I had my Stebel horn mounted on the right side in the stock location for over a year. Now that I have a sidecar, I would like my sons hearing to stay better than mine, so I removed the horn. Has anyone found a good mounting location on the left side of the motorcycle?
-
Does anyone have a good set of eyebrows from a 2 gen they would like to sell? I would like to add them to the front of my sidecar to match the bike.

Mobil1 now makes motorcycle specific oil filters for the 2nd gen (M1MC-134). I use mobil1 oil and filters In my cars with good results. I have been waiting for these filters to hit the stores, but they are $20. I have been using K&N.

It's made by Champion sidecar and the model is Escort.

I had to find a way to have my son enjoy this sport with me, and this was my solution. I just got it installed and still need to wire it before I can hit the road. I have road it around the neighborhood and in an empty parking lot. It is very different but kinda fun. I still have a lot to learn but I am getting there.

Thanks for the information MJ44. When I finish hacking my 04 RSV, I will keep this information in mind. I am hoping the steering will be tolerable and I wont need to modify the triple tree. From what I have read from you and the sidecar site, I might want to start saving my pennies.

A good friend of mine just sold a 2004 Heritage Soft-tale with just fewer than 100K miles. He is now riding a new Fatboy Soft-tale and rides more than most. Every year he spends 2 weeks in the Rocky’s and comes home with about 8K more miles than he left with. His bikes run flawless and have never left him stranded. I think Harleys are great bikes and have come a long way in the past years.

There are a few options for tachs. I choose the Barrons and mounted it on my brake reservoir. This is extremely easy and works very well.

I called my local Radio Shack to see if they carried a male to male 3.5 mm coupler. He told me the only way to accomplish this was to by 2 male to female couplers and put them together. What????? I saw plenty of them online. Tomorrow when I get out of work I will stop at a couple stores and if I can’t find it, I will just order one. Thanks again Freebird.

Ok, I feel really stupid. I tried to wire my GPS today and both the wire from my GPS and AUX input on the bike are 3.5mm female connections. Does someone make a male to male adaptor? Sorry for the question but I’m not a big audio guy.

Thanks again for the responses. I should have explained my question better in the first post. the Zummo 665 has a MP3 player as well as a XM receiver. I can't imagine why I would need to plug in anything else. I will keep the buddyrich cable in mind if I ever decide to get headsets.
-
Thanks for the responses. I don't use any helmet speakers, just the bike speakers. At this point my voicemail can handle any incoming calls while I am riding. The only thing I want to do is play mp3's, XM and the spoken directions all through the bike speakers. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the splitter just to have another location to plug something into the aux? I'm not familiar with the buddyrich cable, is this just to use a helmet speaker/mic set?

I am going to add a Zumo 665 to my 2004 RSV this spring. I wish to plug this into the aux of the radio. My question is can I unplug the the connection from the back of the cassette and plug it directly into the Zumo wire harness. I don't need any other aux inputs or the cassette player? Thanks for your help.

If you lower the rear does it handle worse? I would like to touch better, but not at the expense of handling.

Installing this tack couldn't be easier. The wire come out of the back of the tack through a grommet. All the wires are inside a rubber/plastic jacket. There is plenty of room to run them along with the other wires and cables on the handle bars. I wired mine to the top right coil. the tack comes with all the wire connecters you need. Wiring this way the tack will only come on when the key is on and the kill switch is on. Hope this helps

another nice but not cheap accessory. very handy for long trips. http://www.motorsportssupercenter.com/pages/Catalog/Product/4253?categoryID=210&subCategoryID=409&catalogFilter1ID=1&catalogFilter2ID=4&catalogFilter3ID=90&catalogFilter4ID=69&catalogFilter5ID=336

Barons did their homework on this one. I'm short at 5'6" and the angle of the tack is a couple inches above my line of sight. They most likely targeted the average size rider. The tack is very easy to quickly read but does not obstruct your view in any way.

I'm very happy with my tach. It is not the cheapest option but it does look nice. Installation was very easy and if you purchase both the tach and master cylinder cover you will have everything you need.

I have been wondering about V7Goose also. I have never met this man, but I enjoy reading all his post. He has helped me with frustrating carburator problems in the past. I learn everytime I read his responses to other peoples questions. His knowledge and sharing has helped me enjoy my 04 RSMV much more. Happy Birthday Mr. V7Goose

This is a hitch I made for my 04 RSV. The dimensions are not complete, I used them for verification only.

We were turning on that side road with 3 bikes and a truck w/trailer following (the one in the picture). I slowed down to wait for oncoming traffic, I checked my mirrors as the oncoming cars approached and then I went to make my turn. I did not notice the truck following us had lost her brakes and was unable to stop. After the oncoming traffic passed she darted in the oncoming lane and hit me in my left saddlebag as I was turning. If she didn't do this, she would have ran into the back of all of us. Her quick thinking may have saved a life or two. My wife and I were thrown from the bike and slid through the intersection and came to a stop about where the front tire of the police car is. My wife was 30 weeks pregnant and this was her last ride until after our son was born. By the grace of God we all survived and we just celebrated our Sons first birthday. I was at the hospital when this picture was taken. I kick myself for not checking the mirror again after the oncoming car passed. Yes the trailer was bound so tight that the tire is in the air. I had it loaded pretty good, but that old GL1500 didn't mind pulling a heavy trailer.
-
This is what happened to me when not using a swivel. This swivel ball is interesting. I still pull this trailer with my 04 RSV. I was not around when the trailer was removed, but my friends said it was very hard as the trailer was loaded with camping gear.

It's the platic tab that the metal bracket mounts to, that's broke. It's very thin and from what I have read on this site, most of them break easy. The plastic tie is not replacing metal.
