  1. I know that this is supposed to be a serious thread, but a couple of these posts have given me a good laugh. Dale
  2. I remember reading this a while back and thinking that this guy better be towing a trailer with all that stuff he listed. I read a book called "The motorcycle touring bible". There is a lot of good info in there. Dale
  3. Hi all. I just wanted to pass along a book title that you might want to check out. It's called the Motorcycle Touring Bible, by Fred Rau. I bought this last year and have really enjoyed it and I like to keep it around to refer to from time to time. There is a lot of good advice and some funny stories in it. Cheers! Dale
  4. What a coincidence, as I was just looking to get a spare key cut yesterday. I went to a Yamaha dealer to see if they cut keys or have blanks for sale, but they don't. I went to a couple of auto parts stores, but neither could help me. I was told to go to a locksmith, which will be this mornings errand. This was made necessary due to last weekends event of nearly loosing my main key, and having no idea where the spare is that came with the bike. I was monkeying around in the garage last weekend and mad a couple of trips to the hardware store in my truck when I noticed I can't find the bike key. I am getting bad for setting things down and not remembering where I put them, so I assumed that is what happened this time too. I searched the house and garage extensively but it was nowhere to be found. Getting panicky now, I retraced my steps and looked out of the garage on the driveway. Well, there it was, resting in between the driveway and the alley. It had already been ran over once, likely by me, but was still ok. If I can find a locksmith to cut one, I think I will get 2 or 3 cut, just in case. Dale
  5. I was wondering if any of you have marked on a map of the places you have taken your bike, and if so, what type of map did you use. I was looking online for something nice, but nothing looked appropriate. I was thinking of something I could hang on a wall and mark destinations with pins. Is there perhaps an electronic version of this? Dale
  6. Oops. Those were just caps covering the bolts. I see now. I have mounted it further in on the handlebars instead, as it doesn't seem so "in your face" there. I just hope it doesn't slide on the handlebar when traveling. It looks good there though. Dale
  7. It doesn't seem to have normal type of bolts. There is no surface to put a wrench on, it's just round and flat! I might just do the handlebar mount if I can't get this off
  8. Hi all I just received a ram gps mount that apparently mounts on the brake or clutch reservoir, but I don't see how. I checked out a YouTube video, but they are mounting to a Suzuki that has a different type of reservoir. They say to remove the screws that hold it on, and replace them with the supplied screws along with the mount. This does not seem do-able on the RSV. Any suggestions or pictures would be most helpful. Thanks Dale
  9. Gotta have JAWS in there somewhere. Dale.
  10. Hi all. I was wondering what kinds of options are out there for adding more lighting to the brake/ tail lights on my 2013 RSV. I have seen the one from Yamaha, but was wondering if that is the best option, or are there others out there I should be looking into. Thanks in advance, Dale
  11. He went missing during a snowstorm in December. They found his perfectly preserved body in the spring. Doing snow angels after heavy drinking can be deadly!
  12. Ya, Doug, the weather was fantastic. We have been having awesome weather the last 6 weeks or so ( almost BC like 😄) . I just hope it lasts a long time, as I am going to hate parking the bike for our long winter season. Dale.
  13. Hi, all. This past weekend a friend of mine and myself went on a local radio station's charity ride. The ride went from Edmonton to a nearby lake and back (approximately 250K round trip). This was my first organized ride, and we had a great time. There were, I believe, over 250 bikes there, and they went out in groups of 10-12 in 5 minute intervals. I must say, we were severely outnumbered, as the Harley's likely had 90% of the numbers. The charity raised over $14,000, if I remember correctly. If I can, I will include a picture or 2 of the event, and one of my friend and me beside our respective bikes (he has the Kawasaki Concourse, and mine is the RSV) I'm the one with the hat on. 14. Even Captain Kirk was not impressed by Miley Cyrus's performance recently at the VMA awards. Too funny! [ame=http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=k6Lb3kFwJRQ]Captain Kirk watches Miley Cyrus performance - YouTube[/ame]
  15. I'm not buying that story until the guys at myth busters prove it can be done. Seems a bit bar fetched to me.
  16. I saw that video several months ago, which could only mean one thing- that guy is dead by now. Natural selection at is most obvious.
  17. Not to judge a book by its cover, but given the video we could see, I'm grateful that there was no front view camera shot. Me thinks those are 2 things I dont want to see flapping in the wind!
  18. It looks off center to me. :stickinouttounge: Kidding, of course. Nice job. I installed mine in early July, and it was indeed a P.I.T.A.! Getting everything straight and symmetrical took me way too long. Dale.
  19. Just curious if anyone has tried these things. I'm going on my first multi day trip shortly and would hate to get a flat out in the middle of nowhere. Thanks in advance. Dale
  20. Hi all. I ran into another RSV rider on Saturday at the shop where I bought my bike, and he was telling me that he had applied a spray on wax to his windshield, which apparently helps the rain slide quickly to the side when you get caught riding in the rain. I was going to try this, but then thought that I would hate it if I get those "swirls" that can occur, on my windshield. Has anyone here tried this, or, perhaps another product that helps with this. I was caught in the rain last weekend, and did not enjoy trying to look through the raindrops on the windshield. Thanks Dale
  21. I'm still shocked at the penalty call late in the 3rd that resulted in the disallowed goal. I didn't realize it was a penalty to be thrown into the players bench and then slammed to the ice. Why that was not just a Detroit penalty I'll never know.
  22. Hi all. I have been looking at some of the ride like a pro videos on YouTube and was wondering if anyone here has purchased the package, and if so, how was it? Some of the low speed maneuvers in the YouTube demos look very difficult yet very handy to know how to do. Thanks, Dale.
  23. We have been watching that show since the beginning. I would love to have them use my house for filming, but we are a wee bit out of the area! Love the show, good luck on getting selected.
  24. Well, yet another story on a busy thread. I have had mine cpap machine for about a year and a half. I am a light sleeper to start with, so i still wake up several times a night, but at least my wife is getting a good sleep now that my snoring has stopped. It does indeed take some time to get used to, but once you are accustom to wearing it, it is a comfort. I consider my relationship with my cpap machine to be a "love/hate" one. I hate putting it on each night, as I think it looks ridiculous, and it sometimes makes noise that I can't ignore. (after seeing the newest Batman movie, i thought it would be cool if my cpap mask looked like Bane's mask, but sadly, it doesnt). I love it when I get a good night sleep, and don't wake up gasping. I have a holiday trailer on an acreage, and when I go there, I don't have my machine, so sleeping there is TERRIBLE! It does indeed make a difference. I do not want to pack this machine up to travel with, especially when on the bike, so I purchased a mouth piece as mentioned earlier in this thread from "pure sleep" (I saw their commercial on tv). That thing is not easy to get used to either, but it worked for me too. I tried using it for 4 nights in a row, to see if I could reliably take it on a trip and still get some sleep, and as I got used to it, I liked it more and more. The down side is that it takes a while for my teeth to line up properly the next morning. I thought that I couldn't eat until they aligned, but learned that when I chewed, it sped up the alignment process.
