  1. It's actually pretty common for the plastic vent louvers to get hot enough to warp. Some folks remove them completely, I chose to block them closed and put a piece of foil insulation over the vent to keep hot air from hitting my leg, and to keep the louvers from warping. If you want a piece of insulation, lemme know and I'll send you enough to cover both sides.
  2. Don't know much about SE OH, but I remember years ago travelling ? 555 ? or was it 60....and thought it'd be a great ride. Great views, lotsa twisties. I work with a guy that lives in Zanesville that knows the area. I'll ask him tomorrow.
  3. A great hypothesis to be sure, but the wife just sticks everything in the dishwasher, and it's not that often that I see her wearing the ring anyway.
  4. Weather report's lookin' up. I'm pretty sure you've already done this, but could ya post the address again so I have it handy for the GPS??? See ya there.
  5. So far I think the Aliens explanation is the most plausible. I don't think a cut like that could have been made by any tools known to man. It's beyond our technical capabilities.
  6. The wife is going through the cupboard and pulls this small drink glass out and asks me "Why'd you cut this glass"? I told her I didn't know what she's talking about, and she shows me this glass that she just pulled out. At first she didn't believe me, 'cause she (and I) couldn't understand how it could have possibly broken like this. No other glasses were stacked in it, nor was it inside another. It was just sitting in the cupboard. Weird. Last pic shows an identical glass that was sitting in the same cupboard.
  7. Great color scheme!
  8. I have the ignition switch bypass setup,...just haven't pulled the tank to plug it in yet. It seems like it'd be easy enough to do a hard wire bypass to the connector(s).
  9. It was delivered today, and it is a 90 /110, as stated. The photo must have been a stock photo of a 9003 bulb. Not knowing exactly when it'd arrive, I went to AutoZone and bought a Sylvania Ultra and installed it....completing the job about a half hour before the mail, and new bulb arrived. lol....So, I have a 60 /50 bulb back in and will keep the 90 / 110 for next time around. Heck, maybe I'll upgrade the stator over the winter. On a side note, the new bulb install took about 15 minutes. I did not have to split the fairing, and I have large paws. (XL gloves work, but can be a bit snug) After reading some threads about it, I was worried I'd have to split the fairing, but not so.
  10. Chiche' but true....the bike, sharp as it is, can be repaired or replaced. Glad you came through it as well as you did. Not sure how the driver that hit ya couldn't see ya. That's about as visible a bike as you could get. Get well soon.
  11. A few pics, in case it does rain, in which case I'll have to do it all over again.
  12. So then it looks as if either that's a stock photo, or they're mis representing the specs of that bulb.
  13. My low beam died on my 06 RSV. I ordered a replacement lamp from E-bay, (haven't received it yet) but am now wondering if my stock charging system will be able to handle it. The replacement I ordered is a xenon 90/100 watt bulb. Is this gonna cause me problems? Here's a link to the bulb I ordered. http://www.ebay.com/itm/280823790412?item=280823790412&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:L:OU:US:1120&vxp=mtr
  14. Referencing a commercial from the 70s....."It ain't cool if the chrome don't shine."
  15. I knew that was comin', but it was near dark by the time I finished. If I can remember, I'll take some pics and post 'em today after work.
  16. Never rode with a mascot before......I'll have to think on it.
  17. Goin' on a weekend trip to the Camp in North Central PA, then up to the WNY Mini Rally with my 06 Black Cherry RSV. This is the first time my friends will see this bike, so, wanting to make a good impression, I shined her up, waxed everything I could get to TWICE. My goodness,....what a sharp bike. Can't wait to show her off to my buddies.
  18. Yeah...but...How many visitors from Latvia????
  19. Wow...what a loss. The world has lost a great comedian and actor. Who knows what's going on in folks minds,...but I always felt he was one of the good guys. A great loss.
  20. Ditto That. Happy Birthday!!!
  21. Keep in mind that if you're checking for power at the element with wires connected, your 120v at both sides of element is likely a reading through the element itself. What I mean is that you're reading 120v where it supplies element, then again after it passes through the element, then through your meter to neutral or ground. It's quite possible that the 120v you're reading is, by design, supposed to be powered all the time, with the other side of the 240v circuit being switched by the thermostat / safeties. Point being, that just because you're reading 120v doesn't mean that the stoves' controls are calling for the element to be energized. I do commercial / industrial HVAC work for a living, and usually get around this stuff pretty well, but every time I end up working on household appliances.....once I start following the shematic.....I'm amazed at how complicated they make these things.
  22. Since I had nothing that I HAD to do today, and I'll be going for a long ride in a couple of weeks, .....I decided to install the leveling links I got for my 06 RSV. It was a a bit of a pain, being by myself and working on a gravel driveway, but I got 'er dun, and I must say, it made a significant difference in low speed handling. I didn't really expect much of a change from such a small change in the length of the link. (1/4"?), but wow. I noticed it immediately, and am quite pleased with the result.
  23. I noticed that too. Looks like it could be oil dripped from an over oiled chain. I dunno for sure.
  24. I have a chance to pick this up pretty cheap. ($1K) and I think I'm gonna do it. 16K miles, he says it runs, but the carb needs work, as the needle valve sticks...??? It's being sold by the friend of a friend, and is about 3 hrs away, so I haven't see it in person yet. I came pretty close to buying a KLR650 last year, but hesitated and it was sold. BMW seems to get pretty good reviews. It's a 99 BMW F650 Anyone here have any opinions on this bike?
  25. That's a good lookin' bike. I always did like the white first gens. Thanks for the story.
