  1. hey dooder, rosebud ,and any one else in the area, are you coming to probass on jan 24. maybe we can make this a record off season meet and eat. hope to see you there. bill
  2. bump, how about we make the meeting at probass at 12 noon instead of 11 am. so everyone has plenty of time to get there. and early arrivals will have time to look around at probass. we will meet in the main lobby by the big fireplace. bill
  3. like lewis said the 1100 and 1300 are night and day different. the 1100 was great for the short run and around town. i think the 1300 may be a little longer than a harley. lots of leg room very comfortable. i would'nt hesitate to tour the usa on it solo. i love mine. i have added alot of bells and whistles to mine to make it a little more plush like the corbin touring seat,it was waste of money, sirius radio, rstd handle bars, passenger floorboards, and a little chrome here and there. i have a new wing and the 1300. usually when i have two bikes the one i like most gets riddeen and the other one sits. i ride both of them an equal amount cuz i love them both.
  4. hope to see you there. wait till you get a load of this bunch.
  5. i have a 1300 tourer. i really like it but my wife says it is uncomforatble, even with the corbin seat. i have ridden 600 miles with the stock seat no problem. the only reason i bought it cuz my legs are bad and i needed a lower bike. you will be giving up alot of luxury. the 1300 will out handle the venture and may out run it. it is also vibration free for a twin. i like it when i want to ride a basic motorcycle. when i want to travel i take the wing. to be honest i loved my venturized rstd, but after i rode my 1300 awhile and got back on the rstd it felt like i was driving a semi, until i got the feel again. i would be real sure before you make the move. bill:2133:
  6. we need some more takers. heres the itinerary. we will meet at probass at 12 noon on jan. 24 th, 2009 in springfield mo. and go to lamberts for lunch. no you don't need to ride the bike. hope to see a bunch of you there. bill and linda
  7. richard, i'm looking forward to vogel. see yo there. bill
  8. that is cool.
  9. i've cut off about 5 of them. even did an aftermarket one. you can do it on the bike. when you get done it will look like a factory job. don't have time to post the process right now, dinner is getting ready but i will tonight or tomorrow. it is a piece of cake. if i forget, and you still want to know, pm me. i've got a really neat way of figuring out the exact amount to cut off. this is the area that is very easy to screw up. bill
  10. cindy glad you all had a great christmas and a good trip. hope you get your van fixed. i just know this is going to be a much better year for you. just want to wish you, dale, and halie a happy new year. bill and linda :clap2:
  11. hey maineac, i'm still here, and loaded for bear.getting better control in my old age. heres the old snarley and the new wingaling snarley. have a happy new year. your good buddy, snarley bill.
  12. well looks like we made it through another year. we had some downs, lost some members, some of the members hit some hard times, others had some very unfortionate events take place, but we have weathered the storm. why? because we are a group of great caring people. you will probably never ever find another group as close knit as the venture riders are. when don put this together he did something exactly right. i doubt if he thought it would turn out to be what it is. thanks don. i just hate to hear people say they are leaving the group because they bought a harley or some other off the wall bike like my lowly gold wing. it just does'nt matter.thats not what this group is about. we are friends and will always be here for each other. we have a great year of many of events coming up and i wish i could make all of them. someday i am dreaming of being like la pryor, a real free spirit. linda, and i hope to see you all down the road next year. happy new year to all of you. your good buddy bill
  13. we understand that. i may have to quit my job to get the time off. lol. just kidding . i know the boss. at least i hope i do. bill
  14. bump. :clap2:
  15. tom , thanks for the thumbs up. you are right, these meets are addictive. just ask me. bill
  16. thanks for the offer, i was going to get a carbide bit from work, but won't need to drill the holes with my new design. bill
  17. hey group, just a reminder. we need folks to start registering for the international 2009 rally. we need to get some kind of count to figure t shirts, patches, the last meal, and name buttons. after the holidays the committeee is going to get rolling again. cindy will be coming home from christmas with her family, and i need to keep her busy. lol. so if your sure your going to attend, we would appreciate you registering as soon as possible. at least click on the hub at the top of the venture rider home page, and see what it's all about. thanks, bill
  18. was trying to get a harbor freight tire changer. well they are on back order. i bought the bottom part and i am making the motorcycle part. i did a little innovating along the way. so far it really is going good, and i'm only in for $2.75. i did have some donations of materials from one of my good friends who owns a machine shop. all he had was stainless steel tubing so stainless it is. any way i could'nt drill the stainless for the pins (burned up a new titaniam drill bit), so i redesigned it. it is going to have an infinate wheel dia. setting now. i will have pic's when it is complete. bill
  19. great job don and ozark. i haven't got a clue about the health factor of teddy bears. i'm sure lewis will get the straight skinny from st. jude. bill
  20. i am thinking about buying a monitor. here's the idea i had. i was going to buy one for a car. the one i looked at was a able to handle 6 sending units that screw on to the valve stem. since i have three daily riders i would put the reciever on my wing. since i park the three bikes side by side i could check all three bikes tire pressure from my wing. bill
  21. the best gift i got this year was being able to spend another christmas with my wife. we are going for the big fifty years. i hope we make it. i think the neurologist has got her fixed. she does'nt have to go back for her angiogram for another year and a half.:clap2:
  22. thanks for the input. you and patricia have a merry Christmas. hope you can make it to my st. charles rally in may. bill
  23. hey lutz, have a great christmas, and drink a few of them warm beers for me. your good buddy bill.
  24. hey eck, guess you just about got that bike ready to tangle with a fedex truck. you ain't never gonna live that one down. here's a tip. those damn whitewall tires are slowing you down. you and the boss have a merry christmas. love ya buddy. bill
  25. ok, gang we have a basic plan and it sounds like a good one. keep up the input while lewis is checking with st. jude. i just get the biggest bang out of you folks. thats why i like all these planned meets. great bunch of people to be with. i just gave my wife a teddy bear for christmas about ten minutes ago. remember every kid should have a teddy bear. bill :clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2: ps. now we are going to sit down with our puppy and have a christmas dinner. original recipe kentucky fried chicken, followed by a nap and then a ride to look at the christmas lights tonight. thats what i call livin. bill hope everyone has a wonderful christmas.
