Glitches on my 2004 Midnight Edition
BoomerCPO replied to Hal Lutzinator's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Hal....If the Dealer replaces your ignition switch have the Service Tech install stainless steel mounting bolts with Ny-Loc nuts on the switch when he mounts the new one. Those tamper-proof bolts that Yammi uses on those ignition switches are a real pain to get off. Once your Warranty is done you will have to replace that switch yourself in order to save $$$$. -
No need to do that with 2nd Gens....They are always on the road!

Yo CMIK.............I have relatives in Opelousas, Church Point, Ville Platte, and several other locations down there in Coona$$ Country. They call me insane for living in Noo England too.....

I like the idea of having a cig lighter in that location.... Does anyone know the amp load on that accessory plug under the seat? -

I'll do some snooping on my end and see if I can be of more help to you. Also....the LED Pod has a upper row of WHITE LED's for license plate illumination that is far better than the 1157 bulb as well. -
Headlight bulb........

I don't remember the exact name for the unit. I put it on my bike last year. I suffer with CRS (Can't Remember S**t) LOL! It is a Pod of led lights that fits on the inside of the light cover. The 2 bolts which hold the cover on also holds the Pod in place. The pigtail runs from the Pod and has the male 1157 plug which goes into the bulb holder. Took me all of 3 minutes to install the gizmo....and I was born with 4 thumbs when it comes to stuff like this. LOL! -

MY 06 had the 1157 bulb. I replaced it with the high-intensity LED Pod that I bought from Cruiser Customizing for $60. The LED Pod comes with a pig-tail that fits right into the bulb holder. REALLY high visibility tail light!! I carry the 1157 as a back-up bulb. -
Dave.....Rick states a quick turnaround on the seat work. He specifies that you ship the seat USPS Priority 1st Class and he will ship it back the same way.Sounds like less than 2 weeks time no matter where you are shipping from. I have sat/rode 2 Ventures that have his seat mods.....the difference and comfort is unbelievable! And.....you will sit lower on the bike as well. Regards........Boomer

I just got the Garmin Street Pilot 2720 for $125 off E-Bay. Sadly it will NOT fit any Ram Mount because the unit is for vehicles and NOT motorcycles! Sooooo.....I slapped the unit into my truck and man that is one sweet GPS! It took me a whole 3 minutes to set it up,get "HOME" locked in, and even figgered out how to use the gizmo. I'm happy(for now)but will really be happy when I get the Garmin for my bike.

Headlight bulb........
BoomerCPO replied to BoomerCPO's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I'm going to try the PIAA and keep the OEM bulb as a backup. If the PIAA don't last a year I'll send it back to them for either a Refund or a new replacement. Any bulb other than the OEM has got to better at lighting up the road....and that is my main goal here really. I consider lighting a major safety issue right up there with tires/brakes and riding with caution. -

I'm wondering if the vibration has anything to do with the short life span of these Silverstar bulbs:think:.......PIAA does offer a 1 year Warranty on their bulbs and they do specify anti-vibration.That is why I am leaning towards buying their bulb. -
Headlight bulb........
BoomerCPO replied to BoomerCPO's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks to all for the info! I am leaning towards putting in the following bulb: http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/images/image_24714_150.jpg PIAA Powersports H4 Xtreme White Plus Anti-Vibration Bulb (Single) Cost about $45 but PIAA does not sell cheaply it seems. And yes I intend to carry the OEM bulb as a spare on the bike. -
CB Question
BoomerCPO replied to algie1100's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Get near an Interstate and put it on Channel 19. The long haul truckers use that Channel. Also....I know CB's require that the SWR be set properly between the antenna and CB radio but I have forgotten how to do that. It requires an SWR Meter which can be purchased at any Radio Shack. I only use my CB on group rides to monitor talk between the Ride Captain and Tailgunner and I never transmit. Also....Make sure your Squelch setting is not cranked up too high as this will prevent you from hearing other folks chatting on the CB. -
When we get our 1st snow of the season here I don't go on the road with any vehicle. Folks just refuse to slow down and the pileups are everywhere! So much injury/death just because folks are in a hurry...........can't make any sense of it .

Ride with Respect Ozzie. And bless you and all there for doing what is RIGHT! The Patriot Guard Riders across the USA have been doing Missions here for years.....and the tears flow from us all even though we have not met or know those whom we ride for. It is all about RESPECT and HONORING those who have truly earned it. Regards and respect..........Boomer

If there is a Boat Marina near you I would check there first....They also may be able to steer you to a reputable Canvas Shop if they don't carry what you need.

Prayers and good thoughts coming your way!

When I signed up for PayPal over 2 years ago I also got the PayPal Plus MasterCard. Whatever I buy I always pay it off in full every month so they don't get any finance charges from me. No problems to speak of regarding this set-up.

For the Ipod you can also purchase a power cord that plugs into the ACC port on the fairing.....this will not only keep your Ipod battery fully charged but also provide power to the Ipod as you are using it. I have never had good luck with batteries....had a few of em leak while they were in storage on the bike.

A bit of info concerning the Ipod's........None of them are weather proof and this includes cold temps. I recently bought the Ipod Shuffle. Holds 250 songs. Cost vary but I got mine from Amazon.com for less than $50....It has a pocket clip which allows you to keep the unit inside your jacket where it is protected from the elements and cold temps. The Ipod Shuffle will also go up to 18-20 hours between recharges which is a lot better than the standard sized Ipod. The double-male connector can be bought at Radio Shack in different lengths to accommodate any set-up on the bike which you decide to do. Ride on and Boogie with tunes.........
