  1. I'll go with the flow.....
  2. I sent her a few $$$. Hope it helps.
  3. I'm definitely interested, but I know the wife wouldn't be too keen on the tent thing. If there's cabins available, that'd definitely improve the odds that we'd show up. If it's a long weekend, we could bring the motorhome and trailer the bike, and I'm sure she'd be up for that. I can give you a better answer once I know the particulars.
  4. I believe the links commonly discussed actually raise the rear of the bike an inch or so. I think the reasoning is to shift more of the load towards the front.
  5. Towards the end of last riding season, I was on a paved country road, travelling about 50mph. I crested a hill and right at the top the paved road turned to fresh gravel...and deep..... Instant case of puckered butt......I slowed gradually, until I was going fast enough to retain control, but slow enough to handle the gravel...maybe 15mph. I did that for about 3 miles until I got back to a paved road, but, especially on my second gen, I think I'll turn around the next time I get in a similar situation. Scary.
  6. I've a set of leveling links to install on my 06. I have a Rivco centerstand that I'd installed a month or so ago, and was wondering if putting it up on the centerstand would be enough to install the links, or if I'll have to lift the bike further. ???
  7. A good friend of mine bought a 86 Cavalcade. He seems pretty pleased with it, but the compressor for the air suspension is kaput, so the po has been pressurizing it to 40 psi, apparently through one fitting that feeds the front and rear. Friend says the front end is bottoming out. It doesn't seem right that the front and rear would run the same pressure, but I don't know anything about the 'cade. I'm about 2 1/2 hrs away from him, so I can't easily tear into it to figure it out. I told him my guess would be that he either needs new springs or more air pressure, and that I'd think the front and rear shocks should have separate fittings to pressurize. He's looking to me for answers, and I got nuthin'. Anybody know a good Cavalvade forum? Just tryin' to help out a buddy. Thanks:)
  8. If it's a spur of the moment ride, I'll go with a chance of rain, but will put it off if it's actively raining. If it's a planned ride with friends, with a fixed destination where I'll be staying overnight, rain won't stop me. On my first gen I generally don't get wet until I stop anyway. Don't know about my second gen. Haven't ridden it in the rain yet.
  9. I can take the heat, but when it gets above the low / mid 90s I avoid rides that'll put me in stop n go traffic. When it's hot I wanna keep rollin' as much as possible.
  10. BLASPHEMY !!! I think my 06 Black Cherry is quite possibly the best lookin' bike I've ever seen.
  11. I look at what caliber the cops use. Used to be 9mm, but mostly 40 Smith now. I have / sometimes carry a Taurus PT140. Reasonably priced, carries easily, fits my hand well, shoots great and I've never had a problem with it. Only maybe 400 to 500 rounds through it. Different types of ammo and it all shoots well. If ya wanna spend more money, there's plenty of expensive stuff out there, but I just don't see the need to spend more.....Mine works just fine. Best of luck to ya.
  12. No, my bike's not lowered. I ended up doing away with the bracket all-together, and mounted the part that the stand was hitting to the emissions valve with a piece of 5/8 hose, and doing away with the original pre formed (curved) hose. Gave me plenty of clearance.
  13. When's this gonna be? Some friends and I take a trip to my cabin in North Central PA, near Driftwood every Summer. We haven't set a date for this years' trip yet, but you'd be welcome to stay at the cabin any of the days we're there. There'll be 5 guys riding together. There's 11 bunks in the cabin.
  14. I put one on my 06 RSV recently. Like you said, it's a quality piece. All went well, although I had a bit of confusion relocating the emmissions valve. I think it takes a bit more oomph to get it on the center stand than on my First Gen, but it's do-able. All in all I'm pretty happy with it.
  15. You forgot: Man who keep hand in pocket feel cockey all day. LOL Great post.
  16. A friends grandson was just killed in Columbus. I don't know the particulars yet, but I saw it on the news and was reported that he was travelling at a high rate of speed and hit a car. Crotch rocket. Died at the scene. It's sad....he was 26, with a young child. I didn't know him well, but he seemed like a nice kid. Sad. I hope he's in a better place now.
  17. Harley engineering
  18. Consider what I said. Get rid of the bracket that holds the thingy and you'll have plenty of room.
  19. I looked up this old thread, since I had a similar problem. I couldn't make much sense out of the Rivco instructions about flipping the bracket, and didn't much care for the part where it said you may have to further bend the bracket. After looking at it every which-a-way, I decided to leave the valve mounted to the frame, and to simply eliminate the bracket that holds the ??? round thingy that has a 5/8 pre molded hose that comes off the top and curves 90 degrees to go into the emissions valve. What I did was simply eliminate the pre formed hose.... rotate the ??? thingy 90 degrees and use a short piece of 5/8 hose to mount it directly to the valve. With the short, stronger, reinforced hose, and two small screw type (radiator) clamps,...it's quite secure without the bracket. My only concern is whether or not it'll cause any problems having rotated the thingamajig, having the hose come out, now sideways, as compared to out the top, as it was originally. It's plenty secure, and is now well out of the way of the centerstand. I've a couple hundred miles since I've done this with no issues noticed. Any opinions?
  20. Godspeed. Ride safe. Have a great journey.
  21. It should already be running high speed for cooling. (Low speed for heating) The industry standard wire colors for the blower motor are black for hi speed, .....red for low speed.... The white will be common, and there's probably a blue and a yellow which would be the medium hi and medium low speeds; depending on how many speeds the motor has. There'll probably be a couple of brown wires as well. (to the capacitor) Anyhoo, unless the system is very old, there should be an electronic control board that, among other things, will switch power to the blower. There should be a terminal on there designated for blower cool, and one for heat. Make sure the black (High speed) wire from the blower is landed on the blower cool terminal. Any unused wires from the blower motor will either be insulated (wire nutted / taped)....or they may be landed on "Park" terminals on the board. "Park" terminals are dead.....just a place to connect an unused wire. Hope this helps, but if ya need to, feel free to pm or call me.
  22. Got my windshield, haven't installed it yet. Are there any tricks to the install? Anyhoo, I got a call from Don who wanted to make sure that I received it, and told me that since it was shipped from the factory he'd ship out a bottle of cleaner separately, at no charge. What great customer service. So, I gotta take a day and install the windshield, the Rivco center stand that I also recently received, and the ignition switch bypass. I'll see if I can get the underside of the passenger footrests polished while I'm at it, and I should be good to go. Any input on how to do the windshield install would be appreciated. Thanks.
  23. Wow !!! You look miserable sitting there with the cast.....and the drink.....on the boat...... Well, at least it's a better grade of misery. Hope you're back on you feet soon; hate to see ya miss the best time of the year for riding. IMHO.
  24. 06 Royal Star......38,000 miles,....no whine here...
  25. Sent them a couple of $$$ Hope it helps.
