  1. This reminds of the time we went for a ride from Port Huron with Squidley. Calipern had an 84 that wouldn't start, no matter what we did, it would turn over but not start, until somebody got on it and through habit kicked up the kickstand and it fired just fine. I know you don't have a kickstand but I would check the connections in the circuit as well as the kill switch.
  2. Lookin real good!!! Now you need to find out how to design, fill out, and send out invitations.
  3. Check this out http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?90-Guides-Parts-Diagrams-Etc
  4. Yep agreed, and then when they are all polished, finish them with some Classic Cloth to keep them that way.
  5. First things first eh. Check battery, you did that. When you push the starter what voltage does the battery show. Next, check all the fuses to make sure there is power going through them, so check the load side connector. Also check the main fuse. Then post what you have found.
  6. Yep, now I remember, Off,On,Set. No resume. Guess that wasn't considered needed on the Mrk1, seeing as they mostly were where they needed to be before they needed to go again.
  7. She would look kind of funny when I got done!
  8. Maybe it's time to reiterate something many of us have learned. Yes we are a motorcycle focused 'club', at least it started out that way back in the early 2000's. Soon though, the members found out that only relating to each other about motorcycles and motorcycles only, that the air would get stale and their own interest waned. So humor was added and it wasn't long before tears were also shared, and through all that we came to realize that we were family. Maintenance Day was born, because we discovered that although words could help a fellow man, actions spoke much louder and from that more MDs were produced. Within the forum things also grew and we shared not only MC but many other things, hence were have a prayer request forum where we can post things or happenings that we need help with, that is more than us humans can deal with. We also have forums for other things, take a slow look at the forum list, it's plentiful! So when and if we have sorrows and troubles, we know we can come to our Venture family and ask for assistance. I hear that this is one of the quickest forums for response to requests for help and understanding. I for one want to keep it that way. When we start cutting each other up and take issue with something that might not seem quite right according to rules, we are not building up, but tearing down. It would be best to have the moderators handle those issues, not that we are so good at it maybe, but just because! Just send us a note and things will be dealt with. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?218-Moderators , just another forum. Something attracts riders to this forum, and it isn't bickering that is the attraction. Stick around a while, and discover what it means to be part of the best riders forum on the internet.
  9. Bet he had scuffed shoes and wasn't allowed across the border.
  10. So did you try that trick again?
  11. Oh Crap, here I thought I could slow down for a bit, but you're keeping right up to me, Another birthday eh? soon to be retired I bet. Well, congrats and wishing you many more. And didn't I tell you that Marita wasn't too old to learn yet, took me a while, but seems I learned her good! Good picture, looks like an artist that knows you well.
  12. This is going to be something simple and stupid. Maybe it's the kill switch.
  13. Yep, that's the way it worked when I owned it.
  14. I never had an issue with the CC on my 85, but I can say the green light works as it should. Turn on the CC, it goes bright and then half bright until you set the CC.
  15. I think most of us have 'been there done that'. Don't they ever give these things to some dummy to figure out before they produce and package them? Glad the beer was good, and I assume that Momma is happy.
  16. You might try to replace the fuse that deals with this circuit, don't just look at it or test it, replace it.
  17. Just because we are not posting, doesn't mean we're not thinking.
  18. So you think you have gas. Next is, do you have spark. Fire it up and when it dies check a plug for spark. I know, it's assumed that you should have, or assumed that you don't have, but check it anyways. In order for an engine to fire you need three things, fuel, spark and compression. If one is missing then you need to fix that. Check first, don't assume.
  19. It's all about the folks south of the border and their funny speak. The real offer was Kate and Edith too, at least that's the way I heard it!!! Kate does windows and Edith does the floors, and then together they do the yard to get a nice suntan!!! Just wondering who does the laundry. and oh ya, wash the scoot.
  20. Pond monsters are a tale of legend, and, as you might know, legends aren't always based on fact. Now, I for one, have seen evidence of activity in Don's pond some years ago, but have since not even seen a ripple, so I figure that those, who would be looking for physical evidence, would be well advised to put their interests elsewhere. I would declare that the pond is now totally devoid of any serious afflictions. It should be quite safe to have a swim.
  21. CRAP!!!! if somebody figures out how to point those things to the rearward, then the 2nd gens might get to the 'beer' first.
  22. I was in Sandusky once, at least I think I was, but then maybe not. Where is Sandusky? Well at least you got a reply.
  23. If beads don't work and it runs perfect at 60mph, I would be looking into something that might be setting up a vibration. Doesn't seem to me to be a tire imbalance, I would think there would be some indicator at 60.
  24. Maybe check the battery voltage and the stator output. Could be that your passing lights use more than your stator is putting out, in which case your voltage would go down and take out your speedo.
