  1. "Head Gasket"....I like that, TJ! Seriously, Scott. Here wishing you get through this without any problems and your healing is fast and easy! Remember, this too shall pass. ...and you'll be back on the road soon enough! God Bless and PRAYERS UP! david
  2. Appreciate the write up! Glad you found the problems. Nice to see someone go through their scoot in a logical sequence, then report back the results. Thankfully, most people here do that as well... Sorry to see you go. david
  3. I'm using Yamalube 20-50 and have a tiny leak periodically near kickstand. No clue yet where it's coming from.
  4. Whoa....glad your testing went well! Good to hear about the armour. Never heard of D30. Guess it's time for me to re-think my wearing gear and update to the new stuff. Thanks for the report and glad you are OK!
  5. Yikes! Glad you are OK! Take care of you for now...another RSV is waiting for you! david
  6. George, wishing you luck and a great ride! Be safe! (P.S. the 650 would do it, too! I loved mine)
  7. Here's a surefire way to "Stop the Blues!" I know we frown on trailers here, but ya know....putting your scoot on a trailer and coming south for a week or so is always an option for those who love snowblowers. U Haul rents... Just saying...
  8. I agree. Rick re-did my 950 VStar stock seat and I like it better than the Mustang I spent way to much money on. As soon as I get my sheckles saved, will send my 89 seat to Rick for his magic!
  9. I agree, Jeff. Sure would like a vented replacement for my 1st gen 89....hint, Don! For now I'm looking at Clearview to see what they will come up with. I have the tall Clearview with re-curve, tint and vent on the 950T and it is very nice.
  10. Guitar high "E" string is good for cleaning out passages and stuff. Very thin but strong enough to push through debris. And it won't make the holes larger... This probably won't help you at this point...but if you can use it...they are less than $2.
  11. Well...Happy Birthday to you all on this wonderful Veterans Day!!
  12. No one has mentioned plug wires and plugs. Pulled my plugs and wires today and replaced with new. The wires must have been original as they still had factory stickers showing what cyclinder number on both ends. Not many miles, 38K...but 1989 means 25 years. So I bet that will help my mpg! Saved two plugs for spares...threw front two away as they were corroded on outside. All old plugs were gapped differently from .031 to .035. All had 145ohms resistance as well.... Easy to do with info on site....only #1 wire gave me fits on threading through the loom.\ Suggest you check plugs. david
  13. Went for a long run to Phoenix two weeks ago. Next morning...about two tablespoons of coolant on ground. Rode back home and no leak. No leak since. Coolant bottle was right on mark, too. What is going on? Couldn't see any source of leak either. Ah well...another ride coming up from Tucson to Flagstaff then down to Sedona and back. We shall see.
  14. Scott, So sorry to hear! Prayers to your family this time of need! david
  15. I like it! Easier to add pics and such. easier to work with. Thank you for your hard work! P.S. I like the green borders...cool! I can change and customize all day...nice!
  16. How or where do we click to thank someone for their post? A "Like" button would work as well! david
  17. Being Lactose intolerant, I can't get into ice cream much anymore....sigh. BUT, do love breakfasts. So....this morning..despite the cool wind...decided to take little bike out for a spin. Denny's $8 Grand Slam Slugger was the target for this morning's ride. Turned out to be a nice day. OH...Rick Butler worked over my stock seat and mucho nice difference!! After an hour, I was still sitting nicely...not squirming. So thanks Mr. Butler!!
  18. Hi Brian, I'm relatively new here so not knowledgeable enough to address all your issues. BUT, can tell you there is a ton of answers covering each issue you have....just need to search the forums. Lots of advice, experience and pictures available. One cylinder: pull plug and check for spark, check carb diaghram for leaks, check wires....if the computer is the issue, take it apart and check for broken caps,etc.. Check coil wires. Cracked fairing is easy to repair. ABS plastic can be "welded" with a simple soldering iron and patience. You can order ABS plastic sheets or sticks on-line. The 1st generation bikes are fairly easy to work on...once you get the hang of how they come apart. The engines are pretty much bullet proof as well....! I'm sure others will chime in...and welcome to the neighborhood!
  19. For the past few years, I've been finding an amazing number of bolts, washers and nuts at ACE. Stainless, metric and so on. I no longer head to the dealer first....ACE down the street has been good to me!! Two scoots and a sailboat. Yep!
