  3. Does anyone here have Geothermo? I've been reading up on it and visited with a guy at the local Homeshow today and he claims I can heat, air condition, and heat my water for between $600-$800 a year with Geothemo. Price would probably be 20 grand but there is a 30% tax credit and $2000 rebate from our utility company which takes 8 grand off the top. I'm getting close to needed to replace what I have - so it looks a bit attractive. The good news today was when they had the big drawing I didn't win the 42" TV - but I won a remote car starter and 100 Sq. Yards of free carpet cleaning.
  4. Wow - that had to be a bit scary. I'm thankful you are okay!
  5. Looks like Panthers are going to lose. Too bad - they had a great season. My son was transfered to Larado with Lowe's. He's excited about his new ride. I grew up in Marshalltown but my wife is from Tripola - near Cedar Falls.
  6. Today my son purchased an new 06 Tour Deluxe with 0 miles! His first motorcycle. Thanks to all who offered him good advice after he posted here yesterday. I thought it was a good deal but you all confirmed it. I'm excited for him and know he will love the bike. The only problem being he lives in Texas and I'm in Iowa so we won't be able to ride together very often.
  7. Hey Adam - if they offer a discount on accessories you might consider a light bar and a different seat. If the TD seats are anything like the Venture - you will want a different seat or at least get the Butler Mod done to the seat on it. You can read about the Butler mod on this forum. Hope you they take your offer!
  8. Hey Randy - sell him yours at a great price! You've got that Venture to pick up - ride it out here and drop it off - he's my son!!! He lives in Texas. I didn't realize he was looking at bikes when I found that Venture but he will be happy with a Tour Deluxe.
  9. Hey Adam, Welcome aboard! I told you that you would get some good insight on this forum. I didn't realize the TD had cruise! I guess I haven't looked them over. It is sounding like a pretty good deal and for what you are saving over the Harley you can buy your dad a pretty nice Birthday present!! dad
  10. Randy, as I was out riding tonight the thought came to my mind that I should have driven down to Norwalk and test rode the bike for you! If you would still like for me to do that before you come out here - I will. Sorry I didn't think about it earlier.
  11. Mike, I really hated it when my wife said the 17th was probably the only date that would work for the family reunion. We are both pastors and between our churches with weddings, etc, and our work as chaplains at the Iowa Speedway - we have few weekends free. We originally set the 17th with the 24th as a rain date. I will firm up the date by next week and hopefully it won't be a big deal. When that date is set - it will be firm.
  12. Thanks Jeff - I edited the original post. I should know by next week if we need to change the date.
  13. We may have to move the date to the 24th! Sorry about that but we are trying to figure out a date for our Family Reunion which we host and the 17th may be the only date that works for our family. Once we know for sure I will post it asap. The other option would be if some other person wants to host it the 17th but I'd love to have you all come to Newton!
  14. The car in the background is a 69 Roadrunner and he wants 18,000 for it....
  15. Randy - when I talked to the guy I think he said it was in the 400. Mine is 259. Looking forward to meeting up with you when you get out here to Iowa.
  16. Congrats Randy on your new bike!! You might have him grease the wheel bearings on the trailer since you will haul it all the way back east! It might pull better if it isn't empty - I don't know much about pulling trailers. If all works well, I might just take a day off and ride part of the day with you - let me know your schedule!
  17. I talked to the guy last night - he had the carbs rebuilt last year, new tires and battery. Has the light bar, tank bra, pipes and luggage rack. He said that it has the chirp. I'm so tempted to buy it and then sell mine. His has a few more accessories and the trailer plus my bike has the same miles as his. I know I could recoup the money selling mine but before I do that I thought I'd let people here know about it. Yes, it will go quickly.
  18. A local advertised a 2000 MM Venture with 15000 miles so I called him. It has a trailer, light bar, pipes, and a few other extras. I'm thinking about buying it to resale as I think I could make money on it but thought I'd give someone here a chance at it. It is in Norwalk, Iowa which is about 50 miles from me. If somone buys it I can store it in my garage until they can get to Iowa. He will let the whole works go for $6500! PM me.
  19. I just got a First Gear Killiminjaro tan jacket and it came yesterday just in time for my ride. I like the comfort and warmth on a cooler day. It matches my 2000 MM as well. Only problem I had was I left the receipt on the kitchen counter top and my wife found it - for some reason it slipped my mind to tell her I ordered it! Got it from New Enough - arrived in 2 days - and it was 1/2 price!
  20. Here you go: http://www.ymcarockies.org/
  21. Check out the YMCA Camp of The Rockies. They have all sorts of packages and are very reasonable. Their cafeteria is totally awesome and you will meet a lot of nice people. I've been there twice. It is at Estes Park. They have another camp at Snow Mountain. Do a search for YMCA camp of the Rockies and you will find info.
  22. I had an 05 Ultra Classic that I bought used. It was a great bike and fit me well. After having a 2000 RSV MM I found the Ultra was a much greater bike for riding in town but the Venture beat it on the highway. The Ultra always felt a bit small for me - I'm 6' 3" and weigh over 280. So, when a guy offered to trade me an 06 Ford F150 4X4 XLT with 46,000 miles plus his nice 62 Impala SS clone for my Ultra - I jumped on it! The pick-up with worth more than my Harley! When I decided last fall to get back into a touring bike I found a 2000 RSV MM with 13,000 miles for 6 grand and bought it. It is far easier to justify $6000 than $15,000 and I love the bike. With that said - having been a member of this forum when I had my first RSV played a huge role in getting back to the Venture. IMO this forum is one of the best of the best and I missed being a part of it. The Harley was a great bike and I had no problems with it.
  23. Finally, it got warm enough here in Iowa to go for a ride. I put my Khromewerks pipes on and installed my Corbin Seat - and had enough time this afternoon to ride around Newton. What a great day! I would have ridden longer but our church is showing the videos, "Laugh Your Way To A Better Marriage" tonight. Highly recommend the ride and the video!!!
  24. Just ordered a set -= look forward to getting them. Thanks - it saves me the hassle of making my own!
