  1. Hmmmm, sorry Reiny, but they were such a butt pain to set that I switched to XM and only listen to satellite radio... You can always put in a cassette and listen to that!
  2. Was it foamy sort of like a milkshake? If so, yes you have problems with water getting into the oil. Was it thin and looked like dirty brake fluid? If so your clutch slave cylinder is leaking and needs to be replaced...
  3. Yah!! Sounds like carb problems!! You can try a method called "Shotgunning" the carbs, which is described somewhere here on the site after inspecting the diaphragms. Yes, new plugs and wires, or at least new plugs should be in order. You should be getting over 200 miles to a tank of gas! Maybe the bike has an ignition issue and it has been running on only 3 cylinders since you bought it! They actually do run fairly well on 3... Unfortunately yes, PROPERLY rebuilding the carbs is expensive, even if you do the work yourself! New parts alone run several hundred dollars, and properly reassembling them is an art form in itself just getting the throttles roughly bench sync'ed enough to get them running to properly sync'ed dynamically. You really need to use an exhaust gas sensor to properly set up the richness adjustment properly, or at least use a "Color tune" setup, but once the carbs are PROPERLY all balanced, it really turns these bikes on!!! Sounds like you may have a plugged idle circuit jet on one or more carb's. Besides the main diaphragms, there are separate "little" diaphragms for the choke circuit that also may be an issue...
  4. Nice find!!
  5. You bet your bippy we are interested!! Great story!
  6. Yes! That's the most important one, it is usually neglected... There is a trick to getting the drive shaft back in the U-Joint, there is an inspection hole with a rubber plug you pop off and use a screwdriver, etc to guide the shaft back in.
  7. Hmmmmm, signs of fatigue, uhhh... ummm,... Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
  8. Looks GREAT my friend!
  9. No need to sneak it across any more Jonas, Black Death is now available at a couple of our local liquor stores in the larger green bottles!!! Along with the Black Death, for you "Fast And Loud" fans, we will have Gas Monkey Garage Cinnamon Tequila for your sampling pleasure! Of course, there will also be Hot Sex around the campfire as well...
  10. Yet another great reason to come to the Rally, we are going to do a "First" at this year's festivities, go to a drive-in on our motorcycles!! Thursday evening is going to be dinner and the movies! Of course, if you don't want to have dinner (AND ICE CREAM) at the Charcoal Corral, or if you think it is too far to have to come back at night, there is also a drive-in just down the street from the event grounds, the Delevan Drive-In, open under new management! http://charcoalcorral.com/wp2014/ http://www.delevandrivein.net/index.html
  11. I agree, WHY!! I don't know of a single state with an 85 MPH speed limit! Besides, your MPG takes a big dive the faster you go..
  12. There ARE lowering kits available for both the front and rear, and putting a smaller size front tire on also helps out! Yes indeed they are top heavy and until you get used to them low speed maneuvers are challenging! The hardest part I had was doing 180 degree turns! That being said on the highway they are one of the most comfortable rides out there! Not as fast and nimble as the 1st Gens, but will still leave your average Harley in the dust! I'm sure several will chime in with their opinions, etc... PS besides the RSTD handlebars, Flanders makes a nice set of bars as well! I have them on mine along with Barons risers. Yes you will have to install longer throttle cables but they are available at several sources!
  13. Saw the head off of a 6mm bolt and insert...
  14. If you read his other thread he went bagger, bought a Tenure...
  15. Body parts, Fleabay is your best option, don't expect to find any perfect parts...
  16. Yah!! New car fever may pass, but the payments won't for a looooong loooooong time...
  17. Personal preference!! I'm replacing mine...
  18. Uhhhhh, true enough!! Hope the Westboro "Baptist" church cult doesn't get wind of this rally, they may get the wrong idea about this event reading some of the stuff in both threads...
  19. Uhhhh, use a calibrated torque wrench??
  20. All RSV's are pretty much the same regardless of the years. There is a technical manual here on the site that you can download... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?1828-Download-the-Owners-and-Service-Manuals I just checked, and it is still an active site!
  21. Yup!! That's the fact Jack!! We will be serving Salen's hot dogs with buns around the middle of the Saturday evening concert!! Yet another darn good reason to come to the WNY NE Regional Rally!!!
  22. Tuning forks!!!
  23. Cool beans!!!
  24. Hmmmmm, 10:40 and STILL NO PICTURES!!!
  25. Yup!! Just held on with double sided tape! A little heat along with fishing line or similar tool and presto they come off! Rubbing alcohol or WD40 removes the left behind sticky goop! Welcome aboard to Ventureriders, you will find us a very friendly and helpful group!!
