Plan is that we will head up the Sunshine coast and over to Courtenay (sp?) Saturday...probably stay somewhere around there that night. Then head down Island and over to Salt Spring on Sunday so, we'll see you sometime Sunday for sure. We're looking fwd to it too. We have no plans from that point other than to hook up with my nephew in Victoria sometime Monday and then head home via Swartz Bay/Tsaswassen sometime late afternoon/early evening. We'll give you a call once we have a better idea of time we'll be getting the ferry to Saltspring.

nice vid of the guys tank bag.... I have a "security latch" on my garage door so that you have to release it from the inside in order for the door to open. Such a device would not work for me.

No biggie here... I'm curious about how the "New Posts" function works and here's why... at home this morning I clicked "New Posts" and got about 3 pages ... I read maybe 1 post and then shut down. Headed off to work and once there, opened the site and clicked "New Posts" and only got 12 ... how is it so different?... shouldn't I have had at least close to the same number as I had at home? I question this because now, at work, I figgure I am not seeing (or know which are new or aren't) the "New Posts" that there actually are. Anyone have an answer for this? Don, I was going to PM you but figgured maybe someone else had an answer and you could focus on important stuff.

What he said After 30 years, it was an extremely difficult decision to split. It was the most difficult time of my life and hurt many that were close to us. Looking back (that was 8 years ago), it was the best thing that could have happened as now, both me and my ex are happier apart yet we remain good friends and in contact. During the separation and divorce, nothing looked good except the hope for a better life. All the best to you during this difficult time.

Good on ya!!! There are many days I feel like doing exactly the same with one exception..... I'd not be tellin nobody (like the cops) and there wouldn't be no witnesses. Having said that, who's to know if I have or haven't ('cept me) LOL

I'm running 35 now ... you figgure another 5lbs will make that much of a difference? I don't run any air in the front...I tried 5lbs but I didn't notice much, if any, of a difference in handling.

That "may" be true; however, I now believe that, since these bikes are so top heavy, slight adjustments in a person's body position will cause them to easily steer in one direction or another. This is something I never really experienced on any previous bike but then again, I may well have been positioned better on them. It's a "strange one" but hey, it seems to be working and I have trained myself so that now, when I jump on the scoot, I am "in the right place". We rode most of the day last Sunday over a wide variety of road conditions. I never noticed any "counter steer" feelings in my hands while going in a straight line. I've also noticed, and especially with this bike, that a wee bit of a lean of the body in a corner makes a huge difference in counter steer force required whereas I never noticed any need for that in my last 2 1st gens. Probably has a lot to do with front end geometry difference and the large front tire (which I will eventually replace with a 130).

better yet... why do some people whistle non-tunes ?? in other words, they're just whistlin but it ain't no tune nobody never heerd!

the BEST RESPONSE so far!!

Exactly! . I don't think most have any idea why they do it ... it's "genetics" LOL Well, add more to this thread or not ... don't matter ... I just figgured it would be an interesting topic to discuss, just in case anyone else was sittin around with not a lot to do LOL

ahhhhhhhhhhh finally ... a real legitimate reason! but only good if your pipes are loud enuf.
-
LOL!!! ... so basically what you're sayin is (when you crack the throttle).... "look at me everyone!"

This topic I brought up may well be a "petty difference in riding styles" and really, I don't give a dang that they do it ... I brought it up because I really wanted to know if there is some real purpose or justification to it other than those "legit" ones mentioned so far including the stalling or sputtering and coughing which does occur on some scoots. It also make me wonder, if these riders took a course in order to get their license, are the instructors teaching this or are they teaching the students that it's not necessary or just what. I brought this up coz, quite obviously, I'm sitting here at work rather bored and I happened to notice a rider doing that while I was outside for a smoke ... so I got curious ... :scratchchin:
-
That is also a legitimate reason and I do that as well.
-
yes, for the "most part" but I see it happening with many riders ... "crotch rockets", Honda cruisers with quiet pipes, etc etc .... it just makes me wonder where these riders learned that they should be doing that ... did anyone ever stop to tell them it isn't necessary ... I think it's something they've just "picked up on" and figgure ... "this is how yer s'posd to do it" ...
-
A legitimate reason and I am OK with that ... but .... most scoots on the road will not stall while idling and will not sputter and cough on accel from a stop.
-
Why do some riders "bleep" the throttle (quick snaps of the wrist... "blatt blatt blatt") when sitting at a stop light -or- when starting to take off -or- when slowing down to a stop (not changing gears) -or- when slowly moving forward in stop & go traffic, etc etc??? I see no real purpose for this at all...maybe someone can educate me here. Or are these riders just not "educated" about this....what do they feel is being accomplished???

I think I'd also call Yamaha coz to the best of my knowledge (which is generally limited anywayz) ... there should be no charge for warranty transfer ... basically all they do is advise Yamaha warranty dept who the current owner is.
-
heh ... one of my regularly eaten pies .... "humble pie"! Good on ya! A lot of respect is gained by eating that pie I figgure.
-
No problems with warranty transfers. I bought my '06 last Nove and there was no warranty paperwork transfer done either. When I took it in a few weeks ago for the I-basket, the dealer did the transfer at that time and I didn't have to do anything. In fact, I called about that not long after I got the bike and that's what they told me... "some day, when you're in the shop, we will do it for you, no problem ... no real need to transfer until you actually need a warranty repair".

In reality, mine is too. I get the value of it added to my paycheque (just for my portion) and then I have to pay the medical (for both). Similarly, my wife's pay includes her share of the medical so the end result is, nothing out of our pockets.

How do you get away with only $40/mo ... we pay $98

20 W 50 V-Twin oil
SilvrT replied to Hummingbird's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I tried Amsoil 20w50 synthetic ... made no difference to the engine sound. I also tried Shell Rotella T 15w40 dino oil ... not much different. Am now using Mobil 1 10w40 synthetic ... these engines are just noisy ... mechanic at the dealer that put my I-basket in said mine didn't sound any different than most of the ones he's heard. He said he's heard lots that are noisier and a few that are quieter and he's heard some clutch basket whines that were real loud ... way more than mine. Does anyone use YamahaLube anymore? LOL -
musta been some major typeos in that article!
