Good job!! Here's a few technical notes for others. All solder very sloooowly deteriorates with age, but with the edge connectors, it's the vibration from the large mass that it is that speeds the whole deterioration process on! For a good repair, use a good soldering iron, NOT a soldering gun! Thin rosin core solder is a must! Actually, if you have just plain rosin, that works equally well, as it is the rosin that cleans the area being soldered, you really don't need to add much new solder as there is already a ample amount of solder already there!!

Yup!! Valves are bigger and cam is more aggressive! Chances are the cams went into a Venture, even just changing the cams to the VMax cams makes a difference...

OK a couple of people mentioned it and I will mention it AGAIN! Flush your hydraulic clutch!! When the fluid gets old and cruddy the clutch will not completely DISENGAGE which is EXACTLY what symptoms you will experience as you described!! Try to pop your bike into gear without squeezing the clutch lever and it will act as you described! 24,000 miles is a little premature to have any of the problems you are describing, and if anything, the clutch will slip, not lock up. Clutch hydraulic fluid should be changed every 3 to 4 years... Just turkey baster'ing the reservoir does NOT replace the cruddy fluid in the slave, which is where your problem most likely exists. Perhaps the cheapest way to go is replace your bleeder with a "speed bleeder" which costs less than $10, and makes bleeding a breeze! All you do is loosen the bleeder, attach a hose to it and pump the fluid through, no need to retighten the bleeder every pump as the speed bleeder has a 1 way valve installed in it and it will not draw air when you let lose of the lever. The absolute best route to go is use a Vacuum pump, which costs around $30 to $40 at Auto Zone, O'Reilys, Advance Auto, etc. Do NOT go to NAPA, you will end up spending another $20 to $30 for the exact same vacuum pump!

A good running '89 should sell in the $3000 range, give or take depending on mileage and cosmetics. For it's age, low mileage would be under 75,000 miles, these bikes go for 200,000 miles plus...

...Also, CLASS ONLY comes on with ignition on accessory setting. Built in safety feature so you can only adjust air suspension with bike not running, no "on the fly" adjusting!

Yah! What Randy said! Another thing to check, even though it runs good, the plugs may need replacing. Also check your spark plug wire caps, a weak spark will make for hard starting but once running may run fine. Also, have your battery load tested, it may be on it's way out! Replace battery with a good AGM type, don't waste your money on regular lead acid batteries, they are inherently weak and don't last as long as an AGM which will also give you more cranking amps! The issue with the 2 brush starter and wimpy stock battery cables is when it is hot, it turns over really slooooow! It won't really strand you, but you may be delayed waiting for things to cool down to restart...

How many so far have booked at the Red Light Inn?? I usually avoid this chain but through this thread I understand this one is a better one. I usually stay at the Quality/Comfort/whoever owns them this year and have never had a complaint about them considering the cost. Neither is Hampton Inn standard I'm sure but then again they are not Hampton Inn cost either! Not travelling with wife so for me as long as it's clean and comfortable, I'm just sleeping there! Robin and Steamer, what time are you going and what days? I usually leave around 10:00 or so and meet up with the South Ontario crowd in Erie PA for lunch...

You don't have an option for what I get out of a rear tire Puc!! I do run car tires, and expect around 80,000 miles out of it!! Of course, on a trike, you are lucky to get 6000 miles out of the front tire...

Do a search here to find out the proper way to troubleshoot your charging system. It could be a weak stator, a bad voltage regulator (2nd gens are somewhat prone to this issue) or your battery could be on it's way out. Take your battery to your local Auto Zone, etc. for a free load test...

You don't want to be riding around on a bad rear shock Wayne, to me it's suicide...
