got the right version.... didn't realize what you meant by "gear" at first .... I'm "IN" now... thanks.

Ah-ha! .. found it under Advanced Settings | Theme

I haven't seen anything that has to do with "mode" or "MATE" and there is only one Theme. That being said, I haven't finished downloading/installing the updates yet so maybe after that....

Kindof Hijacking the thread here but... once Mint is installed, run the Update Manager and download/install the updates.

If it boots ok from the 1st one (the "bad" one) ... and if it has the "Install" icon on the desktop, go for it. Heck, I didn't even check the MDS ... just burned the ISO to a DVD and booted up.

I have a second hard drive that I was running WinXP and another version of Linux on. I just cleared it and installed this onto it. When I want to boot into Windows 7 (which is on the other HD) or Linux I simply jump into the system setup and swap the boot drive.

What's the password?

Well, here I am ... viewing the site via Firefox in Linux MINT! Not bad... not bad at all

I haven't done any recent research on Linux distros ... think I'll check out this "Mint" ... thanks for mentioning it!

Not exactly true. Corel came out with what I thought was the 1st Linux distibution that was user friendly way bak around 1999 known as Corel LinuxOS Second Edition. I believe I still have the CDs. Since then, there have been several others that were user friendly and I have "played" with most of them. When I setup my server, I tested various distos of Linux and Ubuntu just didn't cut it ... I finally went with SUSE ... but, that was 3 years ago so maybe today there's better distros but I'm still using SUSE. It just sits there and runs and never crashes, does what it's set up to do. One of the more "confusing" aspects of installing Linux is the HD partitioning. These days it's a lot less confusing but back then one had to have a good understanding of what was really happening and needed, especially when running a dual-boot setup. That being said, you still have to have some knowledge of partitioning today when doing that kind of an install.

I never think about this subject ... coz I never travel outside of Canada/USA.

Levelling links versus narrower front tire

Wish I could tell ya but I never recorded that and I don't have the scoot anymore. There is information here on the site that provides a detailed drawing for making your own. -
Not sure why but that link doesn't work from my PC so here's where it redirects to... http://nexxcanada.com/ ...and another link ... http://nexx-usa.com/Scripts/prodList.asp?idCategory=24 .. and yet more... http://www.nexx-helmets.com/home.aspx

I been in IT since 1987 and it never fails to amaze me how much there is to know and this is something I hadn't heard about before.... very interesting and believable and if it's acutally true, it is surprising that they are still in business. As for Norton and McAfee ... there was a time when they were "the ones" but once the virus creator's figured out how to disable them, that was when I dumped them both. Norton especially was very susceptible and once hacked, it was a real PITA to fix. I'd also be running Linux if I didn't have to run Windows to be able to do my work. In fact, I do have a Linux server as part of my server rack for a specific purpose (runs Apache & MySQL)

Haven't played it on the PC for quite a while. Got a new, wide monitor now so I should see what it's like on that. Seems to me tho that my joystick doesn't work so good anymore... haven't played games on the PC for a long, long time .... usually only get the urge around Christmas LOL.

Just an FYI ... as I've mentioned before, I've been using Maxthon since it came out. However, the first time I tried version 3.x, I wasn't impressed and went back to version 2.x ... Did this maybe 2 or 3 times, each time spending more time in version 3. Now that I'm fairly used to it, I am liking it. They made a number of changes from ver 2 to 3 and it took me a while to figgure them out. Point being I guess is that when a person is familiar and comfortable with something, they do tend to resist change.

I think it was you that got me onto IL-2 Sturmovik ... It's a bit different on the PS3 than on the PC .... gotta get a joystick tho ... flying the planes with the PS3 controller takes a lot more practise ... good thing I won't take up RC planes.... they'd cost me a fortune just rebuilding them

Ya, that sukz but maybe we'll just work here in the summer and laze around somewhere in the states during the winter. Maybe by then things will have changed....but I doubt it.

Curious about what the "odd thing" is .... Anyhoo... I've had an '85 and an '87 VR .... both were great handling bikes in the twisties but neither felt too stable at speeds beyond 160 km/h (that's 100 mph) .... although I'd rarely run them at that speed (usually just at 150 ) My Wing; however, handles way better both in the twisties and at high speed. I feel a lot more "in control" on the Wing. Mine does have the full Traxxion suspension though so that probably makes a lot of difference. I really don't know what a stock Wing handles like when pushed. Biggest problem now is, I have a hard time NOT scraping the foot pegs!

This is a little premature but have been thinking about this for a while so, figgured I'd throw it out here and see what kinda responses ya'll might come back with. When we retire (2-3 yr from now), unless we win a lotto, we will have to continue working, at least part time. We're thinking about wintering south of the border somewhere like Texas or Southern CA, etc ... returning to Canada for the summer. With our limited pension we figgure we could accomplish this by doing seasonal campground caretaking work which usually provides free camping and a small wage. No idea at this time if that is even possible or where to start looking for possible opportunities. Also open to other ideas, keeping in mind our limited budget and needs. We want to travel on the scoot with our tent trailer in tow and will probably live in it for the most part unless there is a better offering. Don't know how long we'd be able to do this...time will tell. Looking for your comments / suggestions / ideas ... On the other hand, if anyone wants to offer us a free place to stay.....

I got mine at Home Depot. Dual bulbs and plug-in type electrical cord. Think I paid around $20 ... I have 3 of them in the single-car garage.
