  1. Is any one here planning to go to Thunder Beach in Panama City Beach, Fla. on Sept.23- 27.I'm planning on going on the 26th.Just wondering if any other members were gonna be there.I hope all this rain clears out before then.
  2. I have read most of the threads on swapping antennaes on 2nd generations. I was wondering if anyone has taken their CB to a trucker CB shop to see if they could be boosted like a regular CB for output, clarity and range? I know the range isn't that far and was wondering if it could be increased.
  3. I have the yamaha rack.I bought mine from http://www.motorsportssupercenter.com .I think I gave about $112 a year ago. I like it very much, and I think it looks better. I keep it waxed regularly and have no rust or pitting problems. 1 word of caution, if you get the GoldWing rack and do not like it,you can't change it out because it is made different and the holes will not line up. One of my friends has a GoldWing rack and it has rust and pitting and he is forced to buy the same one for this reason. I too like the straps under the Yamaha rack for weight distribution.
  4. I wonder if you could use that to either replace or go over the top of the rubber tank bib on the gas tank.I think that would look good.I may have to try it.
  5. Cougar, your guages look outstanding! How did you antique the guage face and paint the needles to match,if you don't mind me asking.I'm with Freebird,I haven't been able to find guages that match the dash.Yours are the closest I've seen.I would like to be able to do that to a set of guages for my bike.If you could give details that would be great.
  6. I have a 2007 Blue/Black RSV.When I bought it , the chirp wasn't too bad. After about 4,000 miles it would be screaming between 55 to 60 mph.I usually wear a half helmet because it is so hot in Fla.It was so bad I couldn't hardly hear my radio.I called my dealer and had them order the "I" basket. I now have about 9,000 miles on it , and the noise has been reduced by,I would say, 80%.I run Mobil 1 20W50 synthetic oil. It made it seem like a whole new bike. I do have a little gear whine, but I kinda like it. I also changed out the rear differential oil to a synthetic. I still need to pull the drive shaft and lube with moly 60,but I can live with it the way it is. I can't speak for every one,but the basket change was a life saver for me.
  7. I've posted this before, but if you are having wind noise in your headset,a cheap fix is to find a small balloon or finger cot that fits tight over the mic and put the wind sock back on over the over the top.It will eliminate most or all of the wind noise in your headsets.
  8. You can take the wind sock off and put a small balloon or a finger cot that fits real tight over the microphone, and then put the wind sock back on over the top and it will eliminate all the wind noise. It worked great for me with my IMC headset.
  9. They are made by Signal Dynamics, but they don't list them on their web site.Go to www.customdynamics.com and follow my previous instructions.
  10. The one you are looking at has the amber lense. The ones I have are clear and light up amber. When you go to their home page and click on cycle products.Scroll down until you see the light bars. When you click on that,it's riight under the number you listed.
  11. They are the 3 inch, clear lense, chrome base, that light up amber in color. They are about $45.They also have the red lense, amber lense, and can get black base if so desired.I wanted them to blend in with my antennaes and not be too visible until they light up.
  12. I know I've seen a post before where some one changed their reflectors by the front wheel and the rear crash bar to LED's.The front would be no problem, but I have the saddle bag rails and cannot figure out how to hide the wires with out them being seen. Does any one that has done this give me detailed instructions? Pictures would be even better,if that is possible.
  13. Yes,they are visible from the sides. They come with 2 wires, one for low intensity and one for high and 1 ground.I just wanted them for turn signals, since I have a LED board in the tail light,Signal Dynamics light bar and the Yamaha spoiler that came with dual intensiy light.I just twisted both the hot wires together and wired for turn signals only.
  14. No noise at all, just better to be seen when making a turn.
  15. I added these a whlie back and thought some one else might be interested.I added the Signal Dynamics light bar under the trunk and the Yamaha spoiler with brake light, and decided I wanted some turn signals up high to match.I ordered a set of 3 inch light bars from Custom Dynamics in clear with a chrome base. They light up amber. You can also order them with a red or amber lense and also with a black base.I think they were about $45.I wanted them to blend in with the antennae when I got them mounted.I bought a 1 inch wide piece of aluminum to cut the mounting brackets out of.I then Wrapped the wires in electical tape and ran them down and under the trunk with the coax from the antennae, and then to the wires behind the tag.Attached to the coax with small zip ties. I really like them and they blend in with the antennae. You don't even notice them until they light up.I also polished the aluminum mounting brackets so they shine pretty good.
  16. It's a Yamaha medium model. When I bought the bike,I ordered the windshield at the same time.I am very hot natured,so I knew I wasn't going to be able to stand the stock windshield. It gets hot in Fla.My best friend has a GoldWing,So we looked at his windshield and the one on the Venture and determined the curve was the same.I then ordered a GoldWing vent and we cut a hole with a dremel and installed it.At the time I didn't know about this site, and I didn't know that Clearview Shields made one like that.I thought I was the first to do it.Anyway,I'm happy with it.
  17. no,they are not convexed, but they show a lot more of what's behind you.You could add the small spot mirrorsto to help with blind spots, but i think they show enough to be safe.I guess it would be up to personal preference.
  18. I borrowed a camera and I think I figured out how to do pictures, just haven't learned to do it smoothly.Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Hope this helps,Freezy Rider.

  20. I wish I could, but I don't have a digital camera and haven't learned to post pictures yet. I think they look as good or better than the originals, but even if they didn't,the increase in safety is an acceptable trade off.
  21. That was one of the first things I changed.I bought some off of E-Bay from Harber's Cycle Parts out of Viola,Ar.Just go to E-Bay motors and type in Royal Star Venture mirrors and it should pull them up.I like mine. They do move pretty easy if you bump them, but I've never had them move any other time.I think they were $29.95 with $10 shipping. Also, shipped very fast.I'm very satisfied, much better than stock.
  22. I used to have a Suzuki Intruder 800,which I think would make a great women's bike. Low seat height, water cooled, shaft drive,V-twin,plenty of power, low center of gravity, and easy to ride.It will keep up with most other bikes that you ride with. They are basically maintenance free, just add gas and change the oil.
