  1. If it were my scoot, I would replace the stator, it's getting dark on the bottom and that usually indicates heat, too much heat and so it looks to be replaced with a newer model. Gears look fine to me, but you could have a starter clutch problem and you can find that by removing the flywheel, that's the bolt you are asking about. Removing the bolt is the easy part, just turn it off with an impact, then comes the funner part, getting that hunk of metal to jump into a basket. SO! Remove bolt and store for later use, you will need to keep that hunk of metal in place later. Find a good solid puller, not a 2 point, needs to be a 3 point attach, squeeze it on tight making sure it is level, put a basket infront of the whole business with some rags insatlled, squeeze on the puller some more (I had a 2' bar on mine) and then using a solid piece of metal, I used a hammer, slap that silly thing right on the nut. Stand back, because if it lets go it come out of there in a hurry, might even take a day or two. I'm not sure what would happen if you applied some heat in the process, but I might be inclined to add that in if I were to make another attempt at it. Now you can see what shape your starter clutch is in because it will be right there in the basket for you to look at. Good Luck!
  2. http://slingshotinfo.com/wcf/images/avatars/77/718-77afdb9387c8e48eb9f15142b0b15164ff6398d3.jpg Is this the one you were thinking of?
  3. That's the number I got. White pages list it as well, but when I call message says disconnected.
  4. Just wondering on the whereabouts of Puc. He hasn't been on site since last Friday, and that is not like him. I tried his listed phone number, but it's been disconnected.
  5. It's the little round ball at the bottom that is causing all the problems, cut it off with a pair of very sharp sidecutters and the liquid will be all together. You could have just asked us you know, we have answers.
  6. My 85 and my Spyder won't have any issue with that road, they'd just be taking it easy so that their Master(s) could enjoy each and every minute of the time spent there. Now me?on the other hand? I'd be staying right PUT at the start of that journey. I know me by now, and driving off that road would be tremendous pull, one I would have to fight all the way down. Heights and me just don't get along much, so we have an agreement, we don't get together!!!
  7. Have you taken a shower lately?
  8. I'm using FF and had no issues, it popped right up. You could give me your bidder info and I could bid for you if you like. Anything there I might want?
  9. My first thought about your comment was: YOU!!! go sit in the lake, but actually you're almost right spot on.The 2 of the bike and the one of SleepyII.
  10. Personally I have had problems getting those screws to have much in the way of an effect without some instrumentation. What I used was a vacuum gauge on the same ports as you use for the sync process. You would be looking for the highest vacuum attainable, and then back off maybe an 1\8 of a turn to lean. I'm not sure if the carbtune would be sensitive enough to accomplish that. I use a single gauge, with a 4 ported manifold to do my syncs, and so once the sync is done I can do the screws, and then check the sync again.
  11. ALLL right!!! Now you got to the part that I'm and expert in!!! Need any help with the resting and eating?
  12. Thanks Sleepy, it was a good day and it all seemed to work out. Got lucky again! And you're welcome anytime. Glad you took at least 3 good pictures.
  13. I have no idea what it might show, but might I suggest doing a dry compression test on #3 , and I would do multiple tests seeing as the vacuum loss is sporadic.
  14. After I massacred my basket I think I just rattled the nut on with an air impact. Did that a few times and haven't heard of a problem yet.
  15. That #3 would have an occasional drop in vacuum has me confused. When you sync, or anybody does a sync, it has nothing really to do with spark or firing. All it really does is to adjust the throttle plates evenly so that each cylinder gets very close to exactly the same amount of air. It is then up to the carbs to deliver the right fuel mixture and the ignition system to boom it. So doing a sync at 3k can throw things off, for if a throttle plate was 10% of at idle it would only be off 2% at 3k (not scientific or real at all). The vacuum gauge is only used to judge the throttle plate position, that's all. So now we have 1 cylinder, #3 that has an intermittent vacuum drop. For some reason, either the piston isn't drawing air, the intake valve is opening, you have a loose boot, there is a hole in the diaphram, or something, something is causing the lack of vacuum. I would chase that down first. Are you sure you weren't pinching the vacuum line? What sync tool are you using?
  16. The basket is held on by a nut. I wouldn't worry about a new washer, but you'll need some special tool to tighten the nut back on. Just sticking a screwdriver in the basket to keep it from turning is not healthy, unless you have another basket handy that needs a home. Don't ask me how I know this, it's top secret!! and yes, I thought I could do better than the instructions. You can make a tool yourself with some wood and nails. You will need to hold the basket from turning the engine isn't going to do that for you.
  17. If you have a propane torch, blow some propane around the outside #3 to see if that makes a difference, just to check that everything is sealed up properly.
  18. So maybe take this as a double checking question. Did you get all 4 carbs to dial in correctly? all the same when you did a sync? Did you do the sync after to installed them this time? did you try the carb cleaner in #3 while it was running? did you sync at idle? and leave it there or did you adjust again at 3k?
  19. Before you go through all that, do a second opinion. Take off the air box and spray carb clean or WD40 into #3 . If it fires then most likely you still have a carb issue, if it doesn't the problem lies elsewhere.
  20. Opps sorry, yes that would be good info for some. Daughter #1 Dororthea, daughter #1 Nicole, daughter #1 Marielle, pronounced Mary-el-a The other 2 GGKids from: Son #1 Eric, son#1 James, daughters 1&2 Bella, and Mazzie or something like that.
  21. Well so much for my thoughts on getting a Spyder forum on this site, I thought Eileen might have a little push on that, but that probably went down FlyinFools drain as well. Hope it works for you guys. Marca and I have discussed it at times, but so far we decided to stay with the present. Maybe sometime down the road, but it would have to be easier to get out of, so maybe a different brand. Marca like to crochet while we travel anywhere distant. She could do that on the 85 but the back draft on the Spyder doesn't allow for that. Always something!!!
  22. Having faith that all that is needed will be supplied.
  23. So a SS for your birthday eh? Enjoy both, and don't let Eileen steal either one from you, especially the birthday!
  24. Did you know that you have a crack in your windshield? Thanks for the update, we were thinking of one as well, but just didn't know what brand to get.
  25. Smelling better already, glad you go it done, I was getting afraid of going on the site, especially to this thread. Butt snot so bad now.
