  1. Ok, Tnx for the heads up. Which brings to mind another question..... If I'm using a drift pin and hammer to tighten up the nuts, how do you check the torque?? Just wondering???
  2. Ok, went to the tech section and read Freebird's 8/22/06 article on 'Adjusting Steering Head Bearings'. I'm going to assume and hope the same technique will apply to the Easy Steer as it did to the stock.....
  3. Got the same Avon Venom that was on it before the conversion. The wobble has been getting worse since the conversion w/easysteer last year. The tire is still in excellent condition.
  4. Intersting offer Wes... Will see how tomorrow's root canal goes and might be able to do that. Send me GPS coordinates and address and I'll try to make that happen. Tnx for the offer..
  5. Great Feedback Gents. Sounds like the jury is unanimous on the steering head bearing. Now if I can just figure out how to do that... Off to the tech library I go. Thank you all.
  6. Will be heading up to Gatlinburg from Biloxi to attend the South East Shriner Assoc. convention on 10 May with an overniter along the way. Will be departing there on Sunday 13 May to return to Biloxi. Four couples going. a GW CSCtrike, an HD Ultra Classic, a GW, and My 08RSV Hannigan. All pulling trailers. If U C us rolling along, give us a shout on CB 10. Hoping for great weather and a beautiful uneventful ride, even though there is an HD in the pack. lol.
  7. Yep, what he said. Had the same error msg. checked connections under the Driver seat and in the front cowling. No luck, so I took it to Hattiesburg Cycle. Two weeks later they called and said the connection under the pax seat came loose so they tightened it up and taped it for good measure. Easy fix and the best part was that they charged me zilch. Great place to do business with even if they're a little slow cause of the volume of work they do. If you're in Southern Mississippi, I'd give them the business. Can't help but think that was another screwup by the Trike installer...
  8. Cruising down the beachfront Sunday at about 25mph. Let go of the left grip to button my jacket when we hit a very slight bump. The front wheel started slapping left&right. Got very severe as I got both hands on it and tried to steady it. It damned near tore my elbows outta their sockets before I could brake it to a near stop and regain control. It has done this very slightly several times before since I had the Hannigan w/rake kit put on. Front tire is fine, so is pressure. Never have this issue at speed and only a hint at a wobble when I have both hands firmly affixed. Other than keeping both hands on the grips at all times, any other suggestions?
  9. Had the same dilemma whether to trike or Voyager. Went with the Hannigan which is great. However, make the installer show you proof that he's done Venture's before. It doesn't matter how many Goldwings and Harley's he's done. Mine apparently had not, and I'm still finding screwups a year later.
  10. Sounds like you got more of a response from J&M than I did,,, I just bought two GMAX 54s helmets from Cycle Giant. I emailed J&M asking which model # of the Performance Series they recommended for those helmets... The reply was "We're not familiar with that helmet, can't help you". So, guess I'll have to find someone with that type of helmet and see what their using.
  11. When I took my 08 RSV in for Hannigan conversion, the oil was mid way in sight glass. When I got it back, the sight glass was full. I asked the installer why they added oil and they claimed they didn't. Seems that having the rake kit on the front changes the rake of the bike and therefore the oil collecting toward the front of the crankcase and causing the false reading. Just my theory...
  12. Tnx for the info George. I looked and there is no wiring or connector there or anywhere. Then called the installer, Huals Trikes in Cantonment, Fl., who said wiring was not there and was not part of the tow package option. Then called John @ Hannigan who said 'Yes indeed' the wiring was part of the tow package. Soooo, another example of the installers professionalism. I ended up tapping into the wiring under the driver seat and running my own harness to the back of the trike. Then come to find out thet the hitch ball was about 5" too low to mount the Time-Out Dart in a semblance of levelness. Had to get a 5" rise ball mount, and grind down the shaft so it would fit in the receiver. This whole Trike conversion by Huals has been nothing but a nightmare since day one.
  13. The 450 went haywire over the weekend. All the symptoms of the dicitizer screen going bad. Had it for 4yrs and bought the lifetime map updates. Called Garmin and was told they would replace it with a refurb for $175. Been reading posts on ZUMOFORUM web site and replacements for same problems were ranging between $75 and $150. Will have to talk with another Garmin tech and find out why the difference in price. I don't do ebay/paypal or else I'd do it myself.
  14. Picked up a Time-Out trailer from Tupelo over the weekend. LED lights, 5pin round connector. Question to U Hannigan Trikers---- How did you route the wiring from the connections under the seat to the trailer hitch??
  15. Problem solved,,, picked up a 2007 23' R-Vision Boogey Box, at an excellent price. Fully self contained camper with plenty of deck space for the trike and trailer.
  16. Tnx Jeff, will give that a go.
  17. My Hannigan kit was done in May and when I picked it up I noticed what I thought were several rub marks in the paint and a line or run across the back of the left fender plus some dull areas. I pointed it out to the installer who offered to take it to a local paint shop and have it buffed out if I would bring the bike back to him and drop it off for a couple of days. Not up to 2 round trips at 250 miles each, so decided to live with it. All in all, not overly impressed with the paint job from Hannigan.
  18. When this monsoon clears out and we get some sun, I'll try to figure out how to post some pictures. Actually, it looks exactly like B2Dad's trike, same year, color, conversion. I think my screensaver is of his trike.
  19. And he was quite right, pass it shall. My Grandad was a little more intolerant, He would always tell me 'You deserve what you tolerate'. Guess that's why I have high blood pressure and tend to vent so much.
  20. That also has crossed my mind several times over the last few months. Picked up the trike from Huals yesterday and trailered it home. Haven't had a chance to ride it yet due to the bad weather. They replaced the rearend and adjusted the floorboard so it's a closer fit to the lower fairing. Just have to wait till I get it back on the road and see what happens. Rick is a very nice and personable guy, don't understand why all the delays with mine.. He does trike conversions for all the different companies, he probably had 15 trike mods in progress when I was there.. Motor trikes, California side cars, Lehmans, Roadsmiths and of course Hannigans. I'm thinking an RSV-Hannigan was unfamiliar to him. That and the workload for the other bikes could be why mine was put on the back burner for so long. After all,,, mine was already paid in full.. Not the way I ever ran a business..
  21. "Brainfart" -- Found the kickstand in the parts pile. It and a bunch of other parts are available. Let me know...
  22. Got an email from Tim afternoon of 9/1 said the trike was ready. Called him this A.M. 9/2 to make sure they're open Saturday 9/3. They will be open till 2PM, so borrowed a trailer and will make the journey to bring her home. Would ride it home xcept we're under state of emergency for the next several days due to a 'Tropical Storm' coming this way with 15-20 inches of rain xpected. Sounds like just another 'WestPac' monsoon to me....
  23. I have an opportunity to purchase an 8x12 2010 enclosed trailer for $3k tomorrow. (distress sale, used once) Is this overkill on size to haul the Hannigan. What (I know, no one trailers their RSV) size trailer do you use?
  24. When I talked to Tim @ Hual's on 8/22 he said he would give me an update on 8/25. Nothing heard from Huals by 8/26, so called Rick. He said they had committments/priorities on other bikes and the lift wouldn't be available for my bike till 8/29. Reminded him that my bike had been in his shop going on 14 weeks (10 previous, going on 4 now) and maybe I was a priority?? Said my bike had not been in his shop for that long and when I started giving dates he implied it was not his fault, this was "warranty work" (not related to the initial 10weeks??) and that all the delays had been due to waiting parts from Hannigan. Asked him to contact me on 8/29 with update... Nothing heard till 8/30 when I got an email from Tim stating the bike was on the lift and would hopefully be finished by COB 8/31. Sooooo, today is 8/31..... Will it be finished??? Will the installation defects be corrected??? Wellll, today is 9/1. Got an email from Tim @ Huals B2T this morning saying the rearend and floorboard were finished, just awaiting test ride by Rick. Maybe it will be ready for pickup. The earliest I can arrange transport is Saturday, so maybe by Saturday PM it will be back here in the stable. No idea if the other items on the punch list were resolved.
  25. Amen to that!! When I first picked it up there were bolts not fully threaded into their nut's, wrong sized washers, paint scratches, floorboard installed about over an inch off, trailer hitch not centered, headlight bezel buttonbolt missing, exhaust tips not equally extended(nitpicking), one trunk hinge slightly off(nitpicking again). I had asked for ISO hand grips thinking that the cruisecontrol/weights would still be used, I was wrong, ISO grips were put on but no weights and no right hand rest as RSV uses. But, per them, that was the grips called for in the catalog. And I won't go into the fiasco concerning the replacement of the side bag that got burnt in the fire at Hannigan.. Other than that Life is Just Peachy.
