1. So, I was in Vegas a couple of weeks ago, and attended the UFC fan expo, which had, amongst the fighter booths, etc, several vendors selling this electronic massager device about the size of an iPod. I was not interested in seeing these at the time, so paid no attention to them. Fast forward a couple of weeks, and I find myself at a local fair here in edmonton, and low and behold, there are vendors selling the same thing. I guess I looked like an easy mark, so the guy selling these things talked me into a demo of this unit. At the time, my lower back was getting tired and sore from all the walking around I had been doing at the fair, so he put this thing on my back and turned it on. It has several modes, but he put it on the one he thought would help for this. It felt like a tapping type of feeling in my back when it was on. It stayed on me for about 5 minutes or so, and afterwards I no longer noticed my back discomfort. I was impressed by this device and the seller did a good job demo-ing this thing, so I bought it. I hope I'm not just another sucker. I prefer to "buy" something over " being sold" something, so I don't usually don't listen to these types of salesmen. This thing is called "IQ Massager, Pro IV Combo". Do any of you here have this thing, or have something similar, and if so, any stories of success or failure with it? Dale.
2. I don't dare take my dog on the bike, she already wants to drive my truck!
3. Great site, indeed, and I'm glad to be a part of it. Dale.
4. Man, that's a shame. From what I recall, your accident was more of a "tipping over" scenario, not really a "crash". Strange that there would be that much damage. I hope you are recovering quickly. It was nice talking to you at Venture West. Dale
5. Sheesh... If I have to take the gas tank off, I'm out. That sounds like it could go horribly wrong for a guy with little mechanical skills.
6. Thanks for everyone's input. I didn't see the instructions for adding the relay. What is its purpose, and how important would it be. Thanks in advance. Dale
7. I was thinking about getting some passing lamps for my RSV, and was wondering if you folks installed them yourself, or had the dealer do it. I looked in the tech section and read the install instructions, which seemed somewhat involved. Is this an easy thing to? Thanks, Dale.
8. That's over 2200 miles to my American friends. That was my round trip mileage going out to Venture West. I met up with Doug Ivey in BC, and we headed for The Dalles together. What an awesome experience. This was some of the most beautiful scenery I could image. On our way south, the area in and around Soap Lake, Washington, as well as highway 12 going from Mount St. Helens to Yakima slowly heading home were absolutely gorgeous. These are the times when I wish I had an on board video camera to log the views. I stayed at Doug's house on my way out and coming back, and what a great host he was. Thanks, Doug. We really enjoyed our time with the crew that showed up in The Dalles, even though someone who shall remain nameless, rode in on a new Harley! (Nice bike, Vic). It was nice to put faces to some of the names I've seen on this forum, like Lone Eagle, Condor, Kevin-Vic-bc, CM Coffee, Mabeline, and the legends Cowpuc and Tippy. I even got a hug from Tippy, who was as sweet as they come. Thanks, everyone, for making my 2014 vacation so very memorable. Dale.
9. Funny. After the video ended, I saw there were more selections to watch, so I clicked on one that turned out to be motorcycle crashes. I didn't need to see them. Scary how quick bad things can happen.
10. I was thinking the same thing. Perhaps feet first into a wood chipper.
11. I vote for "Tri-Pod".
12. Exactly what I was thinking. If someone had to die here, at least it was not some innocent victim. I really don't know how someone can think it's ok to drive that fast, especially in the city, and think nothing bad will happen. It turns out he was not invincible after all. Dale
13. Hmmm, air, huh. I don't have any air In my shocks either, and thought that was the way it should be for my size according to the manual (I think I saw that somewhere). Does everyone put air in the shocks, or leave it the way it comes from the factory? Dale
14. I had not owned a bike for over 25 years, so while not a "new rider", I was a bit rusty, so I did indeed take a course last May. It did help, and I'm glad I took it, but most of the skills they taught, I already possessed. I do think I'm a safe rider, but was most concerned about the other morons on the road that have no patience and are in such a rush. Dale
15. I would go, but I'm booked for Venture West, and I don't think 2 trips solo would go over too big at home. I guess if you had it in Edmonton, I would be in. Dale
16. Yesterday, After having yet another car pull out of a side street right in front of me, causing me to hard brake to avoid a collision, I was wondering if this is just a matter of time until someone pulls out with not enough time for a me to avoid them. I've only had my bike for a year, and there have been several of these events occur, 2 of which I would deem to be "a close call", including yesterday's incident. I do wonder if they didn't see me, or, they thought they had time, or, they just don't care! I am very aware of what is going on around me, and have used some of the safety suggestions found on this forum (ie:" how are they going to try to kill me at this intersection", was a good one), which helps, but I do still wonder. Dale.
17. I also have the Sena SMH10, but did not care to connect any of the bikes audio to them. I just wanted to be able to talk to my wife or to my friends. The battery life seemed great to me, as you don't need to have the lines of communication always open, just put it in standby and touch the jog shuttle button when you want to chat. I have also paired it to my phone, which worked great. It's cool talking to someone on the phone who doesn't realize you are currently on a motorcycle. Dale
18. I can't wait til we start seeing those types of temperatures consistently. We've had a couple of high teens, but those were during the work week, then the bottom falls out by the weekend. Yesterday we hit a whopping 7 degrees for our high! Dale
19. We Canadians are so nice, you might not want to go back to the USA. I look forward to meeting you at Venture West. Dale.
20. I'd settle for spring here. I woke up to more crappy weather this morning. Mother Nature is sure being a b***h this year.
21. $6500 in your hand is better than $7500 sitting on the street in front of your house. Dale
22. Ahh, my favorite TV show is resuming this Monday after a few years hiatus, and I can't wait. After accidentally happening upon the premier episode several years ago, I was hooked, and have not missed an episode since. Jack is Back, baby! Dale
23. Hi all. I know it's not a great idea to ride much in the rain, but sometimes we may have no choice. I have been stuck in rain on the highway, and it went ok, but it did get hard to see at times. The rain on the windsheild coupled with the rain on my visor made it difficult. I was wondering if there are tips for this that maybe would help. I tried riding with my visor up, but then the rain just hits my eyes directly, so that didn't seem to help much. Any tips before Venture West comes upon us would be appreciated, as I understand it can rain a lot in Oregon. Dale
24. Happy Easter to you too, puc. I was watching some of your videos yesterday, and find you quite interesting. I look forward to meeting you and Tippy at Venture West. Dale.
25. I was waiting for a punch line to this story, thinking that it must be a joke. Wow, what a rude lady, or perhaps confused. The shopping cart thing reminded me of something that happened to me several years ago. One of my pet peeves is how people in mall and grocery store parking lots think they can park wherever they want, so they won't be inconvenienced, but it's ok to inconvenience others. Well, after getting groceries and loading up our car, I went to put the cart back in the corral, only to find that some Butt Hole decided to park his car right in front of it, making it impossible to access it. I pushed my cart up to his driver side door and was going to leave it there, but then thought that was just too easy for this guy to just push it away and hop in. I then decided he needed to be inconvenienced himself, so I flipped the cart upside down and pushed it up to his door, hopefully making him realize that his conduct had been noticed and not appreciated. I know that two wrongs don't make a right, but it sure felt good. Dale
