  1. Sounds good! The wheel is off and new E3 is in hand. I took it to my bike shop to be mounted and they closed for good! Now I need to find another shop to mount and balance it for me. Ray
  2. I have an 89 that requires the choke to stay on for about a mile. Oddly enough this same bike has a little stumble off of idle even when hot. I have done plugs and run about a gallon of sea foam through it but no change. (I knew that stuff didn't work as a problem solver! ) Now my 86 is a very different animal. A little choke and it fires right up. 30 seconds later you can get rid of the choke and it is good to go.
  3. Hi Bob, I am going to assume that the 86 came with bias ply tires so I should stick with that. Do you agree? Ray
  4. Ill have to see what I put on the front but it sounds like bias ply is the way to go.
  5. I could care less Should be I couldn't care less meaning it is impossible for me to have less interest or concern in this matter For all intensive purposes Should be For all intents and purposes
  6. It appears to me that you can get the E3 in either a bias ply or a radial. The radial is more expensive. I read many good reviews here and I just wanted to know which E3 everyone is running.
  7. What is the group opinion on Bias ply versus radial? I am getting ready to buy my first E3 for the back of my 86 and I would have thought that radial was the preferred type. Also is Andy correct in his conversion? Is the MU90 the correct size? Not that I doubt you Andy! Ray
  8. I never knew that piece was called a P clamp. So what department does have it?
  9. I stand corrected. I am guilty of that as well. Ray
  10. Wow! Carl I thought that my 86 and 89 were pretty much bullet proof but now you made me want to sell them! Are they really that bad? Dan, I hope that I wasn't the one that called you stupid. I don't believe in the almighty power of Seafoam but I would never intentionally call anyone stupid. Ray
  11. If those are the ingredients that make up Seafoam, it confirms my thoughts about the product. Other than maybe a problem preventer, I don't see much use for it.
  12. What purpose does the diesel serve? And while Im here, what does the white gas do?
  13. I'm with you! 20+ inches of snow on the ground and I'm looking forward to the first ride of the new year!
  14. I didn't but the previous owner was much shorter than me. He might have. It just seems like the long kickstand problem snuck in over the last 2 years.
  15. I don't think thats the problem Bob. Its as though the kickstand is too long. I have to lean the bike to the right to get it down.
  16. I am having this same problem on my 86. I like it for riding but the kickstand drags when I put it down and I have to find the right spot to park it or I am afraid that it will tip over. Is the spring known for failing?
  17. It happened to me earlier in the year for the same reason. I'm still pissed.
  18. Did you do the video Andy? Its intimidating yet this thread makes it sound simple enough.
  19. +1 I did this and only this. All starting issues hot or cold are gone. However, it is still a good idea to make sure that your starter connections are clean. Prior to the starter change, mine never failed to start. It just took a bit. I wasn't that worried about it until someone posted that it might stall in the middle of an intersection and a few seconds could seem like minutes. I changed the starter and now I can run it all day, shut it down, and just bump the starter switch. Its off and running again.
  20. $4.79 Ethanol-Free 89 octane Apparently the marina where I bought it hasn't heard about the election
  21. Third from the left
  22. I bought a batch of the cheap red LEDs off of Ebay last year. One if them is installed in this picture. Which one is it? http://www.raymondstacy.com/led.jpg I have since replaced all of them and have not had any problems.
  23. I like the kickstand idea. Did you add that?
  24. I was going to push the back tire for another season but I think that I will replace it this winter. While I have it apart I can check the bearings and u joints. Ray
  25. I havent changed tires this season. The noise started a couple of weeks ago.
