  1. Seems like a step backwards to me. V-twin with a belt drive. Why imitate HD? Aren't we past that? Good looking bike but I wonder why they didn't use a shaft drive.
  2. You know how projects can suffer scope creep. I started off simply wanting to mount an iPhone holder and ended up with my fairing split and all the sound system in a tote. We use SENA 20S bluetooth units and have never used the RSV audio (other than to verify that it worked when I bought the bike). Since I don't use the system, I decided to remove the left hand controller from the bars. One thing led to another and I ended up removing the whole system. The controller, main amp and cassette player together weighed in at just under 8 lbs. I wondered how it would affect handling. (I once had an older GW that had a big weight mounted in front of the triple clamps for front end stability.) Well, I can't believe how much lighter the bike feels. I've always felt like the bike was top heavy and a challenge to make sharp u-turns. Taking this small amount of weight off the front forks has really changed the way the bike feels. I wouldn't have believed it unless I had experienced it. On my test drive after the modification I executed three tight u-turns and felt very confident. I ran it at high speed and didn't experience any front end wobble. I'm sure others have made similar comments but I'm so pleased I just had to share. Ride safely! Roger
  3. As most, I'm carrying around a bunch of audio equipment that I'll never use. With my phone and my Sena, I'll never listen to the stock sound system and certainly won't use the speakers. I know many have gutted the tape deck for storage. Cool. I plan to do that. But has anyone removed the front speakers and put gauges (tach, temp, etc.) in their place? Any other examples of utilizing the space up front? I learn a lot from you guys and really appreciate it. Roger
  4. Good heavens. Folks here are usually very helpful. A guy asks a technical question and most seem more interested in how fast he wants to ride. Both my G1 and G2 will bump up a bit over 85 mph indicated. FYI.
  5. I'd like to second the suggestion of flushing the hydraulic systems. I don't think this was the problem with your clutch. (This has been well explained as a lack of lubrication after a long winter's sleep.) I simply suggest that after several years the hygroscopic nature of brake fluid causes water to build up the system and cause corrosion and changes the pressure transferring properties of the fluid. I'm sure there are many threads on bleeding the system but flushing is a process of simply bleeding the brakes over and over again (while refilling the reservoir) until clear, clean fluid presents itself at the slave cylinder. Can't hurt and might certainly help.
  6. New member here. I used to be part of Venturers but didn't keep my subscription up. Anyway, I've already learned quite a bit and placed my order for Carbon One front braces. Anyway...I'd like to remove the cowling chrome trim on my Midnight Venture and would like some help. Are these trim pieces simply attached with mounting tape? Should I simply use a heat gun on low to loosen the adhesive? Sorry if this question has already been covered. I spent some time with the search tool and couldn't find a thread. Thanks in advance.
