  1. From what I can read here, there are 2 groups,,,, some who buy a bike to ride and the importance of the ride is paramount,,,,, and then there are those who like what their bikes look like and want to accessorize the machine for looks,,,,, and then there are some that perhaps belong to both groups. For me,,,, I went a different route,,, well just because that's what fit my needs at this time. If I were to be looking at becoming younger,, then I would have stayed with the first gen, buuuuut, if I decided to buy new,,,, and RSV would fit the bill real nice,,,, but then you can guess what group I belong to. Hang on while I adjust the target!!!
  2. Happy Birthday Bob,,, wishing you many more, and that Robin will continue to serve to the best of her ability.
  3. WHAT??? Tippy's birthday??? and no party??? what's going on here. So we'll just have an on-line party,,,now how do you do that? Happy Birthday Tip, and sorry for being a little late, but better late than never I guess.
  4. You most likely have the knuckle that is behind the cover in the down position, it should be in the up position. Take the middle gear cover off to check it, and the quickest way to fix it is to take the cover back off again. Common mistake, seeing as the knuckle wants to be in the down position if left to it's own devises.
  5. Floats set too high,,, easily done.
  6. I like the 'rent a storage unit' idea. Would give you more room to do things with more pleasure. Buuuuut there is a cost!
  7. Caution!: second time is not nearly as fun as the first time. First time took me 2 weeks, off and on, the second time I hear is a piece of cake.
  8. I never did anything different than I do in the summer, other than try to make sure the gas tank is full and the carbs are empty and the tires are pumped to spec's.
  9. The throttle is your friend. You'll get out of more trouble with it, than with your brakes.
  10. We may not have it all together, but, together we got it all.
  11. What would happen if you woke up today with only the things you thanked God for yesterday??
  12. If, is a little word with a great big meaning.
  13. It's nice to be the same,,But,, it's great to be different!!
  14. That was for the down-under benefit, and maybe for some that aren't so down.
  15. I was there once,,, yep just once,, and it lasted a whole day,,, yep, once you hit 25 years the next day it's over and you're on to 26. Congrats and enjoy,,,, we just know you're going to miss NY and will come back.

    ive had it

Sometimes it helps to hang it on a tree, and then get back to it later if it's still hanging there. Often times we get all worried and concerned about things at hand, but once we leave it alone for a while, the perspective is different. In the meantime, prayers for you as well.
  17. This thread has potential,,, so be careful,,, pure speculation and possibility to go south.
  18. Glad you are still with us,,, seems that the Creator has left you a bit more time,,, use it wisely,,, and heal fast. Prayers on the way, in thankfulness and blessings.
  19. If you turned on the key without starting the bike the carbs would stay cool and you would have a lot less evaporation out of the bowls. Usually a person would ride the bike, get the motor hot and then park it, and so the heat from the motor over the next time frame will evaporate the fuel in the carbs,,,, not so much when the engine is cool. Also, if it starts and runs fine, then you are getting fuel and that is what the pump is supposed to do, so it seems like it might be doing what it is supposed to do.
  20. It's about time,,,, missed you already!
  21. Do a total rebuild,, you will almost be there anyways,,, the extra cost and work will be negligible.
  22. Just can't figure out why she feeds you so well,,, what have you done in return??? Ok Ok, we don't want to know, because you would brag about it anyways. Congrats young fella and,,,,,,, Congrats, CONGRATS!!! to your wonderful wife. Hope you two can enjoy many more.:happy65:
  23. Best I could find was the JMCB2003. Antenna can be found local a lot cheaper though.
  24. Best remember to unhook the bike battery, or else it will drain the extra battery. Maybe better to charge the bike battery, unhook anything not needed and then run all day. Seems easier to me anyways.
  25. When I had my 85 it would do that all the time. I usually shut it off by putting the kickstand down, then turning off the key and lights. When I would go to start it, I would sit on the bike, turn the key, flip up the kickstand, and then push the starter, which would make the bike chuck forward a bit but mostly would settle back where it came from. Yep, it's the oil I think, and I always used a good brand of diesel oil.
