this is a FIRST, for me. i am one of those people who NEVER meets a stranger. today, i saw a guy walking around in the local grocery store, wearing a "star riders", tee shirt. it said "CENTRAL NEW JERSEY, STAR GROUP" or something similar. and also said "chapter 118". i asked him , if he rode a yamaha, thinking that would get a conversation started. he answered YES i ride a royal star. i asked if he'd ever been to our web site. again "yes, i've been there a few times". then he just turned and walked away!!!!!! first time i EVER met a biker, who didn't want to talk your ear off, about his bike!!!!! maybe that's just the way people are in that part of new jersey, i don't know. i was stationed in "Lakehurst", in the first part of 1970, but i don't remember being allowed to interact with the locals. just jt

When I bought my 07 RSV in August, I received a one year membership to Star Touring. I have been all over their website and see absolutely nothing there that is worth paying annual dues for. I would rather make a donation here every year. There is no star touring chapter near me. I know I get unbiased opinions here. Not so sure about an "official" site. Does anyone have any good reason (aside from a cool pin) why one would want to pay a fee to be a member of Star Touring?

Never have seen a V Star Trike before this one, I saw at the Newport Motorcycle Rally this weekend. Peggy

I hope I'm not out of line here, but I thought that this story from The Windsor Star would be appreciated. Mike http://www.canada.com/windsorstar/news/story.html?id=fbfd3e0d-8a60-4430-845b-6d0314178e8c Man whose wife died in crash still in ICU Trevor Wilhelm, Windsor Star Published: Monday, November 12, 2007 Nearly a month after the motorcycle crash that killed his wife during a retirement trip, Woodslee's Gary Nantais remains in serious condition in the surgical intensive care unit of an Ohio hospital. The retirement dreams of Leslie Nantais, 54, and her husband Gary, 55, were cut short Oct. 17, when, according to police, a teenager failed to yield at a stop sign and slammed into their motorcycle. The 16-year-old girl who hit them was treated and released from hospital following the accident. Gary, a General Motors employee, and Leslie, a teacher at Essex District high school, had both retired and were living out their dreams riding the open road. The couple, who celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary in September, had stopped in Ohio while on a road trip to Virginia. They were heading east on U.S. Route 62 in Holmes County when a Sunfire ran a stop sign at the intersection of State Road 557 and hit them. The Nantais' sons, Matt and Jeff, have created a website. At memoryofleslie.blogspot.com people can post their thoughts and memories about Leslie. "We felt like we should have a place where everyone can speak about our mom Leslie," the brothers wrote on the website. "She touched many people's lives." The messages come from the Nantais' friends, Leslie's former students and people the couple met only briefly in their travels. "My wife Sam and I met Gary and Leslie only once," wrote Vin Tirelli. "They are truly wonderful people and had a way about them that made everyone who spoke with them walk away with a smile. "To say we are heartbroken about this tragedy would be an understatement." © The Windsor Star 2007

:stirthepot:Ok! any info if Yamaha is going to make a new Venture and will it be a 4 or 2. MrBill

Some one on another forum brought it to my attention that the old owners manual, the one we have here in PDF, and the new manual the PDF on the My Star section of the Yamaha web site have different oil change intervals. The old one says every 8k, the new on says every 4k!!! But if you go to the maintenance interval PDF on the My Star site, it still says 8k.. OK, what is that real answer?

Just looking at that 97 Royal Star on Ebay with a buy it now price of $3,100.00. And this is from a dealer. Guess they are starting to realize what a 2d Gen is really worth. :rotfl::rotfl: Correction. It is a Royal Star Tour Deluxe. Guess that explains the BIN price

Has anyone here turned a first gen Venture into a Royal Star?
Guest posted a topic in General Tech Talk
I was looking to buy a cruiser when I discovered that my old 83 Venture Royale is basicly the same as a V-max or a Royal Star, and so I have decided to strip all the plastic off of it, and turn it into a Royal Star. Is there anything I should be aware of before I start? -
A while back, somebody posted a link here for a site dedicated to Road Star riders who are adding fairings, bags, etc. to their bikes. I'm usually pretty good at searching and finding old posts but have not found this one. Can anybody help?

I received a invite to a meeting in Bakersfield on the 29th of this month. It sounds like someone wants to start a new Star Touring Chapter! After looking at the website, It looks like they are a very formal and tightly controled group with lots of rules and regs. How do some of you that are members of Star Touring feel about their chapters? I once was a member of HOG out of Bakersfield back in the 80's and they were a very informal group of people, just looking for other people to ride with...times have really changed since then. Now, all you see are herds of Harleys on the road together.

ok so i'm looking for some nice shiny chrome for my bike but it being an 84 i'm not sure what things will fit and what wont. for example I was looking through the vendors on the site and found this front fender bumper for the royal star my question on that is how different are the fenders on the royal star and my 84 venture royale? would they fit? http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?Category_ID=59&manufacturer_ID=66&product_ID=24253&model_ID=42 another question is there any website out that still has alot of accessories for the 1gen?

I have the stock seat on my Royal Star and it's a pain after about 100 miles. Is there a newer Royal seat that will fit on my bike or does anyone have one for sale? I tried a ProPad on the way to Rolling Thunder this las weekend and took it off after around 125-150 miles. It was no better then the stock seat. By the way I saw several RSV in the parade was any of you guys there?
