Well, let's see. 48 Willys CJ2A 69 Rambler American (I beat the pi$$ out of that car) 69 Mustang (Fastback) 73 Vega. (So slow it couldn't get out of it's own way) 73 Pontiac Catalina 65 Tempest (Put a 326 out of a 67 Lemans with a TH400 behind it) 68 Jeep Commando. (Buick V6 ran like a raped ape) 77 Jeep CJ5 VW Rail buggy 75 Cutlass. (Known as the Blue Streak) 76 Cutlass (No slouch either) 79 Lincoln MK4 77 Chevy K20 pickup 74 Chevy K5 Blazer Another 77 Chevy K20 pickup. (Sitting out in the woods, but I still have it) Corvair powered Rail buggy. 77 Camaro. (project that never got off the ground) 87 Honda CRX (48 mpg) 94 Sunbird (The only new car I've ever bought) 88 Ford Bronco II 94 Toyota 4 Runner 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee 94 Chrysler New Yorker 01 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 pickup (Still have that one) 2008 Ford Taurus (Still have that one too. 140k and drives like new) 01 Chevy Express 3500 (Beater work van) In the interest of full disclosure 74 GMC Motorhome. (Like the urban assault vehicle in the movie Stripes) 01 Damon Challenger Motorhome (Still have it) 69 Chevelle (project in garage) Reading this list makes me feel old. lol Hard to say which one I loved the most...probably the Willys CJ2A. That thing would go anywhere....as long as you didn't have to go over 50mph...I had a lotta fun in that thing. Heck, a 16 year old kid with an old Jeep, ...makes me smile just thinking about it. The most reliable by far would have to be the 08 Taurus. Great car...comfortable, and with 260 hp, it gets up and goes when you want it to.

F4 windshield performance
uncledj replied to orlean1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Just ordered a clear 17 1/2 " for my 06 Black Cherry. Went back to the site to order a bottle of cleaner, and shipping for the $10 bottle of cleaner came up at $27....lol... With tax, total order cost of $39. I sent 'em an e-mail. I figure it must be a glitch of some sort. I'd like to get some mfr. recommended cleaner, but that shipping cost is a bit nuts. Can't wait for the new F4. Wow, that was a quick response. Within an hour of sending them an e-mail, I got this response : Yes this is in our system and we are working on it. There will be one included with your order at no charge. Don Frank Great customer service. Thanks Don -
Just for the heck of it, I took my 06 RSV up to 90-95 and kept it there for a few minutes, just to see how it felt, and I must say, it was as comfy and smooth as could be. I didn't notice any strange sounds, but mine doesn't have the clutch whine I've read so much about either. Still had more to go, but it seemed quite happy at 90.

Are ya still planning on offering a polishing service? I'd kinda like to get the passenger floorboards polished. Just wondering.

Biker proves there still are good people in the world
uncledj replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Watering Hole
Yeah, the system may suck....loaded with lies, greed, injustice and hypocrisy, but, if you're a person of integrity and character, sometimes you have to be better than the system and put yourself at risk to help make the world a better place in spite of the system. Kudos to the biker. -
Reading this thread gives me the feeling I should stay with the stock setup.

Cool. If they become available, I'll take one.

RSV 2006 squeaky rear .....
uncledj replied to Mad Dog's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Then what's the air fitting for? I've been going over this new to me 06 RSV and noticed the air fittings for the rear and front shocks, but saw no mention of it in the owners manual. -
Resistance...
uncledj replied to dna9656's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The little "M" on the right side of the display typically means Mega- ohms, a "K" would mean Kilo-ohms, and no symbol would be simple Ohms. That appears to be an auto ranging meter. Even looks to be True RMS. -
Resistance...
uncledj replied to dna9656's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I'm a little surprised that that meter would read mega-ohms. If it does, a 3.4 million ohm reading may well be the resistance through the insulation to ground. Better than I'd expect on a 12 volt system. When I test 460 v motors, 5 million ohms is a barely acceptable minimum to ground. I think a reading of 3.4 M is, in this application, for all intents and purposes an open circuit. I'm just sayin' -
Hey....in the movie Wild Hogs, John Travolta cut the gas lines on all the bikes and it had the same effect.

I've never met ya, but the folks around here sure seem to like ya, so you must be a great gal.... Wishing you a Happy Birthday !!!

Hey....I have that same saw. Love it. Maybe I better go out to the equipment shed and make sure it's still there. lol

weight of 1st gen vs 2nd gen?
uncledj replied to ACE50's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The important question is ...What's the Horsepower to weight ratio of the first gen / second gen.... -
Wow, there's a lot of great info there. Thanks:cool10:

I have a blue, 87 standard. I think the blue ones are the fastest. Yeah, there's a bit of heat noticeable when you're sitting in traffic on a 90+ degree day, but it's never been an issue for me. One thing I did is block the side vents, which were designed to allow heat for the rider on cold days. I don't ride much (at all) on cold days, so blocking the vents isn't a problem for me, and pretty much eliminated the hot air that can leak through the louvers, even when closed. In my humble opinion, the Venture is far superior to a Goldwing of that vintage. The Goldwing is probably the smoothest bike I've ever personally ridden, but I remember feeling that it's kinda like a big scooter. The Venture is a better motorcycling experience. The superior performance doesn't hurt either, and if ya ask me, the Venture is a much better looking bike. Looks like a bit of a rake to the front end, which is pretty cool. The Yamaha Venture is the best kept secret of the Touring Bike World. That's my $0.02.

I must be slow.......I don't get it? Did I miss something???

When ya get down into the Keys, watch your speed. There's places on US1 that get down to 35mph, and they'll be watchin'.
-
Change is often difficult, but can be a wonderful thing. I'm sure you had a good reason to make this change, and, given a little time your new place will be "Home", and the old place will be a fond memory.

I ordered a set of oversized mirrors on Dennis Kirk on Tuesday afternoon, and they were delivered this afternoon. Now that was a quick turnaround.

There's 30 seconds of my life I'll never get back.

How kind. The thing is that I'm not really sure what I need. I've never used one before. I saw a thread a month or so ago that showed a link to Ram mounts, and they seemed pretty cool. The side grippers were adjustable to fit around any buttons on the phone. I was hoping that someone more knowledgeable could tell me what works best for them, and I'd just do the same. I'm looking to mount my Razor Max, I'd think on the left handlebar, where I can see it and manipulate it well enough to use the gps and the music capabilities of the phone.
