  1. I think this is a good clarification of the difference between "driving lights" and "passing lights". Although I still think the name "passing lights" makes no sense at all LOL.
  2. The reason I said that is because there seems to be a lot of confusion and/or interpretation of "passing lamps" and "driving lamps". While you (among others) say there is a distinct difference, others don't know and call driving lamps "passing lamps" and viceversa. I guess you were trying to clarify whether or not I was one of those "confused souls" ... (which I am for many things LOL) but I am definately referring to Driving Lamps ... for purposes of seeing far into the distance at night. Having said that then, and in reference to your positioning of driving lamps and passing lamps (which I agree) ... a dumb question.... why is it that we mount those auxilliary lights on our RSV's and also on the Harley Electra Glide UP adjacent to the normal headlight (seemingly as high as we can get them) and call them passing lamps?? If, in fact, they are passing lamps, then why are they not down lower? If, in fact, they are driving lamps, then why do so many people call them "passing lamps"??? I am still so confused so, I am going to call them driving llights if they come on with the high beam and call them passing lights if they come on with the low beam and if they come on when the operator wants them (with high or low beam), I will call them ...... awrite...what should I call them?
  3. all I have to say to you is .... :rasberry: :rasberry: ain't that the truth!
  4. Brad... I been in your shoes a few times and I know how tough this can be. Remember...for every down, there is an up and although you might have to do without such things as a scoot for a while... it's not forever. All the best to ya! -Rick
  5. oh??? ... I always figgured they were going after the dead bugs..... Guess I'll have to try the "non-lemon" kind...

  8. DITTO I tried the goldwingfacts.com but unless you're a member, you can't search so a link that is more specific would be better.

  12. From my experience, Windex should only be used on glass or other similar "hard" surfaces as it has been know to "etch" plastic or plexiglass, etc (over time) and I believe it actually states this on the Windex bottle (or used to or it's somewhere in the product's literature). However, I believe the "ammonia free" Windex is safe to use. feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.... ( I was wrong once before .... )
  13. ya! ... dontchaknow it's against the RULES not to post pics of yer new scoot!!!
  14. Are you messin wif me? Driving lamps.
  15. Has anyone here mounted auxilliary driving lights anywhere else but the "normal" location (the standard Yammie light bar setup). If you have, can I / we see some pics and maybe some narrative on how you mounted them? (looking for ideas) Thanks.
  16. ah well, I really don't need to see that nor does anyone else here I guess. Prolly more than one of us has seen gorier sights, myself included but there's probably a lot who haven't and couldn't "stomach" it either.
  17. ahh go ahead... we can "stomach" it!
  18. My plane's joystick is hooked to my computer. I crash intentionally! LOL
  19. Keep at 'em Brian ... we're all waitin on ya!
  20. Don, is this a Microsoft product??... seems you've been doing a lot of updating over the past while.....
  21. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automotive_lighting Note: the definition of "passing lamps". Therefore, if the additional lights we put on our scoot are called "passing lamps", then they are supposed to be of low intensity and used during low beam situations. Are these lights we buy of "low intensity"? ... if so, that's not what I want. I want lights that shine up the road for a long distance...much farther and wider than standard headlight. Under "Auxilliary lights", there is nothing referred to as "passing lamps". Auxilliary lighting is used for a number of different things but not as additional low beam, low intensity purposes.
  22. ... I don't "get it". First of all, "passing lamps" produce additional illumination...am I wrong? If the "passing lamps" are on when the low beams are on, wouldn't that additional illumination cause more "mirror blindness" to the driver ahead of you that you're gonna "pass"??? "Passing lamps" are really another name for "driving lights" .... am I wrong? Wouldn't a person want additional "driving lights" for additional illumination when there's no vehicles ahead of you ... ie, when you have your high beams on? One of the biggest problems I have is night driving. I find it very eye-straining and hard to see and it's even worse when it's raining or foggy. I've always installed "driving lights" on my vehicles so that I can see better. Passing Lamps...Driving Lights .... seems all the same to me .... should be on when high beam is on if nothing else IMHO.

    new lift

I'd be a little "leery" about that lift. The one brian is checking out is different...it's the kind you ride onto and the bike sits on it's tires. Having said that tho, this particular lift sure makes for easy access to everything including the wheels. It appears that all the weight/stress would be on the joint where the verticle bar attaches to the legs. Doesn't look to "beefed up" to me .... think I'd be worried about it failing at that joint.
