  7. Uhhhh, those prices are in Canadian dollars, right??
  8. Everybody wear face masks, I have a sore throat and cough...
  9. What I did with mine was to install bolts in upside down from the bottom so the studs stick up, and installed the nuts on top inside the trunk! For security, and spacing, I locked the bolts down with nuts on the mounting frame. I used the rear holes, and at a later date ended up drilling new holes to move the trunk back yet another inch more...
  10. The VMax carbs are for all intents and purposes the same carb just jetted a little different...
  11. Mounting tabs can be repaired quite effectively! What you need is 2 part ABS epoxy, some scrap pieces of ABS plastic, and a little fabrication skills! There is also a product out there called Plastex which comes complete with a sheet of plastic to work with. Whichever product you use it will repair the broken tabs and make them good as new! One of ther usual reasons tabs break is at one time or another the fairing piece was probably installed without either the metal bushings, or in some cases rubber grommets. Check the exploded parts diagrams to see where bushings, etc are suppose to be...
  12. Sincerest condolences from us Carl! Woke up with a bug this morning, so I don't think we can make it up...
  13. Spent LOTSA money on a Garmin Zumo with built in satellite radio. There is a LOT of much cheaper alternatives like I did on my 1st gen. You can find radios with the cradles for under $50, just mount the cradle somewhere, wire in the 12 volts, and hook the output into the AUX jack, or get really fancy and split your fairing and install a stereo headphone Y adapter into the cable inside the fairing, does the same thing. Just remove the radio from the cradle when parked or if it is raining. You can always put a plastic bag over the unit when it's raining too...
  14. You guys are missing the point!! Very closely READ the name on the gas tank...
  15. Yikes!!!! Must be platinum...
  16. Yah! I have his DVD's and they are LOADED with great information! Hey, anybody that has a complete VMax motor setup to bench test carbs is all right in my book!!
  17. Somebody slap that dealer just for being STUPID!!!
  18. I had a dog come out from behind some bushes on my old CX650 that I had just replaced the front tire that afternoon! I swerved, but due to the oily new tire the front tire just kicked out sending me straight to the ground! Broke 3 ribs and suffered a rotator cuff injury. Managed to drive home but then had wife drive me to the hospital. Came home and stayed in the fetal position on the couch for days..
  19. Try playing with the output volume level of the GPS, it may be too high and driving the bike audio system into distortion...
  20. Hmmmm, check Ebay or Pinwall Cycles...
  21. Hmmm, that pretty much involves draining the cooling system (GREAT time to flush the cooling system) and inspect the water pump around the ceramic main seal for signs of "milkshake" around it, may be hard to detect as the coolant will tend to wash it clean.
  22. No, the 2nd Gen clutch is a little different that the 1st Gen MK1 clutch. The George Jetson syndrome is pretty much a 2nd gen issue, all clutch basket related. The series "I" basket is sort of a fix for that but not completely. The noise is pretty much strictly an annoyance issue and not really a wear issue. Now, if the noise is indeed coming from the clutch, a set of Baron's clutch springs may cure it, but there are a few other possibilities. I'm sure others will chime in... PS WELCOME ABOARD!!!
  23. My first thoughts, defective water pump, or less likely head gasket..
  24. OK Did a little searching for you, here's some links on shotgun'ing the carbs... http://vmax.lvlhead.com/tips/shotgun.htm http://www.vmaxoutlaw.com/tech/low_speed_carb_tuning.htm http://www.vmaxoutlaw.com/tech/cleaning_pilot_jets.htm That should give you a good start...
