You know the rules.... No Pics, didn't happen! LOL Congrats on the new bike, hope it serves you well. May even get to see it on day if we do move there!

I'll third the Redwings! I bought a pair when I worked in the Middle East in the '70's.. Finally got rid of them a few years back. Long after they saved me from severing a few toes when I got a bit energetic with a garden spade! Course, don't know if the quality is the same now, but worth a try.

So very, very sorry to hear that news. Sometimes life just sucks! Thoughts are with his family at this sad time, RIP Dan! You will be missed.

well here in the great white north, :canada:we have a different system. Can you believe that? LOL We've just had a few changes to our gun laws courtesy of our illustrious leader & his sycophants. I'm pretty sure the following is correct... To purchase a new handgun, we go to the store/ seller show our "restricted" licences (all handguns in Canada are classed as restricted, along with some long guns) Our background checks are completed as part of obtaining the licence in the first place. A license is valid for 5 years. The store/ seller has to then check with the RCMP (Federal Police firearms section) that the licence is valid. (supposed to be a simple phone call) we can then make the purchase & pay. BUT we cannot take the firearm home. Not yet! The store/ seller then applies (again to RCMP) for a change of ownership. Once this is approved (it can take a few days to 4-6 weeks to get approval!) & the necessary paperwork is in the buyer's posession, the firearm may then be collected from the store BUT first we have to apply for an ATT (Authority To Transport) the firearm from the dealer/ seller to home. While transporting it must be unloaded, in a locked case & have a trigger lock fitted. All paperwork must be in the vehicle with you, without it we are commiting a CRIMINAL offense! Afterwards, the ONLY place we are now allowed to take a restricted firearm without an ATT is to a range that we are a member of. To take one anywhere else (eg gunsmith, show, competition at another range etc) we have to again apply for an ATT (& that applies to every restricted firearm we are transporting) without an ATT for every single firearm we are committing a CRIMINAL offence! This ATT nonsense is so that criminals can't transport firearms without prior approval. At least that's the way the Guvmint sees it. 'Cause of course if you're going to go out to commit murder, or armed robbery you'd be really worried about not having the right pieces of paper So that's what we have to put up with.

My Vulcan 900 is a 2006 LT version with 12,000 miles. (Import from the US) Leather Bags, Screen, backrest, floorboards etc... I love it! It's the bike I passed my test on. Bought used from a local dealer (who brought it up from the States) about 6 years ago Much lighter than my RSTD the Vulcan feels so "chuckable" really it's amazing how much lighter & more nimble it feels. Yet can still tour with both me & my wife on board & we are not small people! I too am in the "downsizing" category & though I really like my 2009 RSTD (20k km) it is a big heavy bike so that is the one that will go & I'll keep the Vulcan. For the type of riding & distances we are able to do now, the Vulcan is ideal. I got the RSTD as we'd planned to do longer multi day trips but that didn't happen due to various health problems. One thing I would like to change on the Vulcan however is the seat (no surprise there) though not in the awful category after 1-2 hours I/ we do need to take a "numb bum" break! General Maintenance is pretty simple, Disc brakes, belt drive, water cooled, nothing is too difficult to get at, diy Oil changes are easy, injection not carbs so a benefit there imho & has never failed to start first time even after standing a while. Changed out the stator that went bad a year or two ago, easy swap, I run it on Rotella T6 & no problems at all. Very easy to maneuver around parking lots, low speed but very willing to pull away when needed. My personal opinion it's one of the most underrated bikes out there. If you have a deal I say go for it you won't regret the decision I don't think. Hope that helps. Let us know what you decide.

:sign yeah that: I seem to remember the can-am was bought for Eileen, then it was changed for Slingshot. Hmmmm???? Couldn't get her to drive it, cause you were sat in HER seat! LOL

As you say Puc a scam, legally operated but still a scam & disgusting that they can get away with this nonsense! Here in BC we also pay an uninsured /underinsured motorists protection insurance, so that if you're hit by someone who is under or uninsured, you can still make a claim. The premium used to be $25 per household, then last year they sneaked it up to $35 & that is now per vehicle (including bikes).

I'm seriously thinking about giving up riding much to do with the cost of insurance. We get royally screwed here & there is absolutely no way around having to use a totally inefficient, incompetent, extortionate Gov't monopoly. No competition at all! Insurance rates are being increased FOUR times this year due to the insurers $1.3 billion loss this year. My insurance this year will be around $1200 & that is after a maximum allowed 43% "Good Driver Discount" BS!!!!! Beats me how thousands of insurance companies around the world can operate at a profit & provide good rates, but the Guvmint gets involved and....

Far too many of those a$$holes out there. We don't know what had happened previously BUT the cager should be brought up for attempted murder in my book. That was a deliberate act to try to injure or even kill the motorcyclist.

Growing up in the UK we got very few westerns, so Like Freebird I watched, very few too! But they included.... The Lone Ranger Roy Rogers & Hopalong Cassidy Wagon Train Wells Fargo (with Dale Robertson) Bonanza The Cisco Kid Daniel Boone Bronco Davy Crockett Last of the Mohicans Maverick (Brett & Bart) Gunsmoke (Chester & Mr Diiilllon!) Rawhide The Rifleman Have Gun Will Travel Where have all those good programs gone? Was just telling my wife about this thread & my list above she just chimed in... as well as some of the above, she also watched: Cheyenne (Clint Walker) that's one I'd forgotten Bat Masterson (not heard of that one!) She also worked (in costumes) on Hawkeye the First Frontier (1994) she made a lot of the native jewelry for the show. Films? I loved most of the old Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns. Eli Wallach & Lee Van Cleefe were incredible! There are just so many good westerns out there, maybe there should be a "TV channel" that shows nothing other than westerns. What great memories.

Guess they are around the same price here by time you factor in exchange rate. Last time I bought CCI mini-mags they cost me $32 on sale normally around $36. -

Can't say for certain but I believe most regular gas 87 octane contains "up to 10%" ethanol. Most, afaik 91 oct in Canada is ethanol free. (I think that's what a lot of marinas sell for boat owners. Costco 91 here in BC is ethanol free as is Chevron 93 (or is it 95?) but some on here advise against using the higher octane gas as it burns at a different temp & may cause unintended problems. I always thought using a higher octane gas was better but it seems not. Pretty sure someone will chime in with the why's & wherefore's. Flyingfool seems pretty up on all that stuff. I use regular but every so often run a tank of 91 through. For any storage period I try to have non ethanol in the tank & carbs & also use seafoam occasionally.

Nice looking pistol there Don. As you say cheap ammo (in comparison) up here it's around 10c-12c a round for CCI Bulk is less but often causes problems. Probably a lot less down there. -

That's one nice looking pistol & you have some great friends! Where do I get me one of those? There are some really nice 22 "cowboy style" pistols out there, & that is certainly one I'm going to look at. Thanks for posting! Must admit I'm leaning more & more towards 22's. I know some say they're "not real guns" but I'm getting older, have some neck & shoulder problems & these things can provide just as much fun, & for me that's what it's all about. The ammo is a lot cheaper than anything else too. Anyway, with the way our Gov't is headed that's all we'll be able to shoot soon (if at all) Hope it provides many hours of enjoyment for you! Yes! But a lot harder to hit as more cans get emptied! LOL -
I guess as the makers don't know exactly where the unit will be used they have to cover their bases. So a thinner oil in cooler climes would be better than a thicker one. Maybe that's why the 10W-30 suggestion as opposed to straight SAE30. I know that many small engines specify an SAE 30 oil, as in stationary engines the oil plays a bigger part in cooling as well as lubrication. My yard tractor specifies: SAE 30 when temp is above 40F 5W-30 or 10W-30 when temp is below 40F & down to zero F OR Synthetic 5W-30 or 10W-30 at all temps from below -20F & over 100F! So I would say you should be pretty safe with the T6 15W-40, its may be a bit thicker in ambient summer temps but I suspect in the land of sunshine you'll be OK with it. Just make sure you're not going to invalidate any warranties by using the slightly thicker (in summer) oil. PS: my snowblower also specs a SAE30 & the're only expected to be used in low temps. I've been running 10W-30 dino in all my yard machines at all temps & they all seem to be ok with it. Hope that helps

I would guess maybe because he's paid by Henry Rifles & it may not be a 22 he's holding. It could be any one of Henry's models that look similar to the 22 Golden Boy. As for the "real rifle" I've no objections if you're going to supply & pay for the "real rifle" ammo -

Must admit my pockets aren't that deep & I also have a $1000 stupid ding (just didn't see the bollard!) in our Jeep to pay for It's nothing like the same I know, but I am seriously considering one of these: https://www.henryusa.com/rifles/golden-boy/ the Lone Ranger & Tonto, Hopalong Cassidy were my faves!.... My! that was a LONG time ago. -
Anyone taken their digeri out and played with it lately??

Never ceases to amaze me the diverse interests of folks in this group! I first came across the didgeridoo in the 50's & 60's in the UK, there was an Australian entertainer/ artist on kids' TV called Rolf Harris, he used to play one & it really is a fascinating sound. My wife's nephew has one, around 6ft-7ft long & he makes some pretty good sounds playing it. It's all in the (re) breathing, which he's pretty good at. It's a neat instrument! Love the sounds it makes. Our nephew used to live here in BC & was travelling (flying) to see his folks in Ontario a few years ago for Christmas. He wanted to take his digi & show them what he could do. We took him to Vancouver airport but the airline insisted his digi could not go as cabin baggage & had to go into the hold as checked baggage. He wasn't happy about that & didn't want to get his digi damaged, so he asked us if we would take it back home with us, keep it safe & he would collect it on his return to BC. It lived in its case under the bed in our guest room for about six weeks. I was sort of hoping he'd forgotten about it, but he hadn't! I have thought about making or buying one but I don't think I have the discipline it takes to learn. You may like these: You Tube is your friend! -

We recently had quite a news/ media campaign here in BC about just that. It showed many video examples (taken from the buses) of drivers ignoring the STOP sign & flashing lights. Now buses are being equipped with cameras to catch violators. I do wonder though if this procedure encourages (or even trains) kids to wander out into the road without looking, by giving them a sense of immunity. (eg I can't get hit 'cause the cars have to stop!) I have often come to right turns & kids walking parallel with me will just walk into the road without even checking to see if there's a vehicle. I was brought up to stop at the kerb, actively look for traffic & then cross quickly. Again in this Province "kids" (well, adults too) just wander into the road with impunity, assume a motorist WILL stop & always have that "You daren't touch me" look on their faces. No point saying anything, you just get verbal abuse. & don't even get me started on the frickin' cyclists! PS I would query the cop's statement. Turn lane or not the kids from that bus could walk across that road in either direction. Maybe the arguement is that the turn lane makes it a divided highway? But it's not! Like I said, kids could walk either way unimpeded across that road.
