  1. What do you mean you froze your asses off It was practically speedo weather here on the weekend I went for a great all day ride and totally enjoyed the high temperatures, practically broke a sweat every time the bike came to a stop. Looking forward to another great ride this weekend coming.
  2. IMHO the Dunlop E3's seem to be a pretty good balance between wear and road holding though initially they do seem to take a little longer to scrub in then some other tires. Another thing to consider is proper head bearing adjustment. Too tight and the bike tends to fight to right itself in the curves and too loose the front end feels sloppy.
  3. One thing that never seems to be brought up is the center of gravity of any given bike, whether it has a low center of gravity or whether it is top heavy . We are taught or told to lean with the bike going into turns but I have found from experience that this is not always 100% true. The more top heavy a bike is the less you lean with the bike. On slow tight turns I do not lean with the bike at all but rather let the bike lean under me like you would a motocross bike. Now having said that, obviously the faster your turn, the more you do lean with the bike. Basically it is learning to find that fine line between leaning with the bike and/or counter balancing the bike in any given turn at any given speed, to place the overall center of gravity in the right spot to maintain stability. Try it you may be pleasantly surprised at how handling improves.
  4. I had to leave the door open----I had no choice.... By leaving the dor open and letting all that cold air slip down in @Flyinfool's direction I ended up with a nice day for yet another nice fall color ride Huh going to try to pull it off again tomorrow so @Flyinfool and @cowpuc keep your woollies on :rasberry:
  5. Just food for thought but The wheel balancer we have at work although it is built for transport truck wheels it is also capable of balancing car tires. Wonder if it would have worked for your tire. Sorry I never thought of this sooner.
  6. Congratulations to your niece. If you want your niece's child to have a normal life never let on that your her relative and a VR member
  7. Should not be that difficult. Considering the winds at this latitude tend to go from west to east the modification should be quite simple. However since @Flyinfool has not been able to make his machine multi directional re-aiming NEE would leave you feeling neglected and there is just no way we could do that to you
  8. Like some skates you can buy , I like that idea.
  9. For Jonas to turn that into a nice camo finish for where he lives would he not have to paint it white and add Ice cubes instead of leaves
  10. Remember the NHL before the expansion. When in 1959 Jacques Plante of the Montreal Canadians, came out wearing a goaltender mask. This mask was made by first making a mold of his face and then using that mold to create the mask. Wonder if helmets could be made in a similar way so it is conforms to the individual head shape.
  11. I am thinking he didn't loose it. I think when the hair straightener started smoldering instead of turning it off right away he added the honey do list first, waited until it was well seared then turned it off. Its a wonder he did not wait until the fire dept got there to hose away the ashes so he could claim he never saw it.
  12. Yeh and if your having a problem with that come on over I got a ton of stuff to help keep you busy
  13. FYI the left side fairing is actually made up of two halves joined together with plastex / plastifix and no one yet has been able to spot were i joined them. Also if you notice the white tabs are formed from white plastex /plastifix using the mold block and reinforced with fiberglass dry wall tape . TIP 1 If you fold clear packing tape over your finger you can use your finger to really smooth out the plastex as it does not stick to the tape were it will stick to the naked finger and not smooth out well. TIP 2 back all your V'd out joints and cracks with the packing tape to keep it from running out the other side. TIP 3 The ratio of activator to powder is not important as the it does not affect the final out come. Less activator gives you a stiffer mix for working and more activator gives you more flow. TIP 4 when doing large fills wet the surface with activator 1st, then start applying the powder and activator in layers keeping it wet until you have fully filled the repair TIP 5 Don't worry about small holes or imperfections. Simply build up with more plastex (no need to sand between applications unless you are trying to even something out or from something. TIP 6 Don't worry about building the plastex up too much it sands beautifully. TIP 7 Don't waste money on spot putty the plastex is its own perfect spot putty. Just apply and sand as needed. TIP 8 Make sure you have a roll or two of packing tape. It is your most usfull tool. for backing gouged out cracks, holding pieces together or wrapping over the end of your finger to smooth out the plastex, as plastex will not stick to it.
  14. OOPS Really!! You sure do a good job of sounding like Robin But now that I know I'm getting an impostor for my money..... I think I should start getting a 50% discount
  15. In my case it was the fact that I had symptoms in both legs rather than one or the other that led my therapist to believe that the bulge was dead center straight out the back of the spine , which is apparently not normal as they supposedly tend to bulge to one side of center or the other, at least that is what she told me and since the CT scan proved her assessment correct and she put me back on my feet I am inclined to believe what she say's. That is of course if I have been paying attention which is not normally my strong point according to my wife. Either way its a long road until you get to were you want to be. As I said I spent 2 months on my belly, a year off work. and today without surgery I have spent the past 20 years back slugging away at transport trucks doing reno work inc decks and roofing, climbing and cutting trees and I am past 62 outpacing some guys half my age. I obviously sympathize with you and hopefully relating my experience though it may not be exactly the same will give you positive hope and a brighter outlook for the days ahead. Best of luck to you GW. Better days are a comin. Oh my #1 rule MORE BRAIN LESS BRAWN . So be smart and determined, not stupid and stubborn
  16. May your retirement years be your best years yet.. Whatever you do don't sit and stagnate sitting in front of the boob tube watching old three stooges reruns. Get out and create your own laughter and good times. Hope to see you around.
  17. Yup that is the same type of injury I had, just 1 vertebrae lower. The right side of the picture is the front of your spine while the left side with all the facets is the back of your spine. The idea behind the exercises I described is to force or move the disc forward and reduce the bulge at the back taking pressure of the nerve column. I too was told if ever I looked down and found I wet myself and did not feel it coming to head for emergency but that was 20 years ago and so far nothing of the sort has occurred. I continue to fix transport trucks for a living and help friends and family with renovations, So think positive. Oh and with regards to the squirrels remember you never see a motorcycle outside a psychiatrists office
  18. GW, is your disc bulging to the front or out the back? I am by no means a Dr nor a back expert, can only speak from personal experience. If it triggered while bending forward I would be inclined to think the disc would bulge out backwards and to my understanding the nerve bundle runs through the spin behind the discs. Twenty years ago I was 25 feet from the ground when the scaffolding I was on toppled over, due to another individuals stupidity. I landed on my feet in a squat and there I stayed. The Emergency Dr miss-diagnosed me stating it was a muscle spasm. When I saw my family Dr He sent me home and I was to stay in bed for two months laying on my belly. He also sent me to a Physio therapist Who diagnosed me correctly stating I must have landed squarely on both feet as I herniated my L5-S1 disc straight back rather than to one side or the other which apparently usually happens in this type of fall. A follow up cat scan proved she rather than the Dr was correct. Any way I credit her for putting me back on my feet, (unfortunately near the end of my sessions I lost her to the Canadian Women's Olympic soccer team.). Any way to continue, One of the key exercises she made me do and I still do to this day is what in yoga they call the Cobra. The purpose is to stretch the ligaments that run along the front of the spinal column which is supposed to allow the discs to move more to the front of the spine, moving them away from the nerve column. At first I could barely do them. not just because of my injury but also because I am basically about as flexible as a 2x4. at 1st she wrapped a belt around belt line and the bench so I had bend rather than do what amounted to a perfect push up. at home I got one my kids to sit on my back to keep it down. eventually I got to the point were I could bend all on my own. The other one she had me do was called a superman fly were you lay face down then raise one arm and the opposite leg off the floor at the same time and hold. I had to alternate between these two exercises ten time a day. I did go to a surgeon but he deterred me from surgery saying that time and her exercises would give me the same results and be less intrusive which it did. Today I am doing very well though I use more brain and less brawn when I do physical work. Look into those exercises and discuss with your care giver. maybe they will help you too.
  19. Happy Birthday Steamer. Hey Robin If Chabicheka is right, and your taking the Day Off ........Does that mean I don't get my nightly intimate phone call tonight.
  20. I am all tooo familiar with back issues, and all I can say is No two people suffer the same but they all suffer. Just out of curiosity were you bending over the bike in a cold garage? If so you may have caught a cold in the muscles and they are never fun, just pretty much got to ride it out, as in my experience there isn't much you can do about it. Despite your circumstance I wish you a Happy belated birthday and a quick recovery. As far as #2 goes trust me your not going to like it, Sorry Just had a thought while your wife had you down on the floor sawing the helmet off your head ....You don't suppose she may have sneaked in a few back and rib shots with her knee, Do you.
  21. You might get slammed anyway. my windshield from clearview came to $450. by the time I paid shipping Canadian exchange and good old Canadian customs fees.
  22. I have been thinking about putting one on this winter as well. How much was it.
  23. Hey GW what was your original helmet? Mine is about 3 or 4 years old and I have noticed on the odd occasion the catch can get a little temperamental. Just wondering if I should "A" replace it or "B" lavish my wife with extra praise and attention just in case.
  24. Very Sad story I often wonder what drives a person to such extreme measure's. I usually succumb to the notion that it is today's world that is the culprit. I have had a similar experience as a client of mine who became a close friend also gave up on life, as well as two of my daughters close friends. It really is a shame and I hope and pray that some day the world will become a better place for all, so that struggling souls do not feel the need to leave.
