  3. *This is priceless - would love to do this.* One year at Thanksgiving, my mom went to my sister's house for the traditional feast. Knowing how gullible my sister is, my mom decided to play a trick. She told my sister that she needed something from the store. When my sister left, my mom took the turkey out of the oven, removed the stuffing, stuffed a Cornish hen, and inserted it into the turkey, and re-stuffed the turkey. She then placed the bird(s) back in the oven. When it was time for dinner, my sister pulled the turkey out of the oven and proceeded to remove the stuffing. When her serving spoon hit something, she reached in and pulled out the little bird. With a look of total shock on her face, my mother exclaimed, "Patricia, you've cooked a pregnant bird!" At the reality of this horrifying news, my sister started to cry. It took the family two hours to convince her that turkeys lay eggs! Yep..................SHE'S BLONDE! I HOPE EVERYONE HAD A HAPPY THANKSGIVING !!!!

  6. well last night i was in a mad rush to find that last gift. so i ran to the mall about a half hour before closing time. pouring down rain and chilly outside. at closeing time i headed out the door as they where locking down the mall. i started walking to my car which is parked in the handicap spot. when i see this poor teenage girl crying her eyes out. i asked her whats wrong? she told me that shes at least a half hour late getting home and she cant get into her moms car that shes driving? and shes soaked from head to toe. of course being a teenager shes not properly dressed for the weather. she said im going to be in big trouble and be grounded for at least a month this is my second time i will be late getting home this month. my cellphone is locked in the car so i cant call my mom and i dont have a father or no one to come help me. i said well lets see why you cant get in the car? she said i keep hitting the remote button to unlock the car but its not working? i didnt say a thing i gave her my coat told her put it on. then i gave her my cellphone and said call your mom. tell her what happend and a nice man is going to open your doors and you will be home in just a little while. it was the same type of car as mine a pontiac grandprix. and she was standing on the passenger side. i didnt want to make fun of her so while she was talking to her mom i took her keys went over to the drivers side as these type of cars have only one door lock on the drivers side. i placed the key in the lock and opened her door. started her car and said your good to go. she said hey my mom wants to talk to you and thank you. i took my cellphone and my coat and talked to her mom explained what i did and that just because the battery died in the remote dont mean you cant get into the car. so when your daughter gets home show her what i did. she just laughed and laughed and said she sure takes after her mom where both blonde. boy did that make my day
  7. I have thought about doing this before and wish I had done it earlier, but I want to give a tribute to my dad and hope others will do this also of their family members. My dad joined the Navy when he was 16 and not long after, Pearl Harbor was attacked. I remember looking at my grandson two years ago when he was 16 and could not imagine him doing that. Dad served on battleships and cruisers as a Gunner's Mate in the Pacific Theater. He was at Guadal Canal when Japan surrendered. He once told me about standing on the beach there looking out in the bay where a supply ship was in the distance. He said all of a sudden the ship turned cherry red and blew into a million pieces. He said body parts washed up on shore for weeks. I regret not encouraging him to share more of the experiences he had during the war. When I joined the USAF in 1969, my mom was scared to death, but I knew my dad was proud of me. I think it mattered to him that I joined instead of just getting drafted. I remember my dad being so happy when I came home from Southeast Asia in 72. I ran across some letters my grand mother had written to him during that time and even though she tried to be upbeat, it was apparent she was so scared for him. At that time communication took a long time and they could not have imagined something like the internet. My dad in now buried with my mom at the local Veteran's Cemetery. Since my dad had joined instead of getting drafted, he had to serve the whole six years, so he did not get to come home right after the war like the draftees did. I hope others will add to this and share their knowledge of their family in war. RandyA
  8. My son got his ship date. It's off to Afghanistan. Marine Infantry Div. He sure is fired up. Hard for me and mom to feel the same enthusiasm. These guy's are awesome. Please pray for their safe return. Thanks
  9. A little girl had been shopping with her Mom in Target. She must have been 6 years old, this beautiful red haired, freckle faced image of innocence. It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the top of rain gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the earth it has no time to flow down the spout. We all stood there under the awning and just inside the door of the Target. We waited, some patiently, others irritated because nature messed up their hurried day. I am always mesmerized by rainfall.. I got lost in the sound and sight of the heavens washing away the dirt and dust of the world.. Memories of running, splashing so carefree as a child, came pouring in as a welcome reprieve from the worries of my day. The little voice was so sweet as it broke the hypnotic trance we were all caught in, 'Mom let's run through the rain,' she said. 'What?' Mom asked. 'Let's run through the rain!' She repeated. 'No, honey. We'll wait until it slows down a bit,' Mom replied. This young child waited about another minute and repeated: 'Mom, let's run through the rain.' 'We'll get soaked if we do,' Mom said. 'No, we won't, Mom. That's not what you said this morning,' the young girl said as she tugged at her Mom's arm. 'This morning? When did I say we could run through the rain and not get wet?' 'Don't you remember? When you were talking to Daddy about his cancer, you said, 'If God can get us through this, he can get us through anything!' The entire crowd stopped dead silent. I swear you couldn't hear anything but the rain. We all stood silently.. No one came or left in the next few minutes. Mom paused and thought for a moment about what she would say. Now some would laugh it off and scold her for being silly. Some might even ignore what was said. But this was a moment of affirmation in a young child's life. A time when innocent trust can be nurtured so that it will bloom into faith.. 'Honey, you are absolutely right. Let's run through the rain. If GOD let's us get wet, well maybe we just needed washing,' Mom said. Then off they ran. We all stood watching, smiling and laughing as they darted past the cars and yes, through the puddles. They held their shopping bags over their heads just in case. They got soaked. But they were followed by a few who screamed and laughed like children all the way to their cars. And yes, I did. I ran. I got wet. I needed washing. Circumstances or people can take away your material possessions, they can take away your money, and they can take away your health. But no one can ever take away your precious memories...So, don't forget to make time and take the opportunities to make memories everyday. To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven. I HOPE YOU STILL TAKE THE TIME TO RUN THROUGH THE RAIN. They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them. Send this to the people you'll never forget and remember to also send it to the person who sent it to you. It's a short message to let them know that you'll never forget them. Take the time to live!!! Keep in touch with your friends, you never know when you'll need each other -- and don't forget to run in the rain!
  10. My mom has been building and painting these step stools for each of her grandchildren over the past several years. My daughter has one with some flowers and a few fancy decorations. My son has one with a Disney Cars theme. I think my nephew has one with a spiderman theme, and my other neice has a pixie fairy theme. My mom also built one for when the grandkids are at her house (harley davidson theme). There is a storage compartment under the top step where my son loves to hide stuff. My kids have been kicking theirs around for three or four years now. they have been pretty durable. Soon I will be tucking them away in the attic for safe keeping. This is the latest one, a Peter Rabbit theme and is certainly the best one yet. Hand built and painted by my mother. (The background is painted, the actual charactors are stickers) The whole thing has a thick clear coat. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Step%20Stools/4a640d12.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Step%20Stools/64a5119f.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Step%20Stools/50dc6d24.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Step%20Stools/50dc6d24.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Step%20Stools/00ac2e44.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Step%20Stools/8db6e5bc.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Step%20Stools/51a97cba.jpg

foxnews said today we will have six more week of winter until spring come me and my mom hate winter
  12. Looks like the East may see another major snow, ice, rain event early next week. Something brewing in the gulf heading this way. This kind of thing brings back child hood memories. Wonder why I don't enjoy it as much. MamaMo's mom is flooded out and can't get home tonight. She is staying in a motel with Ramona. I guess it's a party tonight me and the dog.Mini you might get a noreaster yet.
  13. "Uncle Don", my mother's brother passed this morning, he was 74. He was the patriarch of my family on my mother's side of the family. He had triple bypass surgery 7 weeks ago and contracted "Mersa" (an infection in his leg where they removed the vein for the bypass). I spent time with him last night, we talked of riding motorcycles, our friendship, my mom and the good times we had together. I wanted to thank him for the many years of friendship, and how thru his wisdom and guidance he made my life better and helped me to be a better man. But before I could utter a word about all that he squeezed my hand and thanked me for "Being there for him". Both of my parents have passed long ago, but I never really missed them as much because there was always "Uncle Don" to tell me what my mom might have said about a given situation or to tell me a story about my mom and dad doing one thing or another. Now, All I have left are the memories, great ones to be sure, But I will miss "that old man" as I called him, and we would both laugh! I am glad he is now pain free and surely he must be riding the big highway in heaven. The picture below is 5 generations of my family on my mother's side taken Thanksgiving Day 2008. I'll miss you "Old Man". Earl and Jean
  14. Just got back from a week long "girls" trip to Arizona with my mom, aunt and 2 cousins. Got to see the Grand Canyon and Sedona for the first time in my life!!! I was speechless! I never knew the desert could be so pretty!! Thought I'd throw in a pix. I'm the one hunkered down. Also, we drove up 89A "Oak Creek Canyon". What a thrill! Hope to bike it someday with the hubby. First day back at work and I'm beat. My mom and aunt are in their early 70's and kept us "kids" running from sun up to sun down for 7 days straight!! Wish I had half their energy!
  15. After 15-1/2 years, sadly I had my German Shepard Max put down this morning......... Poor old guy had just gotten too bad with his hips and health for him to be comfortable any more. It was with a very heavy heart that this was done. But I know it was for the right reasons, still doesn't make it any easier. Had to do the same with his mom about 4 years ago. This time tho, no family with me, alone to "take care of it". Gonna be a rough few days. Also gonna be a little quiet around here for awhile. Thanks for listening, Dan
  16. May I introduce my 13th and likley last Grandchild. Born last Sunday. Mom and Paxton are doing great.
  17. My wife, aka MOM is still battling some kindey isues. She went to the hospital today fro some bloodwork and some ditzy nurse told her that she couldnt draw blood because the tattoo MOM has would cause an infection. Then they proceded to treat her like a lepper!!!! This turned into a big ordeal with MOM almost getting arrested....Stay tuned for another upcoming rant
  18. Well as many of you know my wife aka MOM had total hip replacement about 2 months ago. She is up and around and thinking she is indestructable LMAO. Shes back to work and riding her little scooter all over town. Shes doing pretty good. AND she quit smoking! Even better! I have made up another site with trip pics, trip stories, mom's random photography, rants, biker products ( I have gotten a ton of stuff from businesses wanting me to write reviews for the Magazine) etc...Its a work in progress. BE WARNED: IF YOU ARE THE OVERLY SENSITVE TYPE YOU SHOULD AVOID THE SITE! http://vikingwarhorse.webs.com/ Its just me being me.
  19. WHY GOD MADE MOMS Answersgiven by 2nd grade school children to the following questions: Why did God make mothers? 1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is. 2. Mostly to clean the house 3. To help us out when we were getting born. How did God make mothers? 1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us. 2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring. 3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts. What ingredients are mothers made of ? 1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean. 2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think. Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom? 1. We're related. 2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me. What kind of little girl was your mom? 1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff. 2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy. 3. They say she used to be nice. What did mom need to know about dad before she married him? 1. His last name. 2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer? 3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores? Why did your mom marry your dad? 1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot. 2. She got too old to do anything else with him. 3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on. Who's the boss at your house? 1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball. 2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed. 3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad. What's the difference between moms & dads? 1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work. 2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them. 3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's. 4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine. What does your mom do in her spare time? 1. Mothers don't do spare time. 2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long. What would it take to make your mom perfect? 1.. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery. 2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue. If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be? 1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that. 2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me. 3 I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head. WHEN YOU STOP LAUGHING -- SEND IT ON TO OTHER MOTHERS, GRADMOTHERS, AUNTS And anyone else who has anything to do with kids or just needs a good laugh
  20. This is blatant plagiarism on my part... **** I Love you ladies! This is for the mothers who have sat up all night with sick toddlers in their arms, wiping up barf laced with Oscar Mayer wieners and cherry Kool-Aid saying, 'It's okay honey, Mommy's here.' Who have sat in rocking chairs for hours on end soothing crying babies who can't be comforted. This is for all the mothers who show up at work with spit-up in their hair and milk stains on their blouses and diapers in their purse. For all the mothers who run carpools and make cookies and sew Halloween costumes. And all the mothers who DON'T. This is for the mothers who gave birth to babies they'll never see. And for the mothers who took those babies and gave them homes. This is for the mothers whose priceless art collections are hanging on their refrigerator doors. And for all the mothers who froze their buns on metal bleachers at football or soccer games instead of watching from the warmth of their cars. And that when their kids asked, 'Did you see me, Mom? they could say, 'Of course, I wouldn't have missed it for the world, 'and mean it. This is for all the mothers who yell at their kids in the grocery store and swat them in despair when they stomp their feet and scream for ice cream before dinner. And for all the mothers who count to ten instead, but realize how child abuse happens. This is for all the mothers who go hungry, so their children can eat. For all the mothers who read 'Goodnight Moon' twice a night for a year. And then read it again. 'Just one more time.' This is for all the mothers who teach their sons to cook and their daughters to sink a jump shot. This is for every mother whose head turns automatically when a little voice calls 'Mom?' in a crowd, even though they know their own offspring are at home...or even away at college...or have their own families. This is for all the mothers who sent their kids to school with stomach aches, assuring them they'd be JUST FINE once they got there, only to get calls from the school nurse an hour later asking them to please pick them up. Right away!! This is for mothers whose children have gone astray, who can't find the words to reach them. For all the mothers who bite their lips until they bleed when their 14 year olds dye their hair green or get a tattoo. For all the mothers of the victims of recent school shootings, and the mothers of those who did the shooting. For the mothers of the survivors, and the mothers who sat in front of their TV's in horror, hugging their child who just came home from school, safely. This is for all the mothers who taught their children to be peaceful, and now pray they come home safely from a war. What makes a good Mother anyway? Is it patience? Compassion? Broad hips? The ability to nurse a baby, cook dinner, and sew a button on a shirt, all at the same time? Or is it her heart? Is it the ache you feel when you watch your son or daughter walking to the school bus alone for the very first time? The jolt that takes you from sleep to dread, from bed to crib at 2 A.M. to put your hand on the back of a sleeping baby? The panic, years later, that comes again at 2 A.M. when you just want to hear their key in the door and know they are safe again in your home? Or the need to flee from wherever you are and hug your child when you hear news of a fire, a car accident, a child dying? The emotions of motherhood are universal ... and so our thoughts are for young mothers stumbling through diaper changes and sleep deprivation... and mature mothers learning to let go. For working mothers and stay-at-home mothers. Single mothers and married mothers. Mothers with money, mothers without. This is for you all. Hang in there. In the end, you can only do the best you can. Tell them every day that you love them. And pray and never stop being a mom... 'Home is what catches you when you fall...and we all fall.'
