  3. Hello, to all , I've owned Gerbing's clothing since 1996 I use it in the early riding season,March-April when the roads start to clear from the snow and ice,and I use them in the fall October till the snow comes to stay, I have never had any complaints, I must admit no gloves, I wear snowmobile mitts, the jacket or jacket liner have extended my riding season or at least made it much more comfortable, many of the local riders use Gerbings, some have had the odd thing go wrong, but a phone call or e-mail has usually brought quick results, up here in Winnipeg MB we do experince some very cold temps eg: last night low -35c with a windchill of -45c now when I see the guy's south of us complaining of cold riding when the temp is about +40f many of us would love to have the opportunity to ride anytime in that temp. a " Great 2009 " >mobile
  4. Hi,I have had pain in the same area on 2 occassions, in 1974 riding a 74 BMW R90s with short straight bars, and in 1981 riding a 81 Honda CBX with the same bar type, I was able to lessen the pain by moving my arms and elbows, one of the benifits of adjustibale bars is if you are not comfortable you can change the bar position.
  5. Stebel a very loud horn which will really piss off the person in a car who is on a cell phone and holding a hot coffee or a large very cold drink when you honk the horn,so honk and enjoy the fact that you've been heard and seen! "mobile"
  6. Two of us have recently bought 2007 Yamaha RSV midnight new from a dealer, we both have the problem with the radio not working, as it does and sometimes it does not come on or shut off as it should? I have a 2000 RSV and I've never had any problems with it. On one of the enteries a while back I can remember it showing a cutaway of wire bundles "3" I think and the article spoke of loose contact? did this apply to the radio?and if so where can I find the article? Thanks "mobile"
  7. The cold knee syndrome solution, as I ride in very cold weather in WPG. MB. I looked for a way to keep my knees warm and I found that the knee pads which wrap around your knees, when you are working in the garden, or they are used to protect your knees from a hard surface offer a good way to solve this cold air problem. They are held on by velcro and can be removed and put in the bags until needed. And they are very cheap. " mobile "

    Insurance cost

In the province of Manitoba we have Public Insurance, everyone has to have it. There are no other choices, the insurance, salvage and repairs are controled by the government, I pay $2000 per year for my RSV, I have full coverage and that includes the cost of registration (license plate), it would be nice to have the option to be able to shop and compare premiums from private insurance companys. The coverage is for a full year, but the policy considers the riding season to be May till October and if I was to cancel my policy I would not get much back as most of the premuim would be used up in the above months, but I am on the road in March and I will continue to ride untill the snow comes and the roads get slippery, which can be Nov. and sometime even into December, but not to often ,sure like my heated clothing "Gerbings",the riding season could be much longer if a guy was to head south for the winter as the insurance is still on the bike ! 12. I would like some advise on a replacement windshield "to replace my stock one on 2000 RSV" It is in excelent shape but it is high and not good in the rain,so I am asking for your opinions, eg: Clear View or JC Whitney or ? and what is it like to have a wider shield and a shorter one ? I shall wait for your response. Thank You mobile
  13. Hi, I would like to bring to your attention that in Canada the gas is sold by the liter and the RSV takes 22 liters. To give an example I took a ride with a full tank of gas,and when we pulled in for gas I had put on 284km, the bike took 17 liters which means I had 5 liters left with no reserve light showing yet. I figure that I got 50 miles per Canadian gallon or 6 liters per 100 km.To make it a bit easier I divided 284 km by 17 lts =16.70 is the kilometer liter that I averaged.I grew up with miles & gallons but the government changed things and now we have metric measurements. I am going to give this site to anyone who is going to travel to Canada and you will see how to convert the US gallon to the Canadian or UK " imperial gallon etc.or liters I hope this will help my USA friends. > mobile ps: with the above calculation the RSV should get 350 km on a full tank ! NOTE: It was brought to my attention that the link provided here by Mobile was no longer valid. Here is another that should give you the needed information. http://www.fuelcalculator.info/

  15. Hi, I was sent this site from a USA riding friend, It is great if you put your cursor on the songs that show on the juke box from the years 1956/57/58/59/60 The music is the real thing,it brings back many thoughts of pulling into a resturant putting in a quater and getting 5 songs, and ordering a soft drink and a hotdog, but the time and the music is much different today, but for anyone who would like to reminise or to just get a taste of the music from the past now is your chance. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. > mobile http://www.bobforrest.com/JukeBox.htm

My insurance for my 2000 RSV is $2300. per year and gas is 87c per liter. We usually get snow from Nov till April and when the road gets slippery I put the bike away but if the road stays dry I shall dress warm and continue to ride. Take care. mobile

    cold ride

Hi, I took a cool ride today on my 2000 RSV, I went to have lunch out of town, I didn't see any other bikes, as I drove through the city I had people pull up beside me and roll down their windows in their cars and tell me that if was to cold to be riding my bike! The temp. was -9c or 15f I had my Gerbing's jacket plugged in and I was quite comfortable. I have taken this ride on "Veterans day " or Remberance day" as often as I could in my 50yrs of being a motorcycle rider. I am often asked why? The answer is because I can ! I can because of the freedom that has been given to all of us by the veterans and I feel great to be able to get out and do my thing. The snow is in the fields but the roads are dry, and I would like to say Thank You for the freedom. ( mobile )
