So, it is again time for me to replace all four spark plugs. Mileage is now at 32160. Please someone tell me that the correct gap for the plug is 34. (?)

In my wildest dream...below 3.50/ gallon is pretty good compared to other States.

I have about 30K and hoping that my coils hold up for a long time. However, with the symptoms described in this thread, it is good to know where to look for the problem. Knock on wood, bike is still running fine. There is one thing I don't neglect to do...I replace plugs every 8K as recommended by Yamaha. Ride Safe.

Got the metal casing F10024 at Advance Auto. It is skimmed than the plastic OEM filter. When I get the chance this pm, I'll replace my ff. Can't wait to find out how it will perform on my Venture this riding season.

Thinking of a K&N air filter but...
N3FOL replied to shikano53's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Looks like I will have to call around locally and shop online for replacement of both filters. If I can get them below 25 dollars, I think it should be ok. A scheduled coolant replacement may coincide with the filters. Ride Safe. -

My Venture has about 28K miles. I am thinking of replacing both my air filters according to Yamaha's recommendation, but the filters still look good. Should I go ahead and replace them anyway? -
Yep! Riding season is upon us. Ride Safe everyone.

50mph Crosswinds. How do you ride? fast? slow? not at all
N3FOL replied to deepforkriver's topic in Watering Hole
I stay on the throttle and travel a little faster than normal so I don't feel the wind too much plus hold on the bars all the time. -
Merry Christmas to all Venture Rider members and readers. Be Safe.

Short in light bar

I also had a similar problem on my passing lamps over a year ago. It was a loose connection around the fuse. From what was described, the good news is that it is an easy fix provided you can find where that loose connection is. As suggested earlier, jiggle wire inside the fairing and you shall find the issue. :thumbsup:Good Luck. -

I highly recommend SpeedBleeders. For me, time goes by so fast and the next thing I know it is almost about time again to replace brake fluid.

Help!! My dealer has let me down
N3FOL replied to motorcycle_1300's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Wish you all the luck and hope you can resolve all the issues on your bike. I hope Yamaha can help you expedite the repairs and warranty coverage work. Keep in touch. -
Looks like she knew it was going to be a late night ride with the intent to stop by the car dealership. I think the problem was she never told you about it.

My RSV also did this type of front noise. Lately, I've been using my front brakes a lot more than my rear and the sound seems to lessen over time. There are days that my front brakes will have no noise and there are days my front brakes will do its normal squeel. Still lots of pad left on both left and right / inner and outer.

What are the possibilities of taking the Venture with you? 12 months without my ride is way too long.

Changing Oil, # Of Qrts.
N3FOL replied to uechi kid's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Same here. Just 3.5 qts and the oil just between the half and full line on the sight glass with the bike standing upright. FWIW, when draining the oil from its side stand, I always stand the bike upright while draining for about 5 minutes. This extra step is worth the 5 minutes. Have fun changing oil. -
I got a coupon booklet and Sale Adds from Advance auto in the mail. If I purchase about $25 bucks worth, I get $5 bucks off the purchase. I am headed down AA this pm.

Same here, I keep my battery in the bike but if it sits longer than 7 days in the garage I will plug in the battery conditioner for a day or two then go for a ride. Winter riding for me is weather dependent. The original Yuasa is still doing great...I don't know, perhaps it also helps having a whole lot more LEDs instead of regular incandescent bulbs.
-
If my battery is going to go weak and fail on me, it would be during the cold weather. Something in the back of my mind is telling me to replace the battery this winter. I do a good amount of cold weather riding, so a replacement is in the works. Nice to know Deke and Od. is not too far away...

I'm still on my original battery with 25K plus miles on the bike. I figured this season may be the last season that I will keep my battery. Come late Fall early Winter, I am going to replace it with a Yuasa or perhaps one of those motorcycle batteries Advance Auto sells.
