Stator Wire Soldering Point ????
Cougar replied to Cougar's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Gary, they sure look like it could work on a 2nd Gen.. have you verified this yet? I might just do this. (your connector) Guess I could just replace both sides . Thanks, Jeff -
Hey gang, the one's that have already installed the Buckeye HO Stator,. what did you do as far as where you clipped the connector and did you do all the soldering in that tight spot? Or is there a way to re-route it so there is more room to work on the splice? I also now have about 60 pics of my taking apart the stator and also removing the rectifer/regulator as I will be adding the new up-dated after market one that I will be getting from SkyDoc. If you guys are interested I will do the write-up with LOTS of pics. I think the hardest part of this whole project so far is getting the stator bolts loose and removeing the gasket material. As I have seen in a photo from the other site it looks as though the soldering is done up high , but I can not figure out how to get this wire/plug up there a bit. So this part is done, all I need now is my new parts !!

friesman1, From what I am getting out of Skydoc is that there is one for the 1stGen Stator and there is a differant Unit for the 2ndGen... I have asked in a post of what the output might be for the 2ndGen one. Jeff

Mike , wow I have not seen those pics in some time. I had contacted that person about the tank bib got the info but never ordered on yet.. and lost the info LOL It is very cool. Jeff

SKYDOC just found me one for the 2nd gen and it is plug and play! YIPPY! I am ready to start the work !!!! now I should have the full benifit of the High Out-Put Stator !!! Thanks Earl and Mike !! Jeff

and what button do you push to enter the chat as i do not see it on the side bar anymore:think: maybe that is why it is empty ?
-
It makes your bike go really really FAST!! No just kidding , BUT I will let Snaggletooth tell you as he has installed on on his first gen, it is a better made regulator/rectifier that can handle better loads from a higher out-put stator. I hope I explained this right LOL I myself am adding a buckeye high out-put stator to my second Gen and was wanting to add a better R/R to it as well. but so far from a message from Earl (skydoc) says it wont work on the second gen, still trying to figure figure out why ? Mike thank you very much for the photos and the other info that you sent me. now to ask Earl or Dano how I find one someplace. I just want to go all the way with this project for some reason LOL Jeff

Mike they are so darn cheap now just buy a new one. but first check your surface your using it on, maybe there is some dead food laying there under it. LOL
-
Mike I do want to go the distance if I will be going this far and just get it done before riding season, so could you give me links to what I need when you have time please ? And will this new R/R be just a plug and play? Thanks so much for your info bro. Jeff

way to go !!

I have ordered my Buckeye HO Stator and will be installing it soon, Will I need a heavier rectifier for the 2nd gen as well? If so how do I find one? figure if I am going this far I might as well add that if need be. Thanks for any help. Jeff

Here is one I just found on Amazon [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Kuryakyn-4219-Chrome-Battery-Gauge/dp/B000GU5WO8]Amazon.com: Kuryakyn 4219 Chrome L.E.D. Battery Gauge: Automotive@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51Jd4mVqPNL.@@AMEPARAM@@51Jd4mVqPNL[/ame] the black might be cheaper. I think I paid about this much thru the dealer. -

not distracting at all, and it sits down low in that perfect place. just thinking I think at night it gets a little dimmer if I remember right. but other wise it doesn't bother me. just use a little 3M tape on the back sde and your set . you can get the base in chrome or black
