  1. If I was to rebuild my carbs, is there anything I should be on the lookout for? A while back I was having troubles with it not running on all four. The issue came on all of the sudden. I ran some Seafoam through it, and after a while it came back. Everything appeared to be fine for quite some time. But then I noticed my mileage dropping. I was getting 38-40 mpg, but now I'm getting down to 32-35 mpg. I tried Seafoam again and it makes no difference. I've also changed the fuel filter, spark pllugs, plug wires, plug caps, synched the carbs, checked the diaphrams for holes and nothing has seemed to make a diff. I was having trouble with a bad stator about the same time and thought maybe a week charge (or lack of), may cause a week spark that might lead to a lack of a good fuel burn and have someting to do with poor mileage. I replaced the stator this fall. I didn't run more than two tanks or so through it since then. But it still seems to be getting the same crappy mileage as earlier. Anybody have any other ideas? Time for a rebuild? Won't be riding for a few more months up here in WI. so I have plenty of time to do it. Thanks, Bill

    Seafoam?

Please don't think I'm stupid, but I read everyone using something called Seafoam. Now from the threads, I can see it has something to do with the fuel. Would someone please tell me what it does and where it can be pruchased! It seems everyone uses it. Thanks
  3. WOW I just came back from Napa here in Windsor and I bought a can of Seafoam. It cost me $11.90 plus taxes (cdn) I complained about the price to the counter clerk and he said that everyone says the same. I told him I could get it in Detroit for $6.99 to $7.99 a can. I'll stock up there next time. Then I was following someone's post about using Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak to stop a front fork leak and that was $13.21 plus taxes for a small bottle. I sure hope it stops my small leak. What a ripoff it is in Canada. DonB
  4. The 89 was running a little sluggish last week on that Asheville run.Riding on top the smokies at 6000 ft I really noticed some problems. I just don't have time to run these scoots like they need it. I added a full can 16 ounces to a tank of fuel today and rode for about 75 miles. I add a can full strength twice a year. The next can will be this winter when I put it away with a full tank of fuel for 4 months. I have another can waiting on the 84 when I take it out. I wish they made Seafoam for humans. I could have used a drink for my leg aches friday night. The price is still $5.66 a can at Walmart and $5.98 a can at our local auto parts store. Sometimes they run it on sale for $5.00 a can. Good Stuff can't say enough about it. I keep some in the gasoline generator tank, weed eater mix, tractor, etc.

    SeaFoam?

Picking up bike tommorow its been setting for over 2 years. I have been in the automotive business for 20 years so know my way around cars but I have never heard of SeaFoam. Where do I buy it and how do I use it? thanks
  6. Hey guys, what do you use in lieu of a yamaha fuel filter, mine is plugged after a tank with seafoam!!!! Any part #s come to mind
  7. I dont know if this has ever been posted before but its a Seafoam vid on all the uses of their products. I didnt know that you could use it for all that stuff, kinda interesting. [ame=http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6187290865726229173]Sea Foam Usage Video[/ame]
  8. Got the tank unclogged, 81 honda cm400. was sitting since '84, all clogged up with tarnish + rust. unclogged petcock + tank with lauquer thinner soaking, got seaform now. My ??? is how do I use it to clean tank some more. I got 2 pint cans, should I mix it with anything or just put gas and seafoam in. I plan to reline the tank, any help is greatly needed.
  9. I just changed the oil on my '84 this past weekend. It went well but I am now reading posts about "overfilling." I thought I was being smart by filling it to its upper limit. Sounds like I was wrong. Do all these bikes have the overfilling issue ? Looks like I will have to take the air breather apart to see if I have oil in there. I am assuming that that is the cover just inside the fuse box cover ? Also, I see a lot of folks recommending seafoam. What is that ? A search on Google suggests there are many seafoam products available. Any recommendations ? As usual, thanks.
  10. Here's a question for thought. What's the diffrence between Seafoam and Lucas fuel treatment?I use Lucas in everything I own.Just read about Seafoam and was curious.
  11. I have been using seafoam in my Venture, cars and boat for years, but besides the gas tank, I usually suck a couple oz's into the brake booster vac line and let it sit for 10 min. This gets the valves wet with full strengh seafoam and desoves the carbon build up. Is there any vaccuum line on my venture that will feed all cylinders? Or maybe a differant way of doing this? Thanks

    Seafoam

Well, I was just wondering through the local Wally World and was amazed to see on the shelf...SEAFOAM! I am pleased that they are carrying this wonder stuff! I have never seen it there before, so this might be a new addition. Thought I would share my find! So for those of you that have ask where to find it...check Walmart.
  13. Well today while calling on one of my customer s, a used car lot on HONDO Texas . a fella was talking to the mgr of the store. I could see he was talking about SEA FOAM. Being the bashfull sort of guy I am .... I but right in and confirm what a great product it is. I mentioned that on the web site SEAFOAM get much praise. He then gave me a sample of their new product BUG OFF. and we started talking about motorcycles,,,, lo and behold he is the owner of a 83 V.R. . Naturally we talked bikes for the next 15 min,and he was kind enough to provide more samples . He is Kevin H.and I told him all about this site . I hope he joins us here, his home is in Sioux Falls SD. Yea he travels all around promoting SEAFOAM. BIll P:beer:
  14. My girlfriend dropped a whole can of Seafoam into her 750 Ace (3.7 gallon tank) which probably only had 1 gallon of gas in it (just guestimating as she knows it was not full and could still see some gas). Anyway, she started it up, it ran for a while, then stopped. She couldn't get it started again. Am going to go over tomorrow and maybe drain her tank into a gas can then fill up the tank and start over again.... Question is, if there is so little gas that is diluting the whole can of Seafoam, could she have done any damage? Do I just need to fill up the tank, shake it up a bit and try to crank it up again? Thanks, Jeff
  15. Hey guys did you know you can use Seafoam in boats too!!! I just thought it was funny when I was on the forum (ClassicMako.com) I have been cheating on you on when they started a seafoam thread. Feel like I havent been away!!! LOL Long Live SEAFOAM!!!
  16. Just got some Seafoam finally to dump in my '89 VR tank. Reading the label says it helps in the oil too. Just wanted to check & see if it really does & if I should drain the oil after having it in awhile. Sounds like this stuff is the clear deal!
  17. I tried SeaFoam in my ’99 RSV this week. After seeing the rave revues of the product here in the forum I said “Why not?” Within 15 miles I felt a noticeable increase in power. My records indicate that I had been averaging just over 37 mpg. On the first tank with SeaFoam I got 40 mpg and on the next tank without SeaFoam I got just over 40 mpg. I talked with my friend Scott Bartley of Knuckleheads Motorcycle Center, an independent sales, repair and self-service shop, here in Chambersburg, PA. He deals mainly in used motorcycles and aftermarket parts. He tells me that one of the first steps in preparing a used cycle for sale it adding SeaFoam to the fuel, especially one that has been setting for a while. What a great product, thanks to all the forum members for relating their stories about it. When I talked to Scott yesterday he recommended another product that the forum members should be aware of. Has anyone tried Bike Brite? Just spray it on and hose it off with a strong stream. I was amazed by how it made the chrome, paint and vinyl shine. The windscreen needed a quick wipe with a soft towel to remove the last of a weeks worth of bugs and I just towel dried the rest. I am as impressed with it as I am Sea Form. You can contact Scott for more info about Bike Brite at “bikeknuckleheads@aim.com”
