  1. Thanks Don. I know what they are but the question is where do the screws fasten that hold the twinkies in place - from what part of the engine/frame are the screws ? I am also wondering how the carburator covers are fastened. Me and a friend of mine in Iceland "that works for a company that cuts out mirror steel" we are working on making one cover that will fill up the whole gap from the bottom of the VEE all the way up to the tank. We are also considering cutting out "Venture" or whatever name one requires in the cover and put some colored plexi behind and some LED lighting. Don´t know if this is understandable but I will make a insertion to your picture to try to show what I mean and post later tonight. Are you getting rid of that nasty flue my friend ? Friendly regards from Iceland, Jonas
  2. Dave ! Thanks so much for the file. This is simply awesome to have - all models and owners manuals in one file as well as easy access part list - Faaaaantastic Friendly regards from Iceland, Jonas / StarFan
  3. I reject this statement As far as I know there was never so much blossom in your garden before you installed my private outdoors toilet. Even the birds get lost in the growth Make sure my toilet does not get clogged up ! it is for liquid use only ! And move my trunk and stuff out of the basement please Hope the "Green Mile" is still Green
  4. Have been thinking about fabricating a one piece cover for the whole gap between the cylinders that go all the way up to to the gastank. What I don´t know is how these twinkie covers as well as the carb covers are fastened to the bike/frame ? Most likely I would have to make a bracket to bolt on the bike/frame that the cover would then be bolted on. Could someone tell me where these two covers are bolted on the bike/frame ? Friendly regards, Jonas / StarFan
  5. If it is only one disk I will back out with pleasure
  6. Sorry - Made a mistake. I mean the RS Tour Classic 96-00 disk Friendly regards from Iceland, Jonas / StarFan
  7. Hi Dave. I would be interested in the 07 to 2001 Royal Star Disk. I would be happy to pay for the shipping and any cost involved to Iceland. Let me know if this is still available and doable. Friendly regards from Iceland,
  8. Well, if Skydoc_17 (Earl Harrell) does not chime in, then send him a PM. Rest assure that he will know what is wrong and how to fix it.
  9. I think you need some Black Death my friend ! Want me to send some over ? That stuff will kill just about anything
  10. I just bought this upgrade kit from Earl and changed out the half disk and the spring. I also noticed that the bolts holding the spring were streched a little and one actually snapped when I loosened it. Decided to take no chances and changed all the bolts just in case. Really like this upgrade. The clutch is more firm so to speak and I have no slip at all. Only about one and a half hour work. The most time consuming thing was getting the melted gasket off. Anybody can do this. Be careful not to overtighten the spring bolts. They have a very low torque - 5,8 ft.lbs. / 70 in.lbs.
  11. I presume you are taking your Venture and salting it- Right ?
  12. No,,,He had to little Black Death. This is what happens when you get hooked on the stuff and don´t get enough of it served ! I really like this stuff. Have found no other thing that is as good as getting oilstains off my garage floor. Do I drink it ? - Common - give me some credit guys
  13. We actually have the same salt/sand being spread over the roads here in Iceland. But when they use it it is always after the snow starts pouring or the roads are getting very icy so one would not ride the scoot anyways. You have a long riding season there Andy - much longer than ours - Got me there for sure Ride safe

  16. Tom - I like the blonde lady in the last picture best. Merry Christmas my friend and give Vicky and your family all our best wishes. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Iceland. Jonas and Greta.
  17. Well, yesterday 23rd. of Dec.I took my bike out for a ride after rejetting the carbs to see how everything was working. 50 mile ride with dry roads and temperature of 41° Fahrenheit. Never could figure out why the guy who found this island called it Iceland ? Most likely was not much of a businessman - On the other hand the guy who discovered Greenland and gave it a name was a business man for sure. Riding season in Iceland is roughly from April throughout October with some days in the off season months. Whats the riding season in Ontario Andy ?
  18. Thanks to StarFan for finding this excellent video. I have move this to the Tech Library at his request. Don Found this neat video on youtube on how to change the speedo face on the 1996 to 2001 Royal Stars. Very detailed and recorded in good quality. Had started a thread some months ago asking how to do this with no results. Should/can we add this to the Technical Library ? Here is the link: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLDGdo0DzZw]Changing the speedo face on my cruiser XVZ1300 XVZ 1300 Yamaha Royal Star - YouTube[/ame]
  19. You Canadians are lucky. Here the price today is US$ 7.41 / US gallon. Welcome to ICELAND !
  20. No Earl Scheib fixing here ! Paint the thing professionally in the Camellia Green and Ivory Cream color of the bike and make her purdy ! Tom likes riding in style Need to get them black pads though for the armrest or have the thing covered with new vinyl. Lets think about it - I will check the prices. Tom - I guess I never bought the trunk itself did I ???? Don´t think it will look good with only the speaker unit Getting old - memory is fading fast ! Thanks for the pictures Tom - Have a trunk at Craigs/Cecdoos place, complete with the frame under, but gonna use that for my bike here in Iceland. One way or another I will get all parts needed so we can get to work Let me know if I am right about the trunk itself missing - thought I bought one from PinWall about two years ago but not sure (darn they are expensive ). Thinking about PillowTop Venture seats - Gonna try to borrow a set here in Iceland and see if it can be done with some modifications. Never could understand why they discarded the keylock quick release seat when they designed the Venture - The 1998 Royal Star has it and it is a great thing to have. Lets see what I come up with. Yes Tom - We are gonna go all the way with this project (yes - I am still allowed in the house - that might chance though
  21. So sorry. Fell asleep before it started. Not a lack of interest - I blame it on the time difference. Six hours Norway/USA and I am ahead of you guys. But actually that should not keep one away from such an exciting thing as the Naked Chat. Is a thong allowed ? I feel to naked without it Am I happy my Greta never goes online vr.org
  22. Seems to me that quite many Venture owners have had the problem of the lightbar hitting the fender. Have an insurance bike that has two dents in the front fender from the lightbar. The forks are sticking up from the tree since the bike has been lowered in the front. Previous owner told me he has never put air in the tubes nor checked the pressure and most likely that caused the denting as well as he might have exceeded the maximum linit of the tubes sticking up from the tree.. When lowering the front one has to be careful not to exceed the maximum, that is the tubes sticking up more than 1 1/2 inches. That is an absolute maximum. Apart from that, airpressure has to be controlled at all times and I fully agree that putting in stiffer springs and changing the oil to a more heavyweight oil is a logical thing to do. When I get home to Iceland from Norway (at work) I will pick up the bike from the insurance company and the first thing I will do is to set the forks at 3/4 inch max, new oil and have the fender repaired as well as other repairs needed. Don´t want to see that fender being dented by the lightbar again. If I was gonna keep the bike I would surely put in stiffer springs. Good luck with Hannigan. Friendly regards from Iceland, Jonas
  23. Be very careful when lowering the front regarding how far you go. Anything more than 1 1/2 inch can result in damage to your front fender. Then this can happen if you loose the air in the forks (see picture). This damage is on a bike I bought from the insurance company. The forks have been lowered and the previous owner told me that he rode hard over a big bump in the road, and the result was that the driving light bracket or some bolts there under hit the fender. I am abroad and can not have a look at this now so the description is from the previous owner, that is, what happened and what hit the fender. When I get back home I will have a look and measure how far up the tripple tree the forks are, the air pressure in the forks as well as what part did actually hit the fender. Will post the result in this thread.
