  1. Just an aside.... ICBC & their agents here in BC seem to make the "rules" up as the go along. Like the time I claimed my senior discount on my bike insurance (wife & I are BOTH on title as registered owners) with ME as main driver. (Wife doesn't drive it at all). Our ICBC agent was adamant that in order to claim the senior discount we BOTH had to be over 65 (my wife wasn't at that time) The agent even went as far as completing a "change of ownership form" to transfer the bike into my title only. I decided to check directly with ICBC. She was wrong! I as the named main driver was entitled to claim the senior discount. My wife being on title had nothing to do with it. So it all depends on whom you speak to. I still have ICBC's response e-mail... just in case!
  2. Erm! No.... seems ICBC tend to flip flop, (doesn't surprise me!) below is a link to a Slingshot forum discussing exactly that topic. Seems some have them insured & registered as cars some as motorcycles. I have most definitely seen them being driven here in the Lower Mainland by people NOT wearing helmets. https://www.slingshotforums.com/threads/registering-a-slingshot-in-british-columbia.2010/ Here's something else I came across: In Canada, Polaris’s product manager, Garrett Moore, says the Slingshot is legal to purchase in every province except Nova Scotia. Again, each province determines its own legislation: they all require only a car licence, except for Alberta which wants a motorcycle licence, and they all require a helmet, except for British Columbia which is happy with the seat belts and roll bars. Here's a link to the full article: http://canadamotoguide.com/2018/12/05/opinion-breaking-the-rules/
  3. Unlike around here where our idiots ban garden fires in pits, cages etc but allow campfires at camping spots in the forest .... Sometimes I despair! We currently have over 30 wildfires burning in BC 28 we are told are human caused. I see morons flipping cigaretts out of car windows almost daily!
  4. Oh Yeah!!!!! But we're not allowed to say things like that are we? It's not PC & our PM will have to apologize & beg their forgivness!!! They were also mostly farmers & fishermen (sorry.... fisherpeople )
  5. Forest fires will ALWAYS burn themselves out when they run out of fuel, wind direction changes, rainstorms put them out. 200 years ago is not even a drop in the ocean of time, as for what did they do... they got the f**k out of there or they died. Simple as that. If one looks at the "history" of the word we can see that the earth has been through many heating & cooling cycles over millions of years. Man is very arrogant to think that he can control nature. Carbon taxes & all the other silliness to "stop global warming" are a crock thought up by ignorant humans! Mostly politicians & those with a vested interest in & I recall reading somewhere that it would only take a 1 degree shift in the earths axis for us ALL to become toast (or freeze to death) & there would be absolutely nothing we humans could do about it. Though environmentalists & politicians would be running around like headless chickens opining their "solutions".
  6. Duh! No things aren't THAT bad...... Yet!!!!!!!!!! My bad, apologies... I've added the link now. Bear in mind that the firearms mentioned in the article could very soon be banned & not available. Bill C-71 was passed in the Senate today & will become law within weeks
  7. You know... some of you guys just have to learn to say, "When I've finished doing MY project darling!"
  8. Absolutely Correct! Firearms are classified by the RCMP & often those that they consider to LOOK dangerous are classified as restricted, irrespective of their ballistic properties. As I understand it, anything based on the "AR platform" is automatically classified as restricted. But there have been many similar firearms introduced that are NOT AR based but look similar, that are classified as non-restricted. There is a definite trend towards banning firearms based upon their looks. The whole classification system is a complete shambles! If you're interested here's a very good Canadian article that highlights Non-Restricted Black rifles available in Canada. All of these would be considered as "assault rifles" by the general (non-shooting) public & would be prime candidates to be banned I suspect. https://www.huntinggearguy.com/rifle-reviews/top-10-non-restricted-black-rifles-in-canada/
  9. Puc it's the same here, this is NOT going to change a single thing. The real problems of of gangs & other "social" problems are not being addressed.... but law abiding firearms owners are the "easy option" & it fulfills a requirement to be "seen to be doing something" by a certain section of our populace. Like I said over 2 million legal firearms owners are are about to be punished for the handful of miscreants who cause the problems.
  10. Please note this is NOT a political post, so PLEASE don't turn it into one, (it's very difficult to post this without it seeming political so I hope it will be allowed to stand) it's merely meant to inform our friends in the south what is about to be perpetrated here in Canada. It looks as if the warm brown stuff is about to hit the fan.... It would appear that a certain snowflake is about to ban (yes you read that correctly) BAN, the sale of AR's & all similar looking firearms! The thinking (from the industry) appears to be that current owners will be allowed to keep them, but no new sales/ ownership will be allowed going forward! Currently owned ones will then be CONFISCATED & DESTROYED upon the death of the current owner!!!!!!!! There is no news currently as to what will happen regarding handguns (these were also included in a recent Ministerial Investigation the terms of reference which were to "Investigate the Banning of All handguns & Assault Weapons without infringing the rights of lawful Canadian gun owners" An Oxymoron if ever I heard one. This is being done without a Parliamentary discussion or vote of any kind in the House by using an "Order in Council" It is also rumoured that this new "law" could be extended to apply to any repeating firearm (eg pump shotgun) It's expected that our PM will announce this travesty in Vancouver at the beginning of June when he is due to speak & apparently bringing with him the PM of New Zealand, so.... what does that tell you? A sad Day! I always thought we lived in a Democracy seems we have become a Dictatorship ..... & no-one noticed! The reasoning behind all this is an attempt to "cut gang & gun related crime!" Say WHAT??????? Last I heard gangs & criminals don't obey the law anyway! Like I said at the start PLEASE don't turn this into a political thing, I'd hate to see Don have to shut Puc's thread down. I have no words for what is happening at the moment!
  11. Great Job Pucster! Keep up the good works & keep on having FUN! You seem to have a lot of it... Good on Ya brother! I had my 70th b/d this past week.... it's all flying by waaaaay too fast!
  12. Wow! Incredible, there was one of those in one of the James Bond films & I thought it was an imagined thing.... Obviously not! But I'm guessing cutting a building in half (as in the film) was a bit of "artistic licence" LOL
  13. & as we we all know that rental cars rev waaaaay higher & go waaaaay faster than anything else!
  14. I have been told previously by Canada Post (in the UK too, & Luvmy40 seems to be saying the same for the US too), that postal workers can only access exactly the same information that is available to the general public. (i.e. when mail is processed IN or OUT of a particular facility) if it's anywhere in between those facilities your guess is as good as theirs as to where it may be.
  15. Funny thing Dion, we were talking about just that earlier today. Get a bill for $$ plus extra cents... tender the additional cents & they just can't work out why you gave them the extra "change". It really is getting scary.
  16. I know it's a worry but that sort of service is not unusual from Canada Post. BUT please don't forget Quebec is in a bit of turmoil at present with some quite major flooding in numerous areas, So that may be a legitimate reason for the delay of your package. Your package still stands a good chance of being delivered. But when is anyone's guess. Previously we have sent both letters & packages across country, they have taken anything from a few days to NINE weeks. Just recently it took FOUR weeks to deliver a b/d card within BC, a total distance of approx 120km! Some time ago a b/d card to a friend took some six weeks again within BC. There is chance for your package; I know the service is disgusting & costs keep on increasing but this time there may be a legitimate excuse!
  17. The frightening thing Jeff is these people are allowed to breed.... & vote! LOL I really thought the video I posted was a set up (there are a number on YouTube) but..... maybe not!
  18. So, how many slices do you get? Pretty cruel of her boyfriend, if she's seen this video I'm guessing any "privileges" he had may have been curtailed!
  19. I took up Archery when I was a teenager, (late 1960's) Had a recurve bow on & off for many years in the UK. After moving to Canada (2002) I got my wife into archery, we both took coaching qualifications & we were instrumental in setting up an archery in schools program locally & we taught kids for a number of years, both in schools & at local clubs. I'm also a competition Judge (referee). Most of our equipment is target oriented. I have A W&W Winact riser, with various recurve limbs, my wife has a PSE X-Factor again various limbs plus a Merlin Vision compound. She has a Provincial Silver medal plus TWO Robin Hoods to her credit (on shot in competition). I also have two Hoyt Protech compounds & a while ago added a Diamond, Infinite Edge Compound. We also have a number of Samick & Rolan low poundage recurves that we used to tech kids (& adults). We don't do much now but should try to do a bit more, unfortunately a rear-ender & subsequent shoulder/neck injuries means that we have to be very careful. A couple of times we've had our m/c riding group over for a BBQ & an afternoon of archery. We gave instruction & they all seemed to thoroughly enjoy it & we've had numerous requests for repeat performances! A Great Sport, & as yet the Gov't has interfered with it as they have with firearms. We enjoy target but also love the 3D shoots. If I ever have a few wooded acres I'd set up a decent 3D course to play on! Found some pics of one of our M/c archery days, all we gotta do now is teach these guys to shoot these things from the saddle LOL (Just joking Mr LEO!)
  20. Wowzy, Wowzy :wow::wow:To use your own words Wishing you a VERY Hope you have a GREAT DAY! Cheers my friend!
  21. Agree with a lot of what Flyinfool said. I held a UK m/c license for years before coming to Canada, after coming here as I hadn't ridden for a number of years I took a training course in 2012 & took the full BC m/c licence road test. The course used 250cc Yamaha cruiser style bikes. The owner said they used cruiser style bikes as they were "more difficult to ride well" than the off-road style bikes that most of the other schools used. I just found the 250's felt way too small & insecure for me (6ft & 200lbs) The school also had VStar 650 & 1100 Yamaha cruisers that felt much better. But the 650 Yam felt a bit cramped for me. Before taking my test & so that I could get some daily practice in I bought a Kawasaki Vulcan 900cc & was totally delighted with it. Heavier, felt more stable on the highway & in winds, also Ok for riding two up. Years later I also bought my Royal Star Tour Deluxe. A much heavier bike (& TOp heavy too) Now that initially "heavy" Vulcan feels like a toy when I ride it, I guess my techniques have improved too. It's all about familiarity. I have to say that when I was looking, many folks recommended a 650cc bike as an absolute minimum. I was astounded, because when I was a young guy 650's were seen as absolute monsters! (eg Triumph, BSA etc) Shows how things have changed. I would add that 650cc cruiser style bikes have a completely different power delivery 650 sport type bikes. I would definitely go along with the recommendations I was given back in 2012 & would make similar ones for your daughter, but I think she's leaning more towards "sport bikes" from the models you quoted. In our riding group there are a LOT of lady riders, many own 650's fewer have 900's &1100's but they all love what they have. There were a couple of young ladies riding Suzuki & Kawasaki 350 & 400cc sport bikes too. But completely different riding style to the cruisers. Tell her to try some out, see what feels right for her. A bike that's good for one rider may not suit another. Good luck to her! Hope my ramblings help.
  22. It seems delivery (of anything) is becoming a real problem. Up here it can take weeks just to get something cross country, It took FOUR weeks for an AIRMAILED b/d card to get to my brother in the UK. So it arrived late! I live close to the border, so I am able to drive over & use USPS, on accasion. Last time I did that it only took three days total to deliver a package from Sumas Wa. to Raleigh NC. Pretty impressive! Your saga Don is not unusual, I do wonder if it's because many more people are now using "mail order" delivery services & they just can't cope with the volume. I recently looked at ordering some felt polishing bobs for a Dremel tool online. Price... great! In stock.... dispatched in 2-3 days Freight was $5, BUT then it says expected delivery MID MAY!!!!!!!! OK I realise it's because it's coming from China most likely, but a MONTH???
  23. Don't mind the green too much as grass doesn't usually grow in the winter months. But I know what you mean Jeff, I cut ours a week back, it's rained a lot since then & now it needs cutting again! Bah! Humbug! I say! I do have a ride on though so that makes it easier, but with an acre it still takes around 1.1/2 hours & there are some parts I just can't get to with the ride on so that has to be done by hand. I'm getting too old for all this crap & would much rather be doing something else to fill my time!
  24. Sorry to hear you wasted your Saturday! I really don't know what's wrong with people nowadays, why lie, you're going to see the stuff before you buy it, so why say it's something it's not! Sometimes I just despair with people. Hope you drive was pleasant at least!
