(Used to be the worlds largest arched bridge.) Leaving Visitors center parking lot, make a right (away from Rt. 19) , go 1/4 mile R. at end of road (Keep to outside of this turn as it is very sharp and has a abrupt drop on inside of turn) . Continue thru a series of cutbacks(keep to outside of turns) when given choice make a (left - down hill route) Cross over RR tracks and small bridge *** sites *** Various pull offs on way down to New river. 1st parking lot - excellent pics of bridge and river(white water rafters) 2nd parking lot - bathrooms, excellent pics of river drop off of 10"? (caution- when turning into 2nd Parking lot you will cross over a wooden bridge. Pick a path and stay on it. Do not try to get on runners if your in the center as they are 2" high and you will lay the bike down) as one of my friends found out this past Saturday... Continuing on, you'll go about 1/4 mile and make a 180 deg. cut back to he left, that is relatively level followed up by a 180 deg. cutback to the right. (Keep to outside of this turn as it is very sharp and has a abrupt Climb on inside of turn) . *** sites *** Campground This road will take you to rt 19 on south side of the New River George Bridge.
  2. What deep thinkers we men are... I mowed the lawn today, and after doing so I sat down and had a cold beer. The day was really quite beautiful, and the drink facilitated some deep thinking on various topics. Finally I thought about an age old question: Is giving birth more painful than getting kicked in the nuts? Women always maintain that giving birth is way more painful than a guy getting kicked in the nuts. Well, after another beer, and some heavy deductive thinking, I have come up with the answer to that question. Getting kicked in the nuts is more painful than having a baby; and here is the reason for my conclusion. A year or so after giving birth, a woman will often say, "It might be nice to have another child." On the other hand, you never hear a guy say, "You know, I think I would like another kick in the nuts." I rest my case. Time for another beer.
  3. The way I look at it, I've already got the bike I love. Parts for it, should be available, for at least 10 years. Bought it for the comfort, low maintainence and cost. If anything, Yamahas move will drive the cost of these bikes down... With 15,000 miles on her, it will last me a long time... So... It's all good...
  4. What? Local Italian PIZZA without Local Italian BEER? That's Sacrilege! Someone... Please... Call the Pope! Guarantee you this... If and when I go to Germany... I will do my utmost to try, each, and every one... And that's a promise I intend to keep... Along with any chocolates, Patisseries and Ice Cream I can find...LoL
  5. They were drinking the beer and wine strictly for medicinal reasons... It's not wise when traveling abroad, to drink water... Unless of course your constipated....
  6. Covering most of Michigan, will cover northern half of Ohio, N. WV., W.MD. and a large part of S. PA. late tonight... Better batten down the Hatches! This could be very bad in places...
  7. Waving doesn't bother my beer drinking arm. Of course I'm right handed.... Must be for American southpaws... Or Australians...
  8. Jack, Been a while Since we meet in Cody... daNg! THE TIME IS FLYING BY... I've got and love my Baggershield. You can lower it to get more air to your upper body but at speeds over 55 you will be buffeted. I prefer the lower position for back road riding(-55 MPH). The upright position for highway/interstate speeds (75 mph). I've never had a problem with engine heat? Although the Harleys would really benefit from these as they are air cooled. The Air wings will allow me to direct air where I want. Be nice to get air up there without having to constantly be on the highway pegs. Plus, the bugs should hit the vent first, and, drop like a rock... instead of impaling themselves on me... Will give a review after using them a couple weeks.
  9. I stand corrected.. It was a CJ5... The placards on the dash... starting in 84... state all you need to know about these vehicles. It states... these vehicles are prone to roll over in sharp right had turns.(or something simular) They are there in large part due to my Mom and Dad. John died in 79. Jeff Green (friend of mine)told me the earlier jeeps could be fliped over by placing in 4 wheel drive, turning the steering to either side and hitting the gas Driving ability has nothing to do with it... Do as you please, but i would rather be on a bike, than a jeep, anyday.
  10. +1 I probably shouldnt comment on this, but seeing it's your son we're talking about I feel I must. Junk it. The newer ones are designed to be safer. My younger brother was killed in one... seems they like to roll when doing a sharp turn on asphault. A guy cut in front of him and the jeep rolled when he swerved to avoid a head on collision. They have to short and narrow of a wheel base... Enough said.
  11. I was looking and the OEM are $200 for just the leg area. The Bakerbuilt air wings will reach from your legs to your helmet. Watch the video on their home page. At $300, it's good as they are well built. Don't mind paying for quality. I sent them a email today asking if they would like to become a vendor here. If they do, we could possiby get a discount on them.
  12. I've used both, non-scented pledge or a good spray wax. Spray windshield with cleaner, "liberally to get the dust off"(will run off), then wipe off with micro fiber cloth. (4 for $2 at HF on sale) Make sure you use a different "clean" microfiber cloth to apply pledge or wax. The dirt/road dust can cause those dreaded swirls ... Pledge helps if your running into a lot of bugs... Like when in florida love bug season... They don't seem to stick as bad.
  13. While at MD this year, I was checking out FROGMASTERS 2nd Gen with Baker Air Wings. They were Sweet! He said it was the best investment/modification he made. They direct air to the rider and passenger or direct air/rain away... Just ordered a set for mine. http://www.bakerbuilt.com/bbairwings/page48aa.html Be nice to get them on this site as you know the hot weather is just around the corner....
  14. Spoke with him this morning. He performed a bypass on the oldgirl and hadn't even stayed at the Holiday Inn...LOL http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=holiday+inn+commercials&mid=970DF84DB7CBE5CDE69E970DF84DB7CBE5CDE69E&view=detail&FORM=VIRE2 With any luck we should be rolling in around 5 ish.
  15. Believe he can bypass fuel pump and go gravity feed as long as he keeps the bike topped off(don't let it get much below half a tank, or, 100 miles for the RSV)
  16. I'd listen to dingy, About fried my horn button with a wolo horn, had to go in and clean up, way to much current for that switch...
  17. After my accident on a bike with a deer 3 years ago i bought two and installed on the wife and my bikes. They work as advertised and definately gets the deers attention... However... As deer are unpredictable and skidish, they could very well jump in front of you at the last minute, just stand there, or turn and run the other way. I beileve it's better than nothing...
  18. It's a political discussion.... Cause and effect. EPA overreach combined with the majority of states realizing that fuel efficient cars result in loss of income so they just raise the taxes. Combine that with mandated ethanol usage. Now the USs largest export is fuel. The fuel companies want to liquify natural gas so they can export it. Something i recently leared from my neighbor: ALL GAS STATIONS WITH BURIED FIBERGLASS GAS FUEL TANKS are going to have to dig the up and replace them. Most steel tanks were replaced with fiberglass as they were suppose to last 100 yrs or more. Thats before the gov. dictated the addition of ethanol which(you guessed it) dissolves the fiberglass tanks... So we ain't seen nothing yet..
  19. seems you can also buy the SD cards from Garmin: http://www.goldwingfacts.com/forums/2-goldwing-technical-forum/359800-navigation-sd-card-error-gl1800-2010-a.html
  20. those little tabs are spring loaded If you carefully take the two screws out and lift bottom cover off you'll see how it works. Just be careful and observant and you'll be fine dont turn the chrome piece upside down unless your careful, as there are also little rubber pieces in the holes (like one way valve to let air in but keep gas in) When you put back together use blue loctite on screws an it will keep the gas cap assembly from falling apart at highway speed...lol
  21. 87 octane with ethanol... unless I'm riding west of South Dakota...then will do 91or 93
  22. This is an old post 07? I'm with Don on this one. We all need to keep our concentration on the task at hand. Even the smallest distraction can be your last. Move your eyes, focus. repeat...
  23. Is it possible the charger over charged your battery? edit**never mind... I see now it happened while you were pressing the starter button... Yup a loose positive connection would definately get hot with a fully charged battery...kinda like a MacGyver welder...LOL end edit**
