  1. Hey Pucster, I went out shopping today too, spent a bit more than $45 though :mo money:but I didn't tell my wife she was cute.... was that wrong of me? She is cute though & I do tell her most days! https://www.cabelas.ca/product/89655/remington-model-783-camo-bolt-action-rifle-w-scope?productVariantId=257821&bc_pid=MTI3Njg1&utm_source=trigger&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=bf_windowshop&obem=IDRla7Yvhusu5ak9oSlf4jZXLmDdV5gj3BvfcjwbuKk%3D&bc_lid=13 & if there are any negative reports on it I don't want to know! LOL I did research quite a lot & it seemed to be quite highly regarded for the price. Won't get to play with it though till next week, this weekend we're making Elk meat sausages! Mmmmmm! ps I also looked at a 4-16x44 Vortex scope but that was more than $45 too!
  2. YA! Right... but I do like his tool chest!
  3. Full support from me Don (not that that matters) but isn't it always the same? The stupid minority always spoil it for the respectful/ decent majority. Makes me I'm sure if you explain the reasons to genuine prospective new members they will fully understand & agree. Guess we have to be thankful that we've avoided this crap for so long!
  4. I know pics don't always give a true representation of condition but that does look like a very nice bike. It would imo be a real shame to "rat" it. But it is your bike now! Enjoy it whatever you do with it. Do keep us all in the loop with pics of your project.
  5. Most people at the border are asked "How long have you been away? Where did you go? Any purchases?" "Any Firearms, Ammunition?", "Any Alcohol or Tobacco?" they are the standard things they ask most folks. I don't think you have been singled out particularly. Unless of course you just look suspicious LOL Re the club: My bad, I understood from the website last time I looked that the Gun club problems had been sorted & that agreements had been reached. Sadly it looks like our justice system fubars again! So sorry to hear that! Anyone who expects nothing louder than conversation noise at a gun club is just but if it's left to our PM there won't be any gun clubs left at all in Canada. Has anyone thought of launching a Go Fund Me Page? I had a similar experience in the UK. A developer bought a rural farm property, close to mine, converted the buildings/ barns etc into multiple living accommodations, the people who later bought these properties then tried to launch lawsuits because............ Sheep in the fields around them were bleating & spoiling their enjoyment of the countryside!!! FFS There really are too many stupid people in this world! Thankfully in the UK Judges told them the farms & the sheep were there before you bought the property... Suck it up Princess!
  6. Thanks but, That's not the case in this instance. They DO accept orders from & ship to Canada. It's absolutely nothing to do with firearms & nothing to do with shipping to Canada. The company has informed me that there is absolutely NO problem with shipping directly to Canada & there are also NO US export restrictions (or paperwork) below $500. Countries other than Canada that value is only $100. The problem is having items shipped to anywhere other than the billing address BUT ONLY on Foreign orders! As for the RCMP & customs thing, I & many friends cross the border & have never been singled out for checks other than the usual border crossing queries. I'm also well aware of the problems On SSI with their Rod & Gun Club. It's a shame, but afaik an agreement has been reached between the club & the "neighbour" on that score & the club is operating with some restrictions on shooting times & noise. I too have ordered stuff from other US suppliers & had no problems whatsoever. I'm not looking for any answers here, there are none, the company just has that peculiar policy, It was just me having a moan & a gripe!
  7. Not sure that's the case here as they would ship directly to me in Canada, but then there's all the add on costs that wouldn't apply if I bring stuff across the border/ customs in person, plus there's this Postal labor action to contend with. Order now & get delivery in Feb or March! It appears that it's only foreign orders that they won't send to a different address, I guess domestic orders are OK shipping to different ship/ bill addresses. Other foreign orders are capped at $100 but not Canadian ones. The company says Canadian orders can be up to $500 with no Gov't permissions required. Ah Well! As my old Mom used to say worse things happen at sea! LOL
  8. Nooooo! It was a sketch & song by Monty Python (LOL)
  9. Thinking of getting a Remington 783 in 223. was just thinking about putting a nicer stock on it. The rifle would be quite usable with the regular supplied stock... but you know what it's like when you see something & think "that looks amazing!"
  10. Great Job! Most of us are so very lucky that we never had to endure anything like that! & Yes it is good to regularly remember the hardships our parents & grandparents endured.
  11. I live just a few miles from the Canada- US border. I have often ordered items not available (or cheaper than) here in Canada from US companies, Amazon eBay etc etc... I have my order shipped to Sumas Wa. & then either drive or walk across the border (at the designated entry/ exit point) collect my item/s & return. I declare items to Canada Customs who then charge me any applicable import duties taxes etc. I also pay any invoice by Credit Card so there is no chance that the supplier won't get paid. This avoids paying often outrageous international shipping charges, (shipping within US is often free), customs broker fees etc etc I recently contacted a well known after market rifle stock manufacturer as their terms indicate that: Orders with a FOREIGN BILL TO ADDRESS & DOMESTIC SHIP TO ADDRESS will NOT be processed! So I e-mailed to ask if this applied to Canadian Customers, & YES it does! So, I'd have to pay international shipping fees, PLUS customs duties & taxes (no objections!) but also possible customs brokerage fees (which I do object to) By the way before anyone says it, this has nothing to do with export restrictions as I did ask & was told that the rifle stocks are not restricted & are therefore not subject to Gov'r export restrictions from the US. In addition we currently have a Canada Postal Workers dispute ongoing & we're told that there is now a HUGE backlog & that packages currently in the system from foreign addresses may not be delivered until Feb. or even March 2019! So I wrote back to the company & said sorry but your inflexible attitude just lost you a $200 order. I suspect they really won't care. Color me frustrated.
  12. I looked at that link too! All I can say is Wow! WTF???? Pleased this website isn't like that! You keep on trucking Puc. Don't forget man... there's lots of us that love your stories & input & Now for something completely different (as Monty Python used to say) absolutely nothing to do with this thread just hope it raises a smile! Cheers!
  13. Ha! You beat me to it... I was going to say That's one helluva conversion from a coupe to a PU Truck! LOL Love that truck a friend of mine is doing a 5 window Chevy Truck (the one with the curved windows in the back pillars) I think it's a '52?
  14. https://www.autoblog.com/2018/11/12/dubai-police-hoverbike/ WooHoooo!!!!
  15. Ya! Of course they did because THEY don't know any details. It's ridiculous being asked to vote on something that has absolutely no detail attached!
  16. Similar happens here too, politicians follow the party line, they don't represent their constituents' views at all, their loyalty is to their party! I recently wrote to my Federal MP telling him that I & many friends won't be voting for him next election... Why? Because he has simply followed the party line on yet further useless firearms control, that will do absolutely nothing to address the problem of gangs & violent criminals, which is where the problem lies. But will merely serve to make life more difficult for law abiding firearms owners. Our recent local Provincial election resulted almost in a tie with the two major parties... What happened? 3 mp's from a minority party joined & supported the left party, so 3 people with their own agenda hold the balance of power. So, now we have a referendum (a condition of the minority party's support) to change our voting system to proportional representation. We've had TWO previous referendums & in both proportional representation was overwhelmingly rejected... but here we are again! I guess the politicians will keep at it till we vote the way they want us to! Anything for power! (& to waste money!) For me is why people are apathetic & don't vote!
  17. On my RSTD Definitely both, sits above (about 1-2") & back from the FB about 2" sorry the pic is poor but it's dark in the garage.
  18. People who use wheelchairs aren't necessarily "bound" to them. I've seen many people who can't walk get out of their truck or car & maneuver themselves into a wheelchair for shopping etc. I saw one invalid recently with a small crane on the back of his PU truck for lifting his wheelchair. Nothing wrong imo with an invalid riding a bike & then needing to use a wheelchair for mobility. He she will ride the bike & then transition to the chair when needed. Good on him or her!
  19. Hmmm! Usually I agree with much of what you say Puc, but I'm not sure that one holds much water. You seem to be suggesting that there are no pot smoking gun owners down there!

    SeaFoam

I'd never heard of the stuff until a few years back when I saw its virtues being plugged on this forum. I now put Seafoam in the gas I use for all my yard & lawn machinery, 2 & 4 stroke engines. Certainly doesn't do any harm.
  21. Being serious for a moment.... Pot can now only be sold exclusively through Gov't run stores, a Gov't website & private stores that have the "new" Provincial Gov't Licence. In the whole of BC there is ONE Government Run store (in Kamloops) Stores that were selling pot prior to "legalization" (ie they had obtained a "legal medical dispensing licence") are now being raided by the RCMP & stock removed. Many of these same stores have applied for the "new" Gov't licences but they haven't yet been approved. One has to ask why? It's reported that licences are taking anything up to 12-18 months to be issued. So in the transition period from "grey" market to the "new" market it appears that the RCMP is free to raid these stores (that have been operating as legal medical pot dispensaries for a number of years). The Minister responsible has also stated that the police will be free to confiscate cannabis without a warrant if the new rules are being flouted! Hmmmmm! All sounds rather nefarious to me!
  22. Traffic Check Stop in Canada from now on..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOoL1V6vCk4
  23. It's all about ONE thing.............. TAXES! :mo money: How can we get the population to give us yet more money to waste but make them feel happy about doing it? & they are falling for it
  24. Any recommendations for shipping a car cross country? My nephew wants to drive from Raleigh, NC to Seattle, Wa in the Spring BUT he wants to fly back & have his car shipped from the Seattle area back to NC. We've heard a few horror stories so are looking for reliable, preferably personal recommendations. Anybody used a good vehicle shipper? Any advice to offer. Thanks in advance!
