  1. It's been a while since this thread started and there's been lots of changes. So which one is it today? Still a GOPro? Maybe the Hero5 or Hero6? They seem kind of pricey. But are you getting what you pay for? Here's my story: Marca bought me a remote car starter and at first glance it seemed really a nice idea, but then we got to discussing it and discovered that it would be used very little. We have a Dodge pickup and a SantaFe. I use the pickup mostly and the SantaFe is for her use. She rarely goes out on her own and the Dodge is parked close enough that I can physically start it and fire up the needed accessories at the same time, so no real use when at home. The only time it would be handy is when I'm out plowing snow, then I could fire it up when we're close to done, and that would only be about 5-6 times per year, no real reason to have one and the per event costs would be outrageous. The Dodge is a 2008, so not a whole lot of years left in her I think, at least not when a remote starter is figured in. So we decided to invest in an action camera for me instead, but now, which one? Don't ask me what I plan to use it for, I don't have one, never used one, so I'm green when it comes to these things, although I'm thinking that maybe next year, or for my birthday a drone might be thoughtful item. So I need some answers to some questions. 1) If you have one, what do you use it for? 2) If you don't have one, why would you want one? 3) If you have one, do you use it at all? 4) Suggested brand and the benefits or lack thereof. 5) How long do batteries last? 6) Does the data transfer to my computer or do I need to use a cloud? BTW, cloud usage is out of the question for me. 7) Is it necessary to use a specific SD card, or will others do the job as well? 8) Any issues with service? 9) Or anything else you might find important to share.
  2. Just checking the time,,, it is 6:30 correct? So the host will be there what time?
  3. Never did see a silver 83, but that doesn't mean it can't be or shouldn't be done. I have seen lots of different colors though, some real nice, others not so much, but then beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
  4. May the peace that passes all understanding be yours. There are and will be many times in our lives that we must suffer and deal with loss, sometimes a loss so great that we can't see the tunnel, let alone the light at the end of it, but if we ask, we can receive a peace that goes far beyond our sorrow and I know that you have it available to you all. As you go through this time of mourning may you be comforted by His Spirit and rest in the assurance that one day all this will all come to an end and we will be in peace and harmony forever. A great mystery for sure! Blessings to you all as you discover yet another aspect of our Father.
  5. And oh, somebody nearby who can tell us how it should have been done,,,,,, after the fact only though!!
  6. Happens during investigations, that's why we have welders, machinists, hot glue, JP weld, fiberglass and on and on.
  7. Ya we need some pictures to record it in the record books, if there ain't no pictures, it just didn't happen.
  8. Just be careful with those tires, I don't think they were made to be used at these temperatures, they may be a bit stiff and not grip at all.
  9. I've never had to play with a 2nd gen antenna, so don't really know how the whip attaches to the base. Guess we'll have to wait for some of the rest of the boys to sober up and get bored so they can help out.
  10. If the only problem was that you had is a loose antenna and the threads on the base are fine, then all you need is the antenna part. If there is a break in the lead, which could be caused by a sharp bend or a pinched area, then you'll need the lead. Next question is, do you want your CB to work or is this just for radio only? For radio only, or reception only, almost anything will do, but for CB transmit you will need to match the antenna to the radio or you'll stand the chance of burning out the radio.
  11. I would say that at your age, if you get up and down the drive it would be considered. Now for me? I would at least want to go around a city block to put that in the record books,,, as long as the block only has 4 houses on it,,,, one on each side to be clear!!!
  12. I would think with your smarts you would have this figured out by now! What you do is register that you will be attending and then tell the boss that in August of the year 2018 you will be in the USofA, no arguments! He can then plan to have you do some of your work where you are for a change, rather than have you go where the work seems to be. It's really a no-brainer the way I see it. My boss has no problem with the concept, now that she has learned how to deal with it. It did take while though, and she had to adjust a little, but she did succumb in the end and now thinks it wasn't such a bad idea after all. See you in August!!
  13. If you change the date then maybe I can come.
  14. Not so sure if it's the door making wind at this point of if it's something else making wind, but I do agree that we can blame it on Bum. I think he's off for the week, so it might just happen that we'll have to put up with this nonsense until he goes back to his day job next week. You know,,, when you're good at something and get blamed for it as well, you might as well as much mileage out of it as possible.
  15. Ben,,, you is a Fool, you have to learn the difference between open and closed. I went down to check on the hole situation and found that swinging thing was going both ways, not only standing open but creating a breeze in the process. I had wondered about this because it had quit snowing here before they said that it would, so that must be what prompted The Fool to energize the White Wash Machine some more. Good work though, everybody in the neighborhood got their white Christmas. You may also notice that when you leave the door open too long it creates a draft, something more or less like when the mouth is open toooo long,(but that's another story for a longer day). Now this draft you created has sucked all the cold from the far north and dropped it right here on our doorstep. Hey, it's cold enough now to freeze the nuts off of a steel bridge, lucky for us though, we don't have a lot of those left so we'll have to go back to brass monkeys. Yes, I made some SnowMountains. Got to get some pictures today when we go to fix what broke in the processes. The boss says that we have enough for right now, but I think he may be a bit mistaken or just dreaming. I plan to finish what I have started and those mountains are not near big enough yet.
  16. Looks like some interesting work you got ahead of ya. Take your time, do it all right, 100% right and you'll not only enjoy the doing but also the results. 'Santa' comes my way around New Years, it takes him a little longer to put my stuff together, guess I'm not that easy to please as some others, or maybe I'm just not Big enough, after all, they don't call me Big Carl.
  17. You mean to say that there might be 2 Bobs that have a birthday today? None other than you big guy, none other, I wouldnt even let Bongo get in there edgewise, even though it might be kind of difficult.
  18. So I wish to send a birthday greeting to one of our best,,,, not that we have none best in our group. Happy Birthday Bob, and may you enjoy many more!!!
  19. WHAT????? we don't get to vote on this???? I thought we were a demoncratic society!!!
  20. Awe come on, what's with you anyways,,, all day long you're singing ' I'm dreaming of a white Christmas' and now listen to ya,,,, THAT'S SNOW!!!!! Don, it's the white Christmas you were dreaming about,,,, Hello???? wake up!!! Isn't it PRETTY???? Thanks Fool,16 hrs so far and now today and tomorrow yet Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow
  21. Our buses even have Christmas back on their signs,, it's about time!!
  22. Hey!!! that's neat. Have a good time and a Grand Christmas.
  23. Glad I live in Canada and am of Dutch decent. We found the perfect answer and have big families to prove it. Our philosophy is: if the population is getting smaller, it's best to get busy and make more. A little wine and beer might help in that dept, but too much wrong exercise could jeopardize growth. If you are getting fat then you are not helping out enough, and if you think you might be getting a heart attack then close your eyes. And you need to speak Dutch, that goes without saying. Hey, just look at the younger Dutch living in America. They no longer speak Dutch, and now have smaller families, and so now also succumb to Americanization. Conclusion: Speak Dutch & Make more kids!!!
  24. In our neighborhood, back when I was a younger lad, we had some varmits that would go around and dump over neighborhood outhouses at hallowen. Our next door neighbor's outhouse was in for a yearly episode, and they were quite used to having it on it's front side come morning. It was no real problem for them, for they took the opportunity to clean out the 6 foot pit before setting it back up again. He would wait up until he heard it go over, fire off his shot gun and then go to sleep. The last time this happened he moved the outhouse 5ft forward before going to bed. He waited for the culprits, fired off the shotgun and went to sleep. Didn't have that happen again, I just can't seem to remember why,,, and no, it wasn't me.
  25. Check the plumbing dept at Home Depot or Lowes
