Spouts??? what do you use them for?? we learned how to fill without a spout and wash the tank off as we progressed. After that we lit a cigarette to wait for evaporation.

Difficulty finding neutral
Marcarl replied to jsb777's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
All it takes for this to happen, is to have a wee tiny little air bubble at the head of your master cylinder. It all makes sense the way you describe it. So to fix that? Bike on center stand if you can do that, handle bars all the way to the right so that the master cylinder reservoir is above the head or attached brake line. Put a large rag under the handle bar area, a large thick rag, take off the reservoir cover and check the fluid level to be no more than 1\2. Now with the handle of a screwdriver tap the head of the master cylinder and the connector to the brake line as you slightly, slightly now!, move the handle in and out. Keep an eye on the fluid and you should see an air bubble come up. If not, wiggle the handle a little more deeply. If you are too aggressive with the handle movement you run the risk of breaking up the air bubble and it will stay where it is. -
Well if that's the way it is??? CONGRATS to you two, and may many more blessings come your way.

What kickstand? Is that something new?

Almost clapped at the screen!!

Does all that work for a 5th trailer as well?

I was always very happy with my 85, but I did have to fix 2nd gear. It's pretty much identical to the 83-84 but has a few good upgrades like larger passenger seat, larger trunk. It still has the calm shell bags which I thought were better than the top loaders of the 86-89.

Ya got to find a way around that problem Ben. If you were half as good at being Dutch as you are in writing speeches you would have the problem solved by now. Just let that Dutch blood flow a bit, knuckle down and put some thought around it and provide us a solution. Me on the other hand have no problem with giving the Americans a bit of our goodness, I see it as a bit of a payback for all they do for us. They take our SnowBirds, take our leftover snow and cold, buy our oil (let's not go there), and there are a host of other things that go South from time to time, and it's all because of them!!! So take it as you wish, but keeping them happy makes momma happy and if momma ain't happy,,,,,, you know the results.

Sounds real good Joe, bet it had something to do with the pressure you put on the dealer, who then pressured the rep, who thought it might be wise to make a phone call and eat some humble pie. But now, me being Dutch of Dutch decent and having just a little of that red still flowing in my veins, might have suggested to him that waiting is hard, very hard, but going out to buy a brand new Wing could be very easy. They hadn't delivered not even close to ON TIME so maybe a bit of 'see how sorry we are' would be in the offering. Glad you are happy at this point, and I am sure waiting to see that machine roll onto my street.

And here I heard somewhere that we have Free Speech in this country,,,, looks like it's costing Saddlebum some!
-
Don't know if this added info is any help or not, but when I spoke to our local boys about 4 weeks ago, they told me that in our district there were only 60 bikes available and that they had got their one and only and had it sold before it showed up. Like I said, I don't know anything, but the supply seems to be kind sparse. On the other hand, I see your issue as well and might well do the same as you're doing, it's just that it seems to be an exciting scooter and there is no where else to get one, except as our boys tell us,,, wait for the 19s. Bummer!!

I've been known to drop a 2wheeler every now and then, can I get on the list to give it a proper drop-test?
-
Ok, if Saddlebum don't have to post his speech, I'm going to take back all the nice things I said about ya. Just because!

I can understand the downsizing thing, it's an age thing I think, maybe it's got to do with bald heads and grey hairs. Gonna miss ya though.

To me the rider is an idiot. He should never, ever put himself in such a position, sure the cage did wrong, can or should be charged, but looking from the seat of my MC, I would have gotten myself somewhere else. It was a battle I could not win!!!! As a rider, one had better be prepared to always take the short end of the stick, we have nothing to fight with, we are super vulnerable and best get that through our heads before we stretch a leg over a saddle. To think that we are feared and are macho can be deadly, as the video shows. In this case it seems the cage moved over deliberately, on an other occasion it may be accidental but with the same results.

On the front tire, if you lift the tire off of the ground, spin it while holding a screwdriver to the tread and then to the side wall, it can tell you if there are problems with the tire or wheel. If it shows a wooble on the rubber try holding the driver to the wheel. On the cruise control I think you should trace the wires using a schematic. I have one I can send you made by one of our former members, it's easy to follow and color coded,, let me know. Can't help you with the switch or with going to bed.

So does this mean that you plan on keeping this one? or just setting it up for a higher trade value?

'bout the way it is for sure

I finally decided to pull the trigger on my Venture.
Marcarl replied to Flyinfool's topic in Watering Hole
For some of the same, but then again different issues, we decided to go the Spyder route. Takes a little time to get into the realm of things, maybe about 2x or 3x the time it would take to get used to a new 2 wheel, but it's a decision we haven't regretted. Today I look at the new Venture and think, wow, that would be a nice ride, but then I remember the last times I threw my leg over a saddle on a 2 wheel and although I have great memories, it holds nothing for me anymore. -
What's this word Vacation????? What are you vacationing from?? Cooking? doing floors? washing windows? working on the scoot? or just bothering the rest of us. Thanks for the information, we'll be sure to put it to good use!!

Reversing the shift pattern
Marcarl replied to s.tyler58's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Not sure how it all works with forward controls, but with the stock controls the linkage needs to be in the up position in order for the stator cover to seat properly. If the linkage is in the down position it will reverse the shifting, but you run the risk of cracking the stator cover. -
Thanks for sharing. I just think that a dealer like that needs to be recognized. That is how business should be done, but I also understand the reason for keeping their name off the paper, some folks might not realize that each deal is a new and different one. I do want to see your need scoot though, do I have to buy dinner to get that privilege? or put you up for a night?
