  1. Hi. Question,,,, On that other site that sells them for almost $50, they state their's has "Isolation". Is there an advantage to this "Isolation"? I like the price of yours, but is this isolation something of an advantage that yours does not offer? Are you still making and selling these? Thanks. ToolmanRR
  2. Does anyone see a reason NOT to use these higher cold cranking amp batteries on a 2006 Royal Star Venture? (Except for them not being a local purchase) I'm in AZ and batteries don't last but 1.5 years. See the links below. Battery_#1 $ 79.99, 850 CCA. Battery_#2 $ 79.99, 850 CCA. Battery_#3 $ 94.99, 600 CCA. Battery_#4 $124.99, 680CCA Thanks.
  3. I bought a pair for mine and my wife. Both of them have been working great since day one. I must be lucky I guess. I wormed the wireing underneath the foam protection inside the helmet and you can't even see the wires. The wind noise is a little bothersome but I just installed a mic-mite and that fixed that issue. :-)
  4. Thanks for the good ideas so far. For those that know of other lists that exist on VR, please send me the URL and I will add any differences there are between them so we have an updated list.
  5. LOL, VERY true. But let keep this focused on tools.
  6. Except for the standard TOOLS that come with a RSV 2nd Gen, what are some other tools to take on a long road trip? I'm about to embark upon a 2500 mile trip and want to make sure I consider the lessons of others. Let's create a list for other to use. I'll put all the ideas in a final post after this thread has been up for a while. This is only for NON FOOD AND WATER items. (Rain gear is not a tool ) What else is recommended? - I'm taking a mini compressor, slime, and tire plug kit.
  7. Thanks everyone, you talked me into it. I purchased the three bag set (MADE IN USA!!!!!!) on eBay last night. Now, it's off to Yellowstone.
  8. Is there a certain manufacturer/make of a bag (liner) that is better (more durable) than others or are they all pretty much the same quality? Any URLs to look at?
  9. For those that use saddle bags, do you like them or do they take up too much valuable space inside the box? I know the convinence if just grab-and-go is nice, but what about the down-side of using them. (if there are any) If you like them, which ones do you recommend I get and where can I get them?
  10. Hey DANJ, "headed to the golf store and got some grip tape" So how does the grip tape work? Do you wet it or does it come already wet? How is it that you capable of sliding the new grip on easily?
  11. Hey Ruffy, Did you add a new state to your "traveled" map in your signature? I don't remember seeing Nevada colored before.
  12. "What-chu talkin bout Willis." I just did a search in eBay using this same auction # and it came up for me. Try this link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230366375230
  13. There are two left. I just bought one. Auction #: 230366375230 $140 + $15 shipping http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230366375230
  14. Has anyone used this Kuryakyn trunk rack on a RSV? Model 7139 What about the mounting patern. DO you think it will get in the way of the hinges? http://www.kuryakyn.com/index.cfm/go/Home.ProductDetail/IMID/1750 Also, if anyone has an Yamaha OEM rack for sale (STR-4XY62-50-00) let me know.
  15. Has Yamaha stopped making the trunk racks. Thay have been on backorder forever and I'm a little ticked off that I can't get one. (if someone has one, please email me at my "ToolmanRR" Yahoo email) I've seen the ones that are used on the Goldwing but I'm not too crazy about the pressure point the legs put upon the lid. Has anyone had issues with the Honda trunk rack breaking a lid? Does anyone else make a rack that will work on the RSV. (I won't use JC Whittney's rack) ToolmanRR (AZ)
  16. Yup, that will work, but it's not water resistant. I forgot to put the type of headset I'm using. That will help define what I'm looking for. I have a Chatterbox mounted on my helmet and the connector is a DIN-5 that has a rubber shroud on it that extends out about 1/4" to seal itself around the RSV connector. This makes it water resistant. Chatterbox does not have just the conector. I want to make a DIY push-to-talk (PTT) button. I know there are more expensive electronic gadgets out there but I'm trying the cheap way first. I've read all the link on things to try to cut down on wind noise: (tape on back, finger condom over the mike, wind screen, etc) But a push to talk button WILL work.
  17. Does anyone know where to get the same style of connector that comes stock on the RSV. I want to create a small custom patch cable in between the bikes connector (DIN-5) and my headset connector. (also DIN-5) I need both male and female connectors. I want the rubber shrouded style. I'll also take info on a non-rubber connector that will fit "completely" into the stock connectors (both male & female), but I prefer the rubber style. Thanks.
  18. There are times when I did wish my RSV had reverse too.
  19. Thanks for the info. I'm in Phoenix, AZ and I'm getting the bike ready for a ride up to Yellowstone in early September. Then down through Denver and westward accross Colorado (if weather permits) The trees will hopefully be very colorfull.
  20. The RSV manual states that the size of the rear tire should be 150/90B15 M/C 74H. I'm looking at getting the following: * Front = Avon 150/80-16 71H * Rear = Avon 150/90B-15 M/C 80H 1) What does the M/C stand for? 2) What does the 74H and 80H stand for? 3) Being the manual states 74H and Avon has a 80H, will that be a problem? 4) Avon also has a 74V. What does the "V" stand for? (Which one is better, the "H" or the "V" series?)
  21. I have a 2006 Royal Star Venture. Are there directions anywhere on VentureRider.org on how to do things like locate the oil drain plug, change the oil filter (tools to use), change the rear differential oil, location of the most common lube points, what viscosity of oil to use in the engine and what viscosity to use in the rear differential, how to get to and change the spark plugs (along with the spark plug gap), and anything else to do in a 8000 mile servicing. A service manual or a PDF file of a service manual would be handy, eh? Thanks, ToolmanRR ( ToolmanRR at Yahoo dot c o m )
  22. Does anyone have some pictures of what the R-Mark Light Bar looks like? I know what it looks like mounted, I'm looking the the part you can't see once it's mounted. I'm interestd in how it mounts and how the LEDs are mounted onto whatever it is that is screwed onto the bike. Thanks.
