Less than a month to go and although there will be some extra seats for last minute arrivals, the more accurate head count I have the better, so if you plan on coming please try to RSVP on the calendar as soon as possible.

My bosses overdid it at the truck auction and bought a rig they regretted. I am pretty sure that they would have no objections to me borrowing it to take down @Flyinfools puny little Royal Dalton door.

and a more accident free riding season than last season. I would also like to see an end to world wide violence.

It has often been said if it ain't broke don't fix it. I am quite comfortable with the site as it is. I think that the sites uniqueness is the fact that we are primarily venture owners and this is our main bond, but yet with arms open to non-venture owners who are a part of this site because of who we are and the family type connection that also bonds us. I find that quite often an all makes bike forum tends to loose our type of identity and becomes dominated by the more radical and younger crotch rocket riders who would frown on our PG rating or conflict avoiding policies. I joined this club in 2006 which will soon be 10 years for me and I have enjoyed everything and everyone involved with this site. I have made some very strong friendships through this site and gained an amazing amount of both knowledge and help from this site and its members whenever I needed it whether I asked for it or not. I am also a member of a local bike forum dedicated to bikers in Greater Toronto Area which is an all make membership for the sake of local knowledge but I just do not feel as at home there as I do here.

Guess I am the odd one because I still have a whole collection of cassettes and still play them in the truck on the bike and in the house all the time. Been meaning to get one of my kids to transfer the stuff to stick or I pod (cause I don't have the patience or finesse to do it). I really should push a little harder to either get one of them to do it or buckle down and do it myself before they start to tangle up. Some of the music on them you cannot find anymore and I already lost a couple favorite ones.

I have used the Bondic as mentioned above. It is available at Home Depot. It works well for some things and for others very poorly. I found some materials it will not bond to (usually anything with a smooth surface) and will just peel off once cured. Some materials (usually porous) it will bond quite well. It does not work well for tight butt joints because if the UV light cannot reach the glue it will not cure. If making a butt joint you need to leave a bit of space and use it as a filler so that the UV light can reach the glue. At the end of the day even under circumstances were it will work . For sealing gaps, coating wires or sealing electrical joints its pretty good. All In all it is handy to carry around and use for quick temporary repairs but I have not considered it very reliable were any strength is required or for any long term repair

No problem Mike I always book a few extra seats just for this sort of thing.

Motorcycles Are Dangerous, so Why the Hell Do I Keep Riding?

Took you long enough to figure out how privileged you are. -
The Burlington Ontario 5th Annual M&E 2016, is only a month away. So if you plan on coming please go to the calendar http://www.venturerider.org/forum/ca...1-9&redirect=1 and RSVP so I can get a head count for reservations. We have had a great turn out every year so far so lets have another good Venture rider and friends turn out this year and ring in the new year VR style.

Motorcycles Are Dangerous, so Why the Hell Do I Keep Riding?
saddlebum replied to camos's topic in Watering Hole
I am not disputing the dangers involved in riding a motorcycle. I think it is something we are all aware of but accept the risk because it equally involves the other side of the risk. The euphoria and sense of freedom we feel when we ride. There is something about touring and seeing the sights from the back of a motorcycle that surpasses that of cruising in a cage. A modern day version of riding the open plains on horseback. Not sure if its just me but there are many occasions when I am riding that I think to myself will I be one of the lucky ones who gets to ride his entire life without incident or will I be one of the unlucky ones. Either way I am thinking, but I enjoy riding so much. I often finding myself justifying what I do by thinking we do not get to choose how we leave this world but we do get to decide to some degree what we do while we are here. And so I continue to ride even though deep down I know that my logic makes no sense at all since there is an accepted risk involved no matter how you look at it. So for those of us that do enjoy riding may we all remain safe and grow old doing what we love. -
Hey @cowpuc you keep say that. Why is that.

Heyyyy,, its November 15th,, OPENING DAY OF MICHIGAN"S GUN DEER SEASON!!
saddlebum replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
The biggest problem with hunting up here is the number of people crowding the forests making it dangerous specially when a large number of them get buck fever and become too trigger happy. Scary :duck:Or you get the Rambo ones that need to buy military replicas to go hunting when an ordinary long rifle is just fine. Those people scare me too. We used to just go out dressed in ordinary but warm earth tone clothes and get what we were after. Now you get these new breed of people who go out there like they are on some sort of military excursion. Like I said they scare me. -
Hey @cowpuc I notice you seem to be more concerned about the bike accidentally getting a shot of brandy than me getting a shot of seafoam ------I'm hurt:bawling:

May you you and you wife have a fantastic day and may your enduring relationship continue for many more years to come.

First before arriving at home stop and fill your tank right up. This is to reduce as much air space in the fuel tank as possible to keep condensation to a minimum . Then pour a couple shots of you and your bikes favorite drink.

38 Years ago today I married a quiet little girl who I fell in love with a few years earlier and who has been my Wife Friend and Lover ever since. Though maybe not so quiet these days as she has since discovered vocal cords (but not in a bad way) she has stood by my side through ups and downs, Given birth to 5 wonderful children who subsequently provided us with 4 wonderful Grandchildren. Life has not always been an easy road but with her by my side it has become so much more a pleasure. Happy Anniversary Marita.

Yes Happy thanks giving to all my American Friends. My wife who is actually an American citizen is down Highland IL this week to celebrate with her father and the rest of her family. Sadly I used up all my vacation time this year going to those darned VR rallies plus a trip to my daughter in Nova Scotia, so I had to stay home and work. I wish the best for all of you and for those of you who are still able to enjoy fine weather and enjoy a good thanks giving ride, ride safe.

I am not a Vet and have not served in any type of Military action due to having very poor eyesight but I am behind every soul that has sacrificed to keep this Continent free. I think Australia said it best when they listed among their freedoms (THE FREEDOM TO LEAVE IF YOU DON"T LIKE IT) It irks me when you open your house to someone and the first thing they do is re-arranged the furniture and act as if their right to do so invalidates you rights.

Heyyyy,, its November 15th,, OPENING DAY OF MICHIGAN"S GUN DEER SEASON!!
saddlebum replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
To be honest I am not a big fan of GUN/DEER season . Considering how many innocent deer have been killed by vehicles all year ------The thought of driving along or riding along back country roads and suddenly having -------a gun packing deer step out in front of me playing Clint Eastwood in retaliation scares the daylights out of me. -
Will he or wont he? Only that Flyingfool knows!!

Sorry , no , it is designed for cages only. However I have an experimental version for the spider, its called a nov/march unit . . . Namely cause I can't seem to get it to work beyond Mar for some reason. I may have to get together with fool and borrow some ideas from his snow machine technology.

Hope this is not taken the wrong way but I do not agree with the phrase HAPPY VETERANS DAY - It would have been better if there never had to be veterans or a veterans day. HONORABLE VETERANS DAY yes for without their sacrifice we would not have the freedoms we enjoy today and my sincere thanks goes to those who in the past present and future serve to protect our beliefs and freedoms. My Mother and Father lived through WWII. My mother helping to smuggle downed allied pilots out of Germany occupied Holland, and my father fighting with the dutch under ground as a teenage boy as well as having escaped three times from a German prisons including a local jail that my uncle broke him out of. BTW his escape from German prisons were often with the help of German people who did not believe in Hitler. He again went to war in 1949 with the Dutch Marines to fight the Japanese in Indonesia, were he led a demolition team that would go behind enemy lines in the middle of the night to take out artillery ahead of the main attack. I saw and lived with the toll it took on him and can only imagine the pain of watching a comrade in arms fall as you marched on to continue the fight. Hopefully a day may come when love of humanity replaces the need for war. In my fathers words "war is when you are shooting at some one who you don't even know, who under different circumstances could have been a friend" and all because political/financial greed, lawless bullies or religious extremists, who believe more in their cause or personal interest than they do in humanity as a whole.
