  1. Enjoying read all these post of folks I know and those I haven't met. Been 5 years now without last 09 RSV Hannigan trike. Miss that ride at times but am enjoying the open air in my Slingshot. I still read most all daily postings just to keep tabs on some of those pot stirrers. They know who they are!!!!! Oh IF by chance my name happens to get drawn just pass on to the next guy. Got 2 Venture caps I wear & trying to wear out. Larry
  2. An accident waiting to happen. Is it worth risking life & limb or your bike?
  3. I've been watching this post since day 1 along with adding my prayers for Bob & family. As with everyone else it saddens me & Joyce greatly to know Bob is going thru this trying time. I'll cherish the many times I've shared good times and the road with Bob & Becky. Hopefully we'll see Bob recover but if that's not to be God's Plan then we'll meet again in the Lords house. Larry
  4. Prayers up Bob & Becky. Hopefully this is just a temporary physical set back you're facing now. Get well friend as we have lots of meets to get together yet. Thanks for keeping us fellow VR'ers informed Big Tom. Will be looking forward to more news of Bob's continued improvement. Larry
  5. Welcome back Ed. WOW nice bikes you have there. Glad you're enjoying life again too. We enjoyed our time with you at The Root Beer Run last month too. Larry
  6. Very nice ride you got there now. With the longer & wider stance of this trike the road will be smooth sailing. Enjoy riding safely while learning to handle 3 wheels.
  7. Nice video Joe. It's good to see your still riding. Thanks for sharing this location. Maybe someday a trip there could happen for us. Larry
  8. Thanks for the heads up on this topic Don. Red Ryder / James having had both versions of these 2 trikes Hannigan is the Cadillac of the two in ride comfort. Prices between the too being relativity close even with twice the mileage on the 03 Midnight over the 07 blue Tri-Wing model I'd pick the 03 every time. The independent suspension will give you & your passenger a much smoother, comfortable ride. A couple other pluses for giving the 03 the nod is gearing, Tri-Wings 2.42 axle ratio to 3.73 for Hannigan. I found the 3.73 gearing better in hilly riding as I didn't need downshifting as much. Very little difference in fuel economy either. I replaced the Tri-Wing due to being hit broadside by a car in 2k12. Insurance paid me well enough for me too buy another bike, "09", then had Hannigan convert it for me. While I no longer own that 09 I'd buy another Hannigan triked bike in a heart beat if in the market. Current ride is a Polaris Slingshot because of lingering back / shoulder issues from that accident. Larry
  9. Prayers up for your brother, family, friends, & you as he waits his turn joining the Father in Heaven. Remember your best times you shared with him.
  10. Most trike conversions will give you lower gearing in the differential. The Tri-Wing kit I had on my "05" used a 2:42 gear ratio while my "09" Hannigan used a 3:73 gearing. I much more preferred the 3:73 gearing Hannigan used as it preformed much better in hills & trailer towing. The 3:73 Gearing will raise engine rpm's approximately 500rpm's at 70mph.
  11. RD is correct in that I haven't made any arm rests in quite some time nor plan on building any in the future. Sorry guys. However I will provide insight or other help if requested for those wishing to build their own. Larry
  12. Prayers up Bob. Wishing you the best of outcomes in dealing with your medical issues.
  13. Good news indeed Pucster. Will continue to keep everyone in thoughts and prayers while your brother continues confronting this medical issues. Hopefully he'll continue to improve his quality of life.
  14. I can attest to Bens insight here of our club. Having been a member here since "05" I've met a great number of other members who I can call friends thou I may only see them a few times a year. Even thou I don't have a Venture , like others have done, anymore since going to a Slingshot I'm still welcomed wherever I go to any VR meets. Age & health have required me to make changes in my mode of transportation but I still love reading here all of what's going on with our membership. Even our new gen 3 riders and their new rides. Nope this guy ain't going anywhere. Larry
  15. Regardless if he buys it or not (bet he does thou) we all know he'll be getting a super clean bike.
  16. I went to Jays homestead this morning to help diagnose this electrical glitch. As suspected there was an open ground at the bulb socket. Running a jumper wire direct to the socket base and to the frame allowed the bulb to function as normal. Switching the jumper lead to the input end of the wire resulted in a no go. So that told us the wire itself or socket was bad. After removing the lead in wire & socket we confirmed the wire itself was good . Pulling back the rubber boot on the socket showed corrosion. A quick cleaning, a bit of silicone to keep moisture out and we're good as new. Apparently there was just enough corrosion built up to prevent contact between the washer/spring/base. It was a pain getting that portion of the wiring out & put back in, thou Jay managed quite well as I supervised. LOL Larry
  17. Puc Happy to hear you & Tippy are OK . Sorry Tweeksis got hurt but it's fixable. On the frame I'm 100% sure the frame had been welded by the previous owner and you should see it in the record book you got with the bike.
  18. The red trike was (no longer in production) made by Motor Trike and called a Stallion. It used a Ford in line 4 cylinder Ranger engine coupled with an auto trans. Heat and ac were available options as well. Costs were 30k+ depending on year & options. I took one for a test drive once and considered buying one but Polaris brought out the Slingshot so went that route instead.
  19. Home about 6pm with a couple stops along the way. Rain pretty much all the way too. Regardless we had a great time with everyone cause till today weather was perfect. Don. Carl. & Marca put on a great rally as always. Already looking forward to their next rally.
  20. And at least one Michigan member, Me. Does this make it more like an International Rally since we don't have an official one this year. We're going to arrive a day early on Wednesday to do a bit of site seeing. Larry
  21. I started shooting bows shortly after joining a local club in 1971. Having shot compounds for the most part with several Darton models then progressed to Clearwater bows and then High Country bows. I haven't shot anything since fall of "12" when I was broadsided on the trike. Broken ribs and collar bone took me out of the game. Lost interest in hunting about that time too. Prior to this we, Joyce & I, shot a lot of 3-D archery placing in the top 10% most times. Besides local clubs shoots, state IBO, & IBO Championship we really enjoyed traveling and competing with our bows. Joyce won 1st place 6 years in a row, 94-99, Michigan bow hunters broadhead championships. Best I could do was several 3-4th and I think one 2nd place. Great memories looking back at those years. Now with Parkinson's disease I can't hold steady enough to get good shots off. Larry
  22. Knew that feeling before as well. Happy for you Biker John
  23. Are you sure that's a 99 and not a 09 bike? Either way you got a great deal, especially so if its indeed a 09 year model. Congrads, Larry
  24. I looked into that once but lifting 1st gens is different than 2nd gens. On 1st gens the exhaust pipes are below the frame. The pipes themselves are plenty strong enough to support the bike. Thus I didn't see any need there, unlike the 2nd gens.
