Just as I crested the top of the peace bridge my bike quit and I coasted down the other side to just short of customs. Unloaded all my gear in the parking lot, pulled the seat and tank cover, then dug everything out of my left saddle bag to get to my tools which was under a partial bottle of JD. Decisions decisions. Finally decided to choose the tool bag over the bottle. may not have been the wisest choice but there you go. Soon Carl came walking back (customs said it was OK. Anyway after a few quick checks we knew it was not going to go as the battery was flat. we suspect possible charging issue. Called CAA and had it trailer d home. While waiting for the tow truck one of the customs officers came out suggested it was too hot to sit there and would I like a hand pushing it through and into some shade. In the mean time he would expedite me through so that by the time the tow truck came I would be ready to go. What a supper nice guy. The CAA guy came out with an actull closed in motorcycle trailer which had motorcycle recovery unit splashed right across the trailer, and he actually knew what he was doing.

So far based on what has been tossed in the ring, WV would be my 1st choice with Maggie valley NC a very close second choice. And yes I would attend either one (Inc Viroqua WI) making it my 5th Rally attended. We will just have to wait and see if @Marcarl will actually attend .....Right @eusa1

So far I think I am doing good. most likly if am still able to go it will be sometime between fri morn and fri afternoon.

I kind of looked at the 1st picture before I read the written part and thought you got a grandpa on camera during rutting season. Hopefully recovery time will be short. Also best they learn to gain better control over their sneekers before venturing out again. Was anyone charged under the PTA (pathway traffic act)

Like what sampling the food to make sure every last bite is up to quality standards. Bet you thought you were going to get through this thread without a dig from your favorite Canadian EH! Toooo Bad.

Glad things did not end up worse than they did. I myself had a close call Fri night. Was approaching the intersection at walkers and Harvester facing a green light was just considering picking up the pace a bit so I would not get caught by a Yellow light when a small silver car blew through the light at an extremely high rate of speed. Had I been 5 seconds faster he would broad sided me and drove me 1/4 mile down the road. Interestingly on Sunday while stopped at a red light waiting to turn left doesn't the same same car fly up from behind me and without even slowing down for the red light whips around the corner in a left hand turn and fly's down the road. I am sure its the same car for the simple reason that its highly unlikely that you would see two identical little grey cars with identical aftermarket roof racks .

Don There already is one for tools - Mechanical assistance was just an addition to the list of check boxes that were already there. If you go into settings at the top right of the page edit profile and then scroll to the bottom you will see the list of check boxes.

Good for you Paul I wish you the best of luck.

A couple days ago I PM'd Freebird and inquired about adding another check box in our profile. the Check box is for Mechanical Assistance. He has gone ahead and added this, so if you are willing and able to offer Mechanical Assistance to members in need please update your profile by placing a check mark in the box beside Mechanical Assistance.

2016 VentureRider International Rally Discussion
saddlebum replied to Freebird's topic in Watering Hole
I have attended the past 4 internationals and thoroughly enjoyed each one. Alabama was a three day ride for me, a scenic ride through the Appalachians accompanied by Jaceesfolly which I will never forget. Galena a two day ride with some fantastic scenic rides and then the long ride home with Marcarl and Marca as well as trader taking the high road home. St Charles a 2 day ride and WNY what can I say 2-1/2 hrs I enjoyed the ride to and from each one and enjoyed meeting members I would not normally have met if I only went to local regionals. I have enjoyed the rides organized by the planners which resulted in seeing places I would normally not have seen or even thought to look for. Granted there have been glitches on some of the rides but somehow the members have managed to get it together and at the end of the day we all ended up have a good time. I personally don't feel that the draws and/or raffles are a necessity as I go for the gathering of members near and far and the scenic points of interest local to the areas were the rally's are held. I think for this reason it would be a sad thing to stop the rally,s. My only negative comment would be that it is a shame that when sites are selected there is not a closer proximity between hotels and camp grounds -
Just read this and glad to hear she is OK. The Helmet loss is meaningless. It did its job and is replaceable. This has been common knowledge for as long as I can remember. The adhesive and or solvent in paints can compromise the integrity of the material used to make the helmet. As a matter of fact I remember warning labels as far back as the sixty,s on the helmets stating explicit not to paint or attach stickers to the helmet. Just not sure if it still applies given the improvement in materials of recent years. Me too. Bad enough on the public roads but you would think they would use proper asphalt or even cold patch to make repairs on a track.

Driver backrest. Who's got one? What do you think of it?
saddlebum replied to Great White's topic in Watering Hole
I think it would be a good idea if you tend to get a sore back while riding. I never get a sore back on long multi-day trips as I have a sea-line duffel bag strapped to my seat behind me which doubles as a back rest. But on day trips were I have nothing my back tends to get a bit sore. -
So that explains why you were so happy I could not make it. Given all the hugs and attention Tippy gave me in Alabama You were afraid you would be left out If I was there. However you need not have worried so, as both Tippy and Puc got enough affection to go around ten fold. Hey Puc sorry I was unable to make it would have been great to see both of you again. Just you make sure you keep that Marcarl in line. What am a saying. Tippy make sure Carl and Puc behave themselves

I did not know your wife was so Famous. Even has River named after her. While traveling I-69 to St Charles I crossed a bridge going over a small River. The Name was TIPPY RIVER.

I tied the Avons. great ride and nice on wet roads but above 100KM/H i would get a rear end waggle and apperantly I was not the only one with this issue on a 1st gen (I have not heard of this occurring on any 2nd gens). My avons developed sidewall cracking and the dealer swapped for a set of dunlop E2 which were great. I later replaced with E3 and so far love them. some complain they are noisy but I have not experienced that. What I have experienced is great ride and excellent grip in hard cornering or wet roads. They do take a little longer to scrub in but once they are scrubbed in they have good road bite.
