  3. I got beat in Sept by a 1984 Yamaha 650 Turbocharged seka, though it was just by a length. Damn, those turbos are fast! Cheap on insurance too!
  4. I've also got a Wing, though it's a 1975 first year wing and a lot smaller than the newer ones. Still a blast to ride though!
  5. I 2nd the Dricore idea. I used the Dricore Product from Home Depot (www.dricore.com) to cover my basement floors. It raised the tempurature of the basement almost 20°f from previous, and stops "wicking" of moisture into the basement reducing dehumidifier cycles. For the crack, I'd use something like Emecole concrete repair kit: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ohd0b-dzcFY]D-I-Y Concrete Floor Crack Repair - YouTube[/ame] Good Luck!
  6. Yes, Know it well! Here it's the Burlington Skyway that creeps me out. Last summers Confederation Bridge to Prince Edward Island was freaky as well! (though I did that on four wheels).
  7. I should add, you need the reservoir so the brake fluid doesn't flow into the pump.
  8. http://www.mityvac.com/pages/products_hvpk.asp#MV8000 Sold at Napa autoparts for around $60 with gauge I believe, cheaper without gauge. The advantage of having the gauge is testing the vacuum when rebuilding carbs. If you don't plan on ever rebuilding carbs, you could do without the gauge.
  9. I second the vacuum pump, I found my Mighty Vac a very worthwhile investment. I Also put speed bleeders on my Goldwing when I rebuilt the brakes, that really simplified the process.
  10. My Goldwing knocks like a diesel when the carbs are out of sync! Your smoking could be the valve stem seals, could they not? Once worn, they let oil pass into the cylinder. At higher revs, this little bit of oil gets burned off unnoticeably, but at lower revs, it will smoke more.
  11. I'm about to put my new-2-me 2000 RSV away for the winter and wanted to know if there was anything in particular you guys do when winterizing your scooters? I plan on taking the battery into the house, and running the carbs dry, draining the bowls, Is there anything else I should be watching for? Do I need to remove the gas tank to get at the carb drain plugs? Oh yes, I put a good wallop of Fuel conditioner into the tank and ran it for a good 10 minutes so the fuel hit the carbs. Cheers, D.W.
  12. Thanks for the offer Rickardracing, but I honestly don't think I'd ever use a cassette! I'd rather have the empty pocket for an MP3 player. Cheers, D.W.
  13. I just bought a 1999 Venture this week, there's a problem with the cassette deck. The PO got a cassette stuck in the thing and couldn't get it out. As a result, it won't turn off, and the battery will drain in 3 days. His solution was to wire a switch into the fairing that turned power off to the radio/cassette. The problem with this is I loose the FM channel presets when I turn the switch off. I'd like to remove the cassette and create a space for my MP3 player. If I unplug the cassette, will the radio still function? or do I need to jumper some pins on the plug? Thanks, D.W.

  16. Thanks for the quick replies. Can the TD/TC seat be easily modded to fit on the RSV? This would open up a lot more possibilities as far as finding a reasonable replacement. It currently has a pretty beat-up corbin on it thats got to go.
  17. I just picked up a 99 Venture and need a new seat for it. Would anyone know what years of seats would be compatible with a 99? I'm thinking the 99 to 04 are interchangeable but I'm not sure. Cheers D.W.
  18. Wow! Thats one big Zamboni! heehee!
  19. If you ship from US to Canada via UPS Express or Expedited, it costs more up front to ship, but there is no brokerage fee (or any fees) at the recieving end in Canada and it ships much faster. This is how I request packages be shipped from sellers who only ship UPS to Canada and it has worked well every time. The last item was a Corbin Seat I bought from Corbin.com and there were no extra charges on my side of the border. FYI. Cheers D.W.
  20. I was definitely going to inspect the bike before purchasing, Stone chips are a good indicater of mileage. I just thought one of you with an older Royal Star could tell me if the odometer typically could register more than 100,000 miles. At 7000 miles, it would be a hard deal to turn down at $5000 dollars. thanks, D.W.
  21. I'm looking for an older Royal Star to buy, say 96-99, and I found a 96 on the internet but it's a fair drive away. I phoned the dealer who's selling it and they say there's 7000 miles on the bike. I have a hard time believing there's that few miles on a 14 year old bruiser cruiser. Does the odometer on the early royal stars roll over at a hundred thousand miles or a million miles?? (00,000 or 000,000) Dealers have been known to tell "half truths" in their favour and if there is only 7000 miles, I'd like to drive the three hours and grab it while it's there. Thanks, D.W.
