The thing is...if the price you pay is a price you're happy with, then it's the right price.

Unfortunately, I would not recommend you ride on that tire like it is.... it is NOT BALANCED! ... You need to make and identical slice on the other side of the tire!
-
Oh, I forgot... welcome to this site and I/we hope to see you "venture" on a Venture. ps. ... the Midnight ones are the FASTEST!
-
You're in New York..right? I'm in Canada I paid $12,900 CDN last Nov for my stock 2006 Midnight that had only 1300 kilometers on it. I dunno... an 03 in the US for $10k ??? perhaps but I'd think it should be a little less maybe, unless it had a bunch of extras installed such as passing lamps, luggage rack, etc, etc.

righto! .. a "useless boob" who's milk produces life... now what can you girls do better with the other 2? :rasberry:

by my calculations, one guy is more than twice the size of the other... one would think his strength would have "some" affect on his ability to manage the bike...or should I say "man handle". I'm assuming here that a 290 lb guy has a lot more strength than a 110 lb guy.... but, you do have a point.

I got that CD/DVD 2 years ago for xmas... I watched it a couple times and planned to put it to use come summer... then I made the mistake of lending it to my son.. who lent it to another guy...who lent it to.... and so on and so on... I haven't seen it since and nobody seems to know where it is. Guess I better get another one coz they sure are good.
-
Maybe... but I'm just a "little guy" (155 lbs soakin wet) compared to pics of many I've seen on this site and I have no trouble with low speed handling either. I find this bike way easier to handle at low speeds (ie parking lots, etc) than either of my 1st gens and if memory serves me... better than my 83 wing.

The problem with the tailbone hurting is associated to an individual's spine, how it curves and/or flexes, etc and whether or not they have back problems in that area I think. My ex-wife suffered similarly and I don't think any scoot I had when we were together was totally comfortable for her to the point that her tailbone wouldn't hurt. The '85 VR I had at the time was probably the best for her but even after a long day of riding she'd be hurting. Some have this problem, others don't but if it's anything like the pain I get in my neck, I sympathize with ya. Even with the adjustable bars on the 1st gen, I couldn't totally get away from it...but I did find it had a lot to do with my posture as well. Having said that tho, I will admit I have vertabrae problems in my neck since I was barely 20 and have seen more chiropractors than carter has little liver pills (wonder how may of ya have heard that expression...it's older than dirt! LOL)

A sportbike coated my bike with his oil; how do I get it off?

so you're saying it should have been "dick fUngers" ??? :rotf:

yeah.. and leave the wife waiting until I return... or, I coulda sent her home in a taxi with all the goodies and I could have gone off riding on my own for a while while she got home and made dinner! :rotf:

Do they REALLY RIDE... or do they "bar hop" ... I'd bet there's a lot of riders out there that don't talk about how uncomfortable their scoot is...they just put up with it and say nothing. After all, they're "BIKERS" ... tougher 'n nails yanno... I've put many miles on both my 1st gens with the stock seat .... yeah, after 10 hours in the saddle, my butt would get a bit stiff and sore....but not enuf to go out and buy a different seat, nor enuf to say anything about it. Haven't been that long of a ride on the '06 yet but 5 hours of riding gives me a pretty good idea that I'll be feeling a bit numb and sore after a 10 hour day...but not enuf to...well, y'all know the rest of the sentence. As for them handlebars, I got the Baron's risers on order coz my butt can take a lot more punishment than my neck and shoulder can

heh ... there's less capacity in the 2nd gen than there was in my 1st gen...that was ONE TIME I was thinkin "now if only I was still ridin the 87" Had I realized she was going to do a weeks worth of grocery shopping, we would have... it was only supposed to be a "few things" for supper. ... TODAY's supper... not supper all next week! (actually, that's a bit of an eggzagerashun) But it all served to get familiar with packing the bags of this scoot, not to mention provide some good laffs.
-
...when your wife is riding with you. After an awesome day of riding yesterday, we stopped at the supermarket to pick up a "few things" for dinner. Not really realizing the implications of my words "get whatever we need honey", I waited at the scoot while Nina went to get "what we needed" for dinner...or so I thought. After what seemed like an hour (well, maybe it was 1/2 hour) I hear "Rick! ... come help me!" .... OH NO I think... sure enuf, she's got a buggy full of bags... 8 bags of groceries ... $90 dollars worth! HOW AM I GONNA FIT ALL THIS INTO THE SCOOT??? Well, after some juggling and re-juggling of things that are already in the saddle bags and trunk and trying this and trying that... I couldn't believe it... I got it all in! At first I was a bit annoyed but after realizing the humour in it, neither of us could stop laffing!

What does one say to such an opening? Frankly, of all the bikes I've owned, NONE have been a "perfect fit" but for me, my '06 is BY FAR the BEST. I experience none of the "issues" you seem to have with one exception, and that, as someone mentioned, is a "personal thing" .... that being the position of the handlebars. Well, I guess that's why they make and sell risers and different bars. No one bike will be a perfect fit for everyone. I realize your comments were designed to be "observations"; however, it sure seemed to me to be a lot of "slamming" and "whining" after only 600 miles. .... and, speaking of whine, you didn't even mention the infamous "clutch whine" ... hopefully you're one of the lucky ones that don't have it. I do hope you eventually iron things out to your liking.

Very nice!!! I love the green/blue stripes against the black!

Unless your scoot is burning oil or leaking it, ... really... how often is it necessary to check the oil? HARDLY EVER! With the exception of when it's oil change time, you should be able to go thousands of miles without worrying about the oil level. OK, now that I've said that.... I ask myself... "why am I checking my danged oil every other week?" ... it must be a "guy" thing. In my case, I get Nina to sit on the bike and bring it upright so I can look at the sight glass... or, I get her to look at it while I got the bike upright. Now if I can only get her to figgure out if it's half full, or half empty!

When a person dares to be different, they get a lot of recognition and man, you're gonna be recognized! Not only that, but you're a leader... Awesome! :thumbsup2:
