  1. I'm sure you're aware but do make sure that you don't leave the table up held only on the hydraulics. From what I understand you are supposed to get the table up to where you want it, then lower it onto the "safety" bolt, thus taking pressure of the jack seal & the hydraulics.
  2. My RSTD fit on one that a friend had. Congrats on the purchase Richard! Hope it serves you well & yes! they are bloody heavy!
  3. I've seen a few of these "cheaper knockoffs" & they do seem quite sturdy. we have an outfit up here called Princess Auto that is similar to your Harbor Freight, they have a very similar unit. https://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/1-000-lb-hydraulic-pneumatic-motorcycle-lift/A-p8667784e Probably out of the same factory in you know where! Coule of reviews, though not sure about the reviewer that says it's made of cast iron... it's not, it's steel! The only criticism I've seen/ heard is that some don't like the front tire clamp, there are better clamps available. But aftermarket ones can be retro-fitted these can be added as aftermarket, certainly for $300 it's a bargain imo! Do remember that you are NOT relying on the hydraulics to hold the table up, once it's at the height you want it you insert a pretty hefty locking "bolt" drop the table onto the bolt, that then locks the table in place. Better wheel clamp: https://www.amazon.ca/Prograde-Motorcycle-wheel-chock/dp/B01IE48NMK/ref=sr_1_8?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvZuvvOiP4wIVDcRkCh2DOQWkEAAYASAAEgJ2IvD_BwE&hvadid=238381937229&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9001521&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=b&hvrand=5742712035872361499&hvtargid=kwd-295788917179&hydadcr=25968_10284410&keywords=motorcycle+front+wheel+chock&qid=1561849970&s=gateway&sr=8-8
  4. You could keep all that ammo you just bought in the trailer!
  5. I think maybe someone got the make/ model mixed up. Kawasaki do the Vulcan Voyager. That looks very much like a Venture Royale. Though there are pics on the web that say Yamaha Voyager BUT most seem to be Venture Royales. So are you buying it?
  6. I think you need to buy another rifle, hows about a .223 or a .243!
  7. Love it! Not sure it may not be a bit distracting though? & is it DOT approved?
  8. Ya! My thoughts were leaning towards the Bendix, I don't think it's the battery as it does the same thing even when using a known good battery Thanks Marcarl, that's what I've been doing up till now, but I really thought after a dozen or more tries the other day that it really wasn't going to start. I think I'll check & clean or even replace the Bendix gear.
  9. Ya! Good advice but I probably couldn't afford the tires never mind the machine! LOL
  10. Thanks for the info guys, Don, I've never adjusted the valves, not even sure how to do that, but willing to have a go if I can find out how to do it. Must admit I was thinking more along the lines of bad connections, solenoid or starter motor bendix etc so now there's another avenue to check if that route proves fruitless. Thanks again all much appreciated!
  11. I have Craftsman Lawn Tractor, it's around 14 years old & has given good service, Briggs & Stratton twin engine. I keep on top of servicing oil/ filter changes, battery (kept on a maintainer when not in use) battery is two years old. Just trying to get to the bottom of a problem I'm having. I try to start it & the engine kicks (as in it tries to turn but doesn't) I hear a loud clicking sound, it can do this many times at each turn of the key, then suddenly it turns over properly, starts immediately & runs fine with no problems or hiccups. I'm going to check & clean all the terminals (battery, starter motor etc) for corrosion (high resistance) & also that I have a good ground connection from the battery to the frame. Maybe it just needs a new starter motor but before I do that..... Any other suggestions as to what may be causing the problem?
  12. Thanks for the sympathy Condor! I know things are different down there but it seems like you have similar idiots running the place as do we. Here, basically what our idiot PM & the Minister for Public Safety are trying to do is stop criminals & gangs by restricting what firearms can be owned by the trained, legal & licenced guys & gals. It's a bit like saying "we're going to stop all the impaired drivers by taking cars away from everyone!" As you say at least you have your Constitution to fall back on!
  13. Hi Cowpuc... That is exactly what he tried to do, when they wouldn't do that, he then tried to order online & deliver to my local store for me to collect. Here's the reply I got from them after I complained: (Basically, we don't care!) I apologize for your recent experience. Unfortunately, Cabela’s Canada in unable to accept any international credit cards and would be unable to process the order online, or charge the card at all. Seems they just won't accept orders online using a foreign credit card!
  14. Beautiful Condor hope it gives you lots of pleasure! Please spare a thought for us north of the border who are being threatened with all sorts of bans & prohibitions should our idiot PM & his sycophants win the upcoming (October) election. Firearms prohibitions & confiscations are being used as a political lever & vote winning tool
  15. My Brother lives in the UK, I live in Canada. I recently celebrated my 70th b/d So my brother wanted to get me a gift that I would use & asked for my input. I told him there was a rather nice Vortex 6.5-20x44mm rifle scope currently on sale at my local Cabela's (& in their online store) so.... He tried to buy it online, have it shipped to my local Cabela's store where I would then collect it after providing proof of my identity. (standard procedure when collecting items ordered online) Payment would have been made on his "international" credit card, which would have paid Cabela's in full, in Cdn $$$ at the time of purchase, BUT their system would not allow him to make payment. He contacted their "help line" via e-mail & explained the situation, but was told that they were unable to help & merely suggested he send me the money to purchase the gift myself. Yes! we are well aware that is a solution, but he wanted to send me a gift, not money! I have been a fan of Cabela's since they opened a local store but alas no more if that is their attitude to customer service.
  16. I'm not even looking 'cause I just know it'll p*$$ me off BIGTIME! You guys already pay waaaay less than we do up here in Canukland so if it's even cheaper I just don't want to know!
  17. Hey Puc thanks for all the laughs ... hope you took the plastic off that ceeegar afore ya lit it! & boy them Canuckians seemed a bit aggressive :stickpoke:with all that horn honking, not like all the polite ones here in BC
  18. Good on you, please you got the problem sorted! Those medical problems can be a real PITA (even when they're not "in the a**!") Hope all goes well for you from here on in!
  19. I had hoped my wife would ride the Vulcan when I bought the RSTD, she's had a mc licence since her teens, but she was quite happy to sit on the back of the RSTD & enjoy the scenery & help with navigation!
  20. Heck!!! Stockton-on-Tees! That's where I'm from too. Born in Norton, Lived & worked around Stockton most of my life till moving to Canada in 2002. You have some fabulous & often deserted roads around there! NY Moors, Dales but maybe not quite so deserted now! Yes I know what you mean about watching it ride away... But we do know the buyer so no doubt we'll see him & the bike again, it really sounded good going down thew road (I've not heard it like that before 'cause of course I've always been on it!) I put LA Choppers mufflers on it so sounded very nice but not raucous. I was actually looking for a Vulcan Nomad 1600 when I fell across the RSTD.
  21. Funnily enough the Vulcan is the bike that also got me back into riding again after a looooong break, it's also the bike I took & passed my test on. (I had to do a full theory & road test in Canada) even though I'd held a UK bike licence from being 16 years old. I may sound silly but I do have a bit of an emotional attachment to the Vulcan. I bought it in 2012 It's a 2006 (US model) Classic LT in superb condition, with less than 14,000 miles on it. (it had 5600 miles on when I bought it) But you're right about that seat, I have considered a Mustang or similar aftermarket but I don't want to splash out $600+ to find I don't like it! Our seat isn't bad we can do an hour & a half or more & I've been told that it's not a standard Vulcan seat but that it was made by one of the aftermarket outfits for Kawasaki. (How true that is I don't know, but it does look slightly different to other seats of that period) Only negative is the speedometer is calibrated in mph so I have to think about speeds here in km/h. Or move south LOL (I know.... it's not a difficult conversion)
  22. Well, it had to happen one day! I have very mixed feelings, but..... I decided to let my RSTD go. We still have a Kawasaki Vulcan 900 not as powerful for two up but still capable if we do undertake any longer trips (which is unlikely) but I loved the RSTD, it had real presence on the road! Acceleration & stopping power were/ are phenomenal. We didn't ride at all last year for a number of reasons, health, time, insurance costs, inclination & so the list goes on. We bought it in 2015 intending to do some longer trips but alas that didn't work out, we did have some fun with it in the early days & it really is a beautiful mile munching machine that deserved to be ridden & not just stand in the garage. So it was all rather fortuitous, a very nice guy we sometimes see & talk to at our local coffee hangout recently had his bike stolen, we were talking & I mentioned that I was thinking of selling mine. He asked for details, came & viewed it the next day & decided on the spot he'd have it once he had his insurance sorted out. 2009 in immaculate condition & with only 24,000 km on it. So yesterday he came a collected it. He tends to do longer trips so the bike will get used as it was meant to be. I wish him many years of trouble free riding! I told him about this forum & I think he joined up & did a lot of research in the month it took to clear his insurance. I'll still be hanging around for a while.
  23. Ya! We all have those gota do jobs. Congratulations on defeating one of yours! But as it was wheel bearings maybe it was TWO jobs off the list! Anyway well done on the work for today!
  24. Here in BC most (all?) 87 octane regular gasoline has 10% Ethanol. Pumps are usually but not always marked "may contain up to 10% Ethanol" Chevron 94 is available which is non-ethanol. (around 22c/L premium) I'm also told that Costco 91 is non-ethanol too (around 12c/L premium)
  25. Maybe the difference is whether you sit IN or ON the vehicle. ie in a 3 wheeler such as the slingshot you sit IN like a car, whereas with a can-am or similar you sit ON (astride) it. But you are totally correct ICBC are a complete waste of space (& our money). I have never come across such an incompetent insurance organisation! BTW here we are encouraged to wear Hi-Viz Jackets & White helmets (both like Motormen LEO's wear) as they are more visible. Go figure California huh? Weird State! (& everything there is liable to cause cancer!)
