  1. I appreciate it. I'll look more closely at doing this when I have to replace my tire fairly soon. I have to say I'm not looking forward to it.
  2. Maybe make it difficult to pull pipes buy my experience was different. I had FMF Q2 muffler on my DR650 but instead of repacking I decided to go with a Gixxer can. The FMF install had me using the Ultra Copper to seal between headpipe and muffler pipe. I don't recall any particularly gnarly procedures to separate those when I put on the Gixxer can and I think I used Ultra Copper again to mount it. Could be my memory is faulty and YMMV but I would rather have it work well and not leak even if it was slightly more difficult to remove. And yes, the Q2 is for sale if anyone wants one. I also have a complete 2002 GSXR1000 exhaust set, minus can, if anyone has been looking........
  3. Yup. I do the same thing. I'll even ride through the to go line at a fast food store and throw the sack I get into a saddlebag and away I go. That's on the Vulcan 2000 with the Corbin Beetle Bags. It's tougher to do on the Gen 1.2.
  4. Shinko 777 on the front. On a slot machine triple 7 would be pretty good. How can it be bad on a tire? Good luck!
  5. Looks good! Hows about you post us up some measurements and angles, etc? Or are you going to start selling them?
  6. Even if it fit really nice I would still get some Permatex Ultra Copper Maximum Heat Gasket RTV and use it as installation lube.
  7. My take on it is that side loaders waste space because you have to ensure somehow that everything doesn't just fall out when you open it. This means space taken up by organizers, etc. or just not filling it up fully. If you don't mind digging for what you want a top loader is best. You can always buy one of your list of great touring bikes and then remove the bags and sell them. This should give you enough cash to buy good aftermarket top loaders or some of those super low priced Chinese ones. Maybe some aluminum panniers are what you really want. http://www.touratech-usa.com/Store/1767/Pannier-Systems http://www.twistedthrottle.com/shop-by-product/luggage-racks/hard-luggage/sidecases
  8. Hippo Hands don't need no wires or ducts.
  9. I have one. I like it pretty well although I didn't know about the problem Camos mentioned being widespread but I have that as well (needs power toggle). After putting a good power filter on my OEM amplifier it sounds great with the Polk DB-401s. I wanted to use the sound sensitive boost and the volume dial so I kept that stuff and did the install that I documented here: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?88766-PRV175-Install-Keeping-Built-in-Amp-and-Controls I'm using it as a Bluetooth interface and radio. My music files play from my phone. True that it doesn't remember the last file played from an attached thumb drive, no biggie to me. It doesn't access the thumb drive files in shuffle mode either. I didn't buy it thinking I would be shucking thumb drives into it. The 40 watts is probably peak, what do you expect from a unit basically the size of can of beer cut in half? It fits in a standard size gauge cutout. When you're two feet from the speakers it doesn't take a lot of power. If you're interested in playing your music for the people around you when you're riding then I'm sorry for trying to help you because I despise being forced to listen to other people's crap when they're riding around in my neighborhood or on the same street I'm on. I've washed my bike with it mounted and never had any trouble with that. It had a BT reconnection problem but that was fixed with a software update. Here's that info: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?108287-PRV175-Fixed-With-a-Software-Update! Oh, you know I just realized that you're asking about a PRV15 not PRV175. Well now you know more than you wanted probably about a BT player you weren't even looking for!
  10. Yes, but with you being in Canada we'll probably have to wait until spring to find out the answer? Good sleuthing anyways.........
  11. Nice write-up of the caliper choices. My '93 is blue so the blue dots were a no-brainer. I'm happy to see that I probably made a good technical choice as well as far as durability goes. So if one wanted blue dots but also wanted aluminum pistons are they swappable?
  12. Look it up in the NadaGuides. A 2007 Grand Cherokee is worth $13,400 retail in lowest trim and options to $30,870 in SRT-8 4WD with all the options including $1225 for the snow plow. Don't overpay, it's worth what it's worth.
  13. One thing I would try is to raise angle of the shifter clamp a little so that it doesn't latch in the down position. You've got a latching cam setup there where the lever can go forward enough that it catches. If the pedal is too high when you move the clamper then shorten up the linkage. There could be other problems because I don't think the shifter should have that much travel but I think my suggestion would help some.
  14. I did break my kickstand bolt and crack off the backside. Here is what my kickstand looks like now:
  15. It seems a little awkward to me to try to throw a leg over the seat to mount my steed and even more so to consider a similar dismount. Typically I put my left foot on the footpeg and swing the right one over from there. This took a toll on my kickstand earlier and then on my left footpeg. I started to notice that it was bent downward and back. A washer or three between the footpeg bracket and it's rearward mounting bolt will help some of this but not enough. The frontward mount was being bent outward and that was causing a lot of the deviation. I removed everything down to the frame in that location and used a mallet to bend things back into place. The mounting bracket is weak though and so I decided it needed bolstering. The photos should be pretty much self descriptive so I'll end my intro here.
  16. This is confusing to me without looking at the diagrams. I would think that the newer model would have four wires because the front brake switch triggers the electric anti-dive solenoids. Unless that is sensed in the CMU/Monitor circuitry it would seem that an additional circuit would be needed for the additional functionality.
  17. Pretty nice stuff! I especially like the aspens amidst the pines. Is that a special seat on your 88? What is it?
  18. Did you mean SWEETY? I'd be worried too if I had been calling the wife my sweaty!
  19. I think autozone was the most generous to me here in omahaha. My battery is losing water as well. I think I will go with LiPo or LiFePoDoDeDo. It's hard to keep up with different lithium chemistry anymore, but they all save space and are rarin' to go when you want to. If I get a much smaller battery and remove the coils (COPs), I will have room for a big sub/amp mounted in the fake tank cover.
  20. Probably around $600 in Canada. Mine cost me $345 plus postage.
  21. Yeah, it sucks Puc. I went around and around with the DMV here and that was what I was finally told about the MSO. I asked about a builder title and they told me I could try something like that but I would have to burn the titles of TWO street legal bikes to come out with a single street title and even then I would have to cut the neck off of one of the street legal ones and weld it onto the frame of my builder so that it would match a street legal serial number. Some question as well whether they would let me have the engine from an MX in my builder anyway so no thanx. Lot's of states are way more tolerant that way than the big red 'N' but thems the rules here. In a perfect world my CR250R would be streetable but instead it don't get too much use. It's hard to believe they allow a boat trailer behind a camper that's only attached to a bumper hitch. Please tell me it's at least a class 3?
  22. Those two stroke 500s are reputed to be hard to handle, as in lot's of people scared themselves pretty bad flipping the throttle open too quick. I've seen testimonials from seasoned motoXers who said it was just too much power to control and counter-productive in racing. Because of that rep and their scarcity they are commanding a pretty good price too. My state won't allow installing dual-sport kits to title MX bikes for street riding. It doesn't matter if the bike has been titled in another state, if the Material Statement of Origin (MSO - title prerequisite) said "For Off-Road Use Only" then there is no way to get a Nebraska title for it. The only work-around here would be models that had a MX version and a legal version that you could then do parts substitution on. If you're going to want to ride it on the street then check on that factor for your state. Maybe two stroke, street legal, older KTM EXC 300? IMHO it might be difficult to get a good bike with a limit of $2000 but good luck to you.
  23. Are you starting with a round socket on like a MarkLand or do you need to now how to wire in your brake/turn/tail lights? If you just need an adapter it's probably on this page: http://www.autozone.com/trailer-hitch-hitch-balls-and-towing-accessories/trailer-wiring-adapter
