  1. That seems like a smokin' hot deal, Art. Nice find. Nice write up too. Dale.
  2. I tried mounting mine on the clutch resivoir but with the wide field of view the go pro has, I saw way too much of my dash and windshield, so I bought an extension arm, but got extreme vibration. I didn't want to mount it on my helmet, as I think that looks goofy, so I ended up mounting it on the clear plastic piece beside the front forks. I like this spot, but the one drawback is that you can't reach it when on the bike, so you need to start your recording before your ride. Dale
  3. Nice video, Ed. Merry Christmas to you too. Dale
  4. Usually we wait til Christmas before opening gifts, but this year I got an early one. My old IPad had been getting so slow the last few months, mainly due to operating system updates, ect, that I was complaining about it on a daily basis. My wife said "why don't I buy you a new one for Christmas ". I had told her it was too $$ for a gift, but, she ended up getting me one anyway. I then told her that she could wrap it up for Christmas morning, but she said that giving it to me now would avoid the daily complaining I would be doing when using the old one. Anyway, this new one is lightening fast and is a nice upgrade. I know some of you folks bash the IPad due to its price, etc, but I still believe that they are the best tablets on the market. (I drank the "Apple" flavored Cool-Aid several years ago, when we switched from a PC to a Mac, and haven't looked back). Anyway, I hope she enjoys the mop I got her as much as I am enjoying my new toy. (Kidding, of course. She will be spoiled this Christmas as well). Dale
  5. That doesn't make sense if he is buying a used one. With that math, the car would be over $100,000. Is he now looking at brand new?
  6. Ahh, the Corvette! My favorite sports car. I have always wanted one, but it has eluded me so far. One day, maybe. The wife might have to park her car outside to make room in the garage so my 'Vette could be parked inside beside my truck. Ahh, to dream. Anyway, I hope he finds his dream car. Dale.
  7. Hey, Puc. I'm so glad you folks are back on track. Meeting you both in The Dalles at Venture West 2014 was an absolute highlight of my trip, and I consider you both good friends. I hate hearing about these types of issues with my friends, but I'm happy that things have turned around. Please tell Tippy that we are thinking about her. Prayers up for a speedy recovery. Dale.
  8. That's awesome, Rick. Dogs are THE BEST! Enjoy. Dale
  9. We certainly missed having you there, Puc. I hope we see you at the next one. Dale.
  10. While on our way back from VW 2015, Doug and I stayed in Red Lodge, Montana, and we both thought this would be a great location for a Venture West. It is extremely close to Beartooth, which, according to a pamphlet we saw there, was voted the #1 motorcycle road in the USA, and was my personal favorite during the trip. Accomodations in Red Lodge were reasonable, and the town seemed nice. If are no VR members near there to organize, perhaps it could be less formal, where we just pick a hotel and a date, and just show up and enjoy. Just my 2 cents worth. Dale
  11. Sounds like perhaps the switch itself is the culprit. Dale
  12. Well, Last weekend I tucked my bike away for a long winters nap. The upcoming weather is certainly not my favourite time of year. Winter is indeed on it's way. I did have a great summer though, highlighted by going to Venture West, in Yreka, California (a motorcycle rider's paradise). My friend, fellow VR member Doug Ivey, led the way to Yreka and took us on an awesome detour when it was time to head home, going through Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, and Montana. (Ahh, memories) At the VW rally, we met up with some folks we saw in The Dalles at last years VW, and some new acquaintances that I had not met yet. Nanci Rogers and Victor Tibbs were awesome hosts, and took us on some great local rides. My favourites being the ride up to Happy Camp, where they have a Sasquatch Museum, of all things, and the ride up Mount Shasta. Nanci even took us on a "PIE RUN" one evening, which was great! (the lemon merengue was fab!!) Anyway, I have attached a few pictures of this area, and if you look closely enough, you might even see a "Lone Eagle" standing in the middle of a deserted highway! Dale
  13. Returning from Venture West this past summer, Doug Ivey (Divey) and myself were fortunate enough to be able to go over Beartooth Pass. This was an awesome experience, and certainly a highlight of the trip. The views were like nothing I had seen before. The pictures on the summit do not do it justice. I think back to that trip often, and hope to return sometime soon. It's benn a while since I have posted pictures on this site, so hopefully this works.
  14. Well, I did finally find an acceptable spot on the bike to put it, but sadly, it was only a few weeks ago, long after Venture West had come and gone. I wish I found this spot earlier. I hate the look of Go Pros on a helmet, so that option was out. I tried many configurations on the handlebars, but it would not clear the fairing enough (half of the image was the back side of my fairing and windshield). So, I finally attached it to the flat clear wind deflector that is mounted on the forks. This is not the most convenient spot for operating it, but gives me a nice clear shot of the road ahead. I also have it tethered to the bike just in case the stick on mount decides to let go. I have taken a couple of videos with it now, just to test, so I now await the next time I get to go to somewhere scenic, which will be next year. Dale
  15. That sounds like a blast! A few years ago while we were in Vegas, we went to Exotics Racing, and I did a ride along in a Corvette with a professional driver. It was the fastest and most memorable $100 I have ever spent. Enjoy!
  16. Good one, Rick. You made me laugh this morning. Dale.
  17. What a beautiful picture. Gods country indeed! Dale
  18. OMG, you called that one. They left him in the game a wee bit too long in game 2 with KC. He fell apart in the 7th. I thought we had that game won. I'm not sure we are going to have the luck to come back from yet another 2 game deficit.
  19. Very cool, man. I think that if I was out of work for that long, and then told the wife that I have decided to start me up a you tube channel and go out riding, it might be met with some, mmmmm, let's just say, resistance. They do say to "do what you love" , so good on ya! Enjoy. Dale.
  20. I was in a similar situation when I bought my bike in 2013. I had not ridden for over 25 years when I jumped back in to the motorcycle world. Starting off slow is a good idea. I took a motorcycle course in the spring of 2013 and also would go out after supper, when the traffic was light, and practice on a regular basis. That really helped to get the feel of this heavy beast. It took a long time to get used to the weight, and parking lot situations were somewhat intimidating to me. I also waited several months before I got my wife on the back. Fast forward to now, and I am very comfortable riding now. I actually like parking lots full of cars now, as it is kind of like an obstacle course I can maneuver through (go figure). I am so glad I bought this thing. It is my favorite past time by far. Road trips are awesome! You came to the right forum. The folks here are amazing! Perhaps we will see you at VR event in the future. Enjoy! Dale.
  21. Nice. I need to get out more. Maybe that way, something might follow me home too! Dale
  22. Wow, what a game 5. Congrats, Jays! Condolences to my American friends, but we Canucks have waited soooo long for this. Here's to hoping round 2 goes well. Dale
  23. You may not be quite as excited about Texas on Wednesday when the Blue Jays knock off the Rangers after being down 2 games to none! Dale.
  24. Good for you guys, Doug. That sounds awesome. Barb and I are going to Maui in February for our first ever Hawiaan vacation. You just might have inspired me to rent a bike for a day or so. Dale.
  25. Man, that really sounds terrible, GW. I hope it goes away as quickly as it came. Back and neck issues are the worst. You can't do anything at all without being reminded by pain of the problem. Good luck healing up quickly. Dale.
