I actually am working on a few things. How about a coffee dispenser in the Watering Hole? By the way..in case you missed it...mugs are ordered.

OK folks, I am pleased to announce that the Motorcycle Superstore is now listed as a preferred vendor under the Vendor who offer us discounts topic area. All VentureRiders will now receive a 10% discount when shopping their store at http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com See the post in "Vendors who offer us discounts" for our discount code. Please do not share the code with non-members. I have also made the topic area "Vendors who offer us discounts" a member only area. This was at the request of a couple of the vendors who do offer us discounts. They want to ensure that people using our discounts are indeed Venturerider members. I think that is a fair request. This simply means that you must be logged in to see the messages in that area.

OK...all Venturerider members will now receive a 10% discount when shopping at the Motorcycle Superstore. There is a special discount code which you will need to enter upon checkout. That code is posted in the "Vendors who offer discounts" topic area. Please note, that area is now "members only" so you must be a member and logged in to obtain the discount code. More on that in another post.

LOL....I almost hate to admit it now but....I LIKE it.

Have any of you ever used http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com ? We have an opportunity to add them as a supplier where our members would receive discounts. I would also have to provide a link back to them. I'm always looking for opportunities for our members but only if the company has a good reputation for service and prices. Any feedback would be appreciated. Don

I sure can't explain why your experience with this tire is so different than most but my results so far have been much different. I can't attest to how many miles yet because I've only put maybe 3,000 miles on them. I can honestly say though that they stick like glue on wet roads. No problems at all. I was a little apprehensive after ordering them and then reading your reports but am glad to say that they have worked great for me. On my trip to Kitchener, I had the opportunity to test them on roads after a very light shower where they are normally VERY slick. No problems at all. Then outside of Buffalo where I made a very quick stop when a light went yellow on me. I probably should have just run it but decided to make the stop. Heavy brakes pulling a loaded trailer and no loss of traction at all. They have worked great. I am NOT afraid to voice my honest opinion and if my experiences mirrored yours, I would certainly say so but it's simply not the case.

Yea, it is definitely on the outside. I can take a picture when I get home Thursday if anybody needs me to but it's easy to see. Just look at the rear underside of your trunk where the chrome bar supports it. There should be a rubber spacer.

I don't know WHEN we will see a new Venture and I don't know if it will be second gen style or first gen style but there is absolutely NO doubt in my mind that it will be FI when we see it.
-
In addition to the plates inside the trunk, the kit also included a rubber piece that fit on the outside rear bottom of the trunk between the chrome support rail and the bottom of the trunk. I had the dealer install it on my bike sometime late in '99.

Looks pretty much the same as my old Stevens 311.

I agree...really nice. Love the white.

Don, If you want to do something for us then I would ask that you just continue to get better. That is the greatest gift that you could give us. We do care and will continue our prayers.

OK folks....I won't string it out any longer. The winner of the $100.00 gift certificate is: Friesman1

OK folks....we have a winner of the contest. As stated, the winner will receive a $100.00 gift certificate courtesy of New Enough at http://www.newenough.com I used a random number generator to select a winner from all who replied to the thread with their suggestion of a Rally Site or their support of a previous suggestion. So....as I said...we NOW have a winner. Does anybody wish to know who that winner IS?

I hope that I NEVER have to take the life of another person. I have been shooting since I was about 12 years old. BB guns, pellet guns then 22 rifles and shotguns. I love guns, the craftsmanship, wood, etc. I love target shooting though I don't do it much any longer. I used to reload my own pistol and rifle ammo and really enjoyed tweaking the loads for the best patterns and etc. What I'm saying is that I do know how to handle guns of all kinds but for home defense, I have an old Stevens 311 double barrel 12 gauge sawed off to about 19". As I said, I hope that I NEVER need it but rest assured, if my family is threatened, I would not hesitate.

Folks, I'm not a Harley basher in the very least. I think they are a beautiful bike and have come close a couple of times to buying an Ultra...BUT....they will NOT run with the Venture. They just won't do it. Even with some of the upgrades...stage one..stage two..etc...they just won't do it. They are a different beast the the owners do not buy them because they think they are fast. I think your friend is in for a real surprise.

My wife likes the Diamond R pegs. As stated though, they don't seem to work so well for long legged ladies. I think the only way we can really offer a recommendation would be for everybody to post pictures of their ladies legs. JUST KIDDING...remember now...PG RATED SITE.

If your computer has a USB port, you can pick up a small USB card reader at Best Buy, Circuit City, probably even Walmart for about $12.00 or less sometimes. Just plug the card into the reader and then the reader into the USB port.

Latest report is that Boeing and several of the large airlines have recently jumped in with funding for this project.

Folks, I would LOVE to give ALL PGR members the medal. I realize that nobody does it for personal recognition but I know that more than a few of our members have become aware of the PGR due to the little medals beside our members names. It's a great way to help spread the word. The fact is though, I have absolutely no way of know if you are a member of the PGR unless you send me a PM and tell me. Also, I awarded the medal to a member once and he got upset about it. He said the he didn't do it for the personal recognition and didn't think it was right. Like I said, while I do like to recognize those of you who are members, even more important is the fact that others become aware of the group due to those little medals. So, since then, I only give them to members when they request them. Please do so if you are a member.

OK folks, I decided to start a new thread here instead of filling the contest thread with a lot of new discussion. The contest will be over tomorrow morning and sometime tomorrow evening, I will randomly pick a winner from all of the folks that posted their suggestions. The winner will be determined in a totally random draw and not at all based upon your recommendation for the location. Now, about that. You have all offered some great suggestions as to where to have the rally and some very strong reasons to have it there. There is one thing though that I read a few times and feel that some clarification is needed. There were at least a couple of posts that said something along the order of "we accommodated the members in the northeast this year so it should be in the west next year". Please understand, we didn't "accommodate" anybody. The reason that this years rally was held in Ontario, Canada was based on a couple of things. It was a beautiful location and a great place for a rally but the MAIN reason was that just after the Ft. Collins rally last year, a group of members from the Kitchener area stepped up and said "WE WILL DO IT". NOBODY else made that offer. They worked hard on it and just did a FANTASTIC job. That is why it was held where it was and I have no regrets about it. All your posts and suggestions for next years rally are sincerely appreciated. So, the next step is to find a group of people in one of those great areas who are willing to take the lead and make this happen. Folks, it's a LOT of hard work putting these things together. Arranging a central gathering place, host hotels, campgrounds, arranging for a wrap-up dinner, arranging for breakfast each morning for those who want it, contacting vendors for prize donations, designing and having shirts made up, collecting the money for shirts, registrations, etc. If you want to know how much work it is, just talk to Squidley and his team or Reiny and his team. So, tomorrow I will look at all the suggestions in more depth than I have so far. I saw many that I thought "YEA...that would be a GREAT place". There are enough suggestions there to choose a location for several years. Please don't be upset if your suggestion does not end up being the chosen place for 2009. My decision will be based upon not only location but WHO steps up and volunteers to do it. If nobody steps up to the place, then I will do it myself but if that ends up being the case then you can pretty much expect it to be held somewhere in Ohio. There are some great locations and great riding in Ohio and if I have to do it, it will simply have to be somewhere that I have time to visit, explore and make arrangements. Most likely somewhere close to Amish country and maybe Mohican State Park. http://www.mohicanstatepark.org/ Just some things for you to think about. I would really like to see it a bit more central. I still think that the Eureka Springs area, The Hub or somewhere in the vicinity of Branson, MO would be a great central location but I can't arrange a rally there from Ohio. As always, your comments are encouraged.

Another biker died. Let's take a moment to say a little prayer for his friends and family and end the political talk already.
