  1. Wondering what the air pressure in the suspension should be when pulling a trailer? I reed that more air in the rear moves the COG forward. If this is right does a trailer affect COG? I'm 6'2" and have no problems looking over the windshield of my 05 RSTD unless I'm pulling a trailer. Even then I can still see over the windshield but do notice the edge is closer to my line of sight. This makes me think I need to add air.? Hope this is making sense?!
  2. Im going to the dark side after my Avons wear out (3 months old)! Thanks guys, Come visit in Sunny Destin! Beaches will begin filling up with Spring Breakers just as the snowbirds start leaving! Thanks!!
  3. Thanks! Got a lot of reading to do but before I do can someone summarize the pro's and con's of doing this?
  4. Woke up to 41 and wind, berrr!!! Trying to rebuild my trailer and hate working in the cold! Actually I know I got it good! Been riding the bike at every opportunity!! So someone please point me in the direction to the dark side. Seems just the right place for me

  7. Only thing keep me from buying it on ebay was I didn't have the money in the bank till after the weekend. By then you had bought it. Thank you! Some good did come from this! Since "missing out" I have purchased the Carbtune 2 direct and except for not having the right size screwdriver the experience was as all the other have described, easy and almost a no brainer! Yours will be to after you recover from the current speed bump! Have you considered contacting Carbtune? They might be willing to help out! Anyhow as a fellow ebayer I feel your pain!
  8. Hey I took your advice and took my brand new shinny tool down to the local watering hole. I laid that big ole screwdriver down on the bar and just like you said the men were envious, wanting to know where they could get one, and the women were swooning, something about if I had the money to buy such a fancy tool maybe I had the money to buy em a drink! Not quite what I had in mind!!
  9. I was so excited! Had gotten my Carbtune Pro, read up on synchronization in the tech forums, (thank you Freebird and Kenneth Branton (Kbran)) Printed out the directions, gotten my camera, and figured a 15 minute project at best! Found the screws that needed adjusting for 1&2. Wait a minute my screwdriver does not reach! Went back to the directions. Yep right there it says... "a long #2 Phillips screwdriver... . OH! you mean a LONG #2 Phillips screwdriver!, DA!! Spent the next hour driving around and finally purchasing a long #2x8 inch Phillips screwdriver! Back to the bike 15 minutes later project done!! See, size really does matter!
  10. Love mine for a RSTD! Had it now for about 4 months. Don't think they make one for the Venture!? Pro's Ride all day and forget that my rump is suppose to be sore after riding all day! It really becomes a non-issue Easy to install all hardware is included Con's EXPENSIVE! Not waterproof
  11. Her name is Rachael! I first saw her on Cycle Trader, a 2005 Royal Star Tour Deluxe, sitting forlorn in a garage. She reminded me of a bike I had as a kid. Remember the spider bikes with banana seats and sissy bars? Same color scheme but Rachael was full grown, very voluptuous, with curves all in the right places! I contacted her previous master and after an intense, 10 second, brutal negotiation she was mine for the taking. 1200 miles separated us but my love was so great that even the dreaded strip and cavity search of the airlines could not stop me. So on September 27, 2008 Rachael met her new master. We spent the next 4 glorious days consummating our relationship driving back through the Appalachian mountains home to Florida. This Valentines day I plan on sending her to the spa! That's right! Nothing is to good for my Rachael. We are talking oil change, air filter, light bulb replacement, Chrome job, and of course a full body wax!! Anyhow to make a short story long ... http://tourdeluxetour.shutterfly.com/
  12. I have had mine now for 3 months. Love it, Love it, Love it! I actually forget that I've been on a bike all day! The weariness of sitting on a bike seat is gone and becomes a non-issue. What are your plans for keeping the seat dry?
  13. OK, here is the gameplan! Weigh Trailer Weigh containers in front of wheels Weigh containers behind wheels [*]Weigh Tongue Weight [*]Install longer tongue 38" wheel to wheel 52" axle to tongue Aggie math says I need another 24" [*]Confirm tongue center line [*]Repack bearings [*]Take pictures [*]Post results Thank you to everyone's input! I have learned alot and appreciate the effort involved. Someone reading all this, including myself, should save themselves from serious harm!
  14. Rick, I think you are right about my tongue being to short. I bought the trailer used and really do not know its pedigree. Thanks for the bath scale solution I was scratching my rear thinking how to accomplish this. I'll send a picture as soon as I doll her up with a new tongue and paint job which is my winter project! (or what we call winter here in Florida) Bryan, the road, Florida 285, is a two lane blacktop that cuts through Eglin AFB test range from Niceville to I10. Traffic is usually light and the road is fairly straight with no stopsigns from end to end, about 16 miles. Posted speed is 60mph. I travel this road once or twice a week visiting my girlfriend and have pulled my trailer numerous time along it. No grooves really to talk about. The wind was, I think, a factor but in this case a small contributing one. I have two container packed in my trailer. The containers are plastic bins you can buy at Wallmart to store stuff in. One contains the "Kitchen" the other the "Bedroom". Besides those two I have a Coleman "Tucana" tent which sits bewteen the two containers. The "Bedroom" container is the heavier and it was sitting behind the wheels. The Cooler which sits on the tongue was empty. Since everyone has shown so much interest and shared their experiences I will weight everything, take pictures, and post the results. I have learned a ton from all of you, THANKS!!
  15. Thanks everyone! Nice to have such a wealth of experience pour in! Hate guessing about cause and effect. I believe I will go figure out my tongue weight and my trailer weight and then add ice to the cooler till I have the correct ratio. Once again, THANKS!!
  16. Leaving Florida beginning of July heading everywhere for 45 days! Blue Ridge Parkway, Sky Line Drive, Erie PA, Niagara Falls, The Seaway Trail, New England, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Loring AFB in ME, Quebec, Montreal, Ottawa, Northern Michagan, Wisconsin, and that's as far as Ive planned so far. Not concerned about how far I can get just interested in scenery and people. Hope to meet and great alot of you all along the way. I also plan on blogging the adventure with pictures and a diary! Would love advice on setting that up! So Bigfoot leave earlier and we can ride together!!
  17. Riding back from a camping trip this weekend (We can do that in Florida during January!) when I noticed my trailer was fishtailing back n forth. I stopped checked tires, good, rearranged camping gear and took off again. Got back up to cruising speed of about 70 and noticed a slight wobble, within a few minutes I've got the trailer fishtailing again. Slowed to below 65 and the fishtailing is gone! Continued home keeping below that speed with no further issue. I have had this trailer for awhile first behind my 1100 Shadow and now behind my RSTD. Until now I always forgot the trailer was back there. Any thoughts?
  18. Awesome! Can we see some pictures? Thanks!!
  19. Thanks guys! Makes me feel so much better about my oil change! And I absolutely love this website! (I did verify the Mobil 1 oil was non conserving.)
  20. I'm a little confused too! Just bought Mobil 1 down at Walle-world (10W40) and a Purolater PureOne PL14610 filter from Advanced Auto. This was after reading all the threads I could find on oil changes! Still don't know if I got the right oil? Is WM Mobil 1 the oil recommended by those who are recommending Mobil 1?
  21. Purchased the Ultimate Seat approximately three weeks ago, via phone, and was promised an approximate 3 week delivery date. Received it last Wednesday within the time frame promised. The written enclosed installation instructions, with pictures, made the task of switching out the stock seat for the Ultimate seat fairly simple. Road on it over the weekend for about 240 miles. The seat was as advertised fitting my butt like a cozy fits a beer can. At no time during the trip did my rear come off the bike feeling sore. Pros: Seat is as advertised (It feels like your butt has gone to heaven) Delivered as promised Easy Installation Looks fantastic on my bike (see attached pictures!) Cons: No Formal Transaction (left me feeling anxious without a tracking #, email verification, etc.) No receipt (Invoice attached to shipping box) Expensive (almost, but not quite, a deal breaker) Very pleased as a customer! Would recommend product to others. Anyone want to buy a Stock seat?
