1. As a Canadian, I feel your pain. We still have snow on the ground and cold temperatures here in Edmonton. Hang in there.
2. Ah, must be nice to have it included. I got my 2013 a month ago, and shortly thereafter, I received my iPod SHUFFLE! The cheapest iPod on the market, and a cord to plug into the aux jack only. I emailed them stating that Americans get the iPod touch and the I-simple adaptor, but we Canucks get the cheap ass solution to playing iPods. They replied today, stating that it is more expensive to do business in Canada, and that they were sorry I was disappointed with the promotion. Oh well, I will have to survive, somehow.
3. I thought this one from J & S Jacks looked cool. Hopefully the video link works. I'm not sure how to embed the YouTube video in this window from my iPad. [ame=http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ns3FE2W2qd0]J&S Motorcycle Lifts - YouTube[/ame]
4. Hi all. I was just curious to know if most people here use a jack or stand when storing their bike for winter, or do you just let it sit on the wheels? Thanks, Dale.
5. I just wanted to acknowledge the very kind act the venturerider member Divey has done for me. After reading my thread about what kind of headset you all prefer, Doug contacted me and offered his wired headsets to me, free of charge, as he had replaced them with a bluetooth set. Not only that, he also brought them to town while on a trip to Edmonton, and met up with me to hand deliver them. That is one of the nicest things a stranger has ever done for me. It's nice to know that there are still kind, unselfish, helpful people out there. Doug, if you happen to read this, I want you to know that I really enjoyed our visit, and conversation we had Tuesday night. I will hopefully be able to look you up this summer on our trip through the Okanogan, and we could go for a ride (lunch is on me). Dale.
6. It doesn't look like riding season is going to be any time soon, as we had a major storm today that dumped over 20 centimeters on us. Pissing me off daily lately, as I so desire spring like weather.
7. I bought a new one this year too, still have not ridden it ( another ton of snow fell today!). Anyway, here in Alberta, everyone wanted $20,000 for it, and there were some dealers that had some a couple of years old for not much less. I found one dealer that had it on sale for $17,800, which i bought. I Actually saw an 09 in a dealership for only about $1000 less than what I paid for a 2013. I don't care that it is the same bike since 99, I like new and don't plan on selling it for many years. I know when buying new that I m not buying someone else's problem, or poorly maintained bike. I also looked at the Goldwing ($10000 more), and the Victory ($5000 to $10000 more- depending on which model) too expensive for a toy. I bought a 1997 gmc Sierra truck brand new, sold it in 2008 when I bought a brand new Toyota Tundra, which I love. Like I said, I like NEW! It just feels good, you know? Dale
8. Wow, insurance seems to be all over the map regarding prices. I got full coverage, replacement value on a 2013 RSV for $627/ year. I wonder if some of the higher prices we are hearing about have something to do with your a poor driving record, like multiple tickets or previous accidents, etc. I also think that charging someone more due to what area they live in is ridiculous! isn't that like charging a particular ethnic group more because they typically are bad drivers?
9. How am I going to break the news to Rudolf that his services are no longer required?
10. Hog, hopefully your new supervisor's incompetence will be recognized from his superiors and the problem will sort itself out (if management has any balls at all). Drinking and golfing buddies are great until too many screw ups affect the bottom line, or even worse, someone's safety. Dale.
11. Uncle DJ, if you like where you are, and I assume they like having you around, perhaps you should mention to management that you are considering another offer, and give them a chance to match it. Just my 2 cents worth. Dale.
12. Ahh, yes, but you get to ride several more months of the year than me. We were inVictoria last summer and loved it! We will take your pst if it comes with the mild climate.
13. Well, so far my purchases for this new bike I have are as follows: 2 Shoei RF1100 helmets, at about $500 each =$1000 2 Olympia Airglide motorcycle jackets at $300 each = $600 Motorcycle training/refresher course = $550 Insurance for the year = $627 Grand total so far is $2777. Still need rain pants, luggage, trunk rack, gloves, boots, and god knows what else. The bike has yet to turn a wheel! I can't wait to use all of these things! Dale.
14. How much would you want for the Yamaha ones, and what is their condition?
15. Hi guys. I've been thinking about buying the Yamaha headset to make use of the intercom system, etc, but wondered if there is a better option out there. For those of you with headsets, what type did you get, and how are they? Thanks, Dale.
16. Hey, Vasquelli, how long did it take for you to get your iPod and connector? Also, did you get 2 tiny little Allen nuts with a tiny Allen wrench in with your manual? I'm not sure what they are for. The dealer did not know either.
17. Ok, I hope these pictures work. Here she is:
18. I don't see where I can upload a picture to show you all. I looked for the "pictures and albums" link in my user c.p., but it is not there. Perhaps as a "trial member", we are unable to add photos.
19. I am now in possession of my brand spanking new, 2013 Yamaha Royal Star Venture! YAY! I put a deposit on it about 6 weeks ago, then brought them a cheque for the balance 2 weeks ago, and this fine Friday morning, they brought me the bike. She looks great sitting in my garage. It will be a while til it is on the road, as we still have lots of snow here in Edmonton, but taking possession is a step in the right direction. I can't wait to take her out Dale. P.S. Does anyone know if there is license plate mounting hardware with a new bike? I picked up a plate this afternoon, but don't see any mounting hardware.
20. Yup, the existing cable is there. I just hope Yamaha sends the kit. The dealer found info on it as an accessory, but it would cost me over $300. That will piss me off if I have to buy it where others get it free.
21. Atoolnut, the dealer I bought from was unaware that this adaptor even exists. Do you think that they will receive it with the iPod shuffle that is supposed to come with it, or is there something else I can do to check into this? Dale.
22. Thanks for the info, guys. If it comes with the interface, that's a great start!
23. Hello fellow Canucks. I have read on various sites that the 2012 and 2013 RSV's come with a star branded iPod touch, but it seems it is only in the USA. Is this the case, and if so, does that mean the "I-simple interface" does not come with the Candian models also? Dale.
24. On Saturday I went down to the dealership where I had earlier put a deposit on an RSV, and paid the balance off. I now have a delivery date of March 1. I can't wait to have this baby in my garage, even though there is still plenty of snow here in Edmonton. It will be nice just to get used to some features that I can try out before riding season begins. Dale.
