FORDS don't rust... only Chevvy's It's only been sitting for a couple month's since they bought their new truck and they've started it fairly regularly.

ha!! I'd trade your weather for mine anyday (well at least during this time of year) and we even had nice weather today (sunny, maybe 4 above celcius) and I live in the part of the country that has the nicest climate.

Guys...need some input here if ya'll don't mind. I'm lokking at buying a 1992 Ford F-150 XLT extended cab fully loaded and not a 4x4. 5.8L engine, auto trans with trailer towing pkg. color matching canopy. Extremely good condition (from what I can tell) and has 180000 Kms (just over 100000 miles) It's got the captains chairs, air cond. cruise, tilt, pw & pl ... near new tires, new battery (I helped the guy install that today). I'm gonna test drive it tomorrow. What I need to know is what kind of problems these ford trucks are prone to. What should I be checking for? I've only had 2 ford trucks in my life, the first was a new '76 which I only kept for 6 months and the other was a '78 that I bought in '85 and I only kept that for 2 months...(traded it in on a new Mazda). This Ford I'm looking at is on the second owner...he's had it for almost 3 years. The first owner used it mostly to tow a camper trailer to Arizona once a year and back. While there, it basically sat for 3 month's. The current owner also towed a trailer but they bought a bigger trailer so the went out and got a bigger truck. He's asking $4000 OBO here's a pic

You know.... I am thinking about it. I'm not sure I'd do it in a book format tho but probably make a PDF file or something out of it.... I'm also a database programmer so I could compile the info into an application that folks could run on their PC's... hmmmmmm... lemme ponder this. Let's see how the responses go.

The thought just occured to me (after reading another post about oil seal replacement) ... there's an awful lot of technical advice, how to's, etc in this website. Some of it is nicely assembled in the technical forums but there is also a lot buried in various threads, and in bits and pieces in the posts. Wouldn't it be nice if all of that great info was assembled together in one nice book? I'd certainly pay for a book like that. It would be much more useful than the factory manuals and even current 3rd party ones such as Clymer. A lot of "real world" hands-on information is available to us here but not always easily found nor properly documented. Even if someone on this site were to go through all the posts, assemble all the info, do some real good "how to" documenting (with pics) and post it in either the technical forums or as a downloadable PDF. Now I know there is a lot of stuff in the technical forums and it is all very good....what I'm talking about is the info contained within various posts that has not made it into the tech forums. Has this already been done? Am I talking about something that is readily available and I just haven't come across it yet? Here's a small sample of what I mean... One of the members is trying to fix an oil leak, probably at the shifter shaft. The manual doesn't cover this except when the engine is out. It would be nice to have a well documented with pics explanation of "how to" accomplish this (with the engine in the bike). Another member mentioned there is another seal that could leak but in order to find it you have to remove the exhaust collector and run the bike up to operating temp ....and don't forget to remove the fairing lowers. If all of this was documented under a common heading of "Fixing Common Oil Leaks".... it would be so easy. Now, to try and find all posts in here to do with "oil leak", here's what I get... 299 threads, many of them having several posts. I might find exactly what I'm looking for right away or, I might get caught up reading the many posts and totally forget what I was looking for (don't ask me how I know this) LOL Any thoughts on this guys/gals?

Jerry, I hope you can get this resolved...these things can be a real annoyance and sometimes the only resolve it to re-install the operating system from scratch, reformatting the hard drive in the process, and then re-installing the programs you use. Before doing this, backup your important data files to a CD or something. As for those shortcuts, did you try checking the properties of them to see where on your computer they are pointing to? If you right click the shortcut, you can choose properties from the menu. Also, sometimes when you delete a shortcut, a message will appear asking if you want to delete the shortcut only or the actual file it's pointing to. Sure sounds to me like you have this virus mentioned. If nothing else, you'll gain a lot of knowledge about dealing with such things so there is a positive side.

Here are a couple methods for getting rid of entries in Add/Remove Programs that are either invalid or for some reason, cannot normally be removed. This assumes you've somehow removed the actual program. This first method involves editing the registry and is an excerpt from Microsoft's Help site. The second one is a link for a downloadable probram that will work. To remove a program reference viewable in the Add/Remove Programs tool: 1.Start Registry Editor (Regedit.exe). 2.Locate the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall 3.Locate the key to be deleted by locating the key name created by the program. If the name of the key is not apparent, browse through each key and note the value for DisplayName. This is the viewable string in the Add/Remove Programs tool. 4.Using the Registry menu, export the selected registry key to make a backup. Store the .reg file in a safe location in case you need to import it at a later date. 5.Delete the selected registry key and its values. Do not delete the entire Uninstall key. 6.Quit Registry Editor. 7.Verify that the reference in the Add/Remove Programs tool is no longer visible. Second method (should really be the first) http://www.download3000.com/download_16103.html Also, if you get rid of the entry in Add/Remove Programs, and you delete the folder containing the program from your hard drive, run ccleaner and do a registry clean....it will get rid of most, if not all, the "orphaned" entries in the registry associated to that program. CAUTION... back up your registry before messing with it "just in case"!.

It may be the politicians and/or lawmakers that are enforcing it but it's those gol durned "bleeding hearts" and activists who are behind it all. I think it's time we stood up against all of them and protested! (ooops... that makes me one of them...)

I've been coming to this site for close to 2 years. I have tried many times to stir up trouble, put down others, create situations causing others to start bashing each other, raise political and religious controversial issues so I could sit back and watch you all fighting.... came close a couple times.... but DANG!!! you all just won't bite at anything...will ya? OK, to heck with it then, I give up....

Go to Start, then Run ... type in msconfig and press Enter Go to the Startup tab in the dialog that comes up and choose Disable All. Click Apply and then click OK. Restart your computer... you will get a message (I forget what it says)... just OK it. Go to the C: drive in Explorer and find the folder where mIRC is installed. Delete that folder using Shift + Delete (bypasses recycle bin) Get an antivirus program like AVG Free. Install it and do the updates and then have it scan your computer and clean any viruses. Get Spybot Search & Destroy. Install it, do the updates, and scan your PC. Clean anything it finds. Get ccleaner ... install it & do the updates... run the cleaner on the Windows Registry only and clean all that it finds. (above programs are all free off the net) Go back into msconfig and enable all, click OK and reboot your PC.
